Some people can't get enough of stories of love triumphing against all odds, and for them, there's a whole section of Netflix full of Nicholas Sparks movies.
For the more cynical movie-goer, or the guy or gal who just wants to know where Amy Pond goes when she's not slipping through the universe, there's "Not Another Happy Ending."
The movie, written by David Solomoms, tells the story of a girl whose happiness nearly ruins her life, and the handsome hero who sets out to make sure she's miserable.
Screen Daily reports that "Doctor Who" actress Karen Gillan will star as the film's protagonist, an author of dark fiction whose career success causes an ascent out of agony and leaves her unable to write.
Desperate to get her back in the swing of things, her publisher, played by "Game of Thrones" actor Emun Elliot, does everything in his power to make her unhappy, only to fall in love with her along the way.
The film's director, John McKay, says of his cast, "We have two of the newest, hottest, sexiest pair of lead actors out of Scotland. Just right for the kind of quirky, romantic indie movie not another happy ending is set to be.” This will be McKay's second time working with the Gillan, who stars as Jean Shrimpton in "We'll Take Manhattan," a BBC movie based on the relationship between the model and photographer David Bailey.
Killan isn't the only "Doctor Who" star getting the Hollywood treatment; the doctor himself, in the form of actor David Tennant, stars in British rom-com "The Decoy Bride" and 3-D horror "Fright Night," both scheduled for release this year.
