Instead of 'Fifth Estate,' Julian Assange Wants You to Watch...

Dreamworks Dreamworks

Either WikiLeaks' campaign against "The Fifth Estate" has reached the level of being officially hilarious, or we need another cappuccino, stat.

'Cause we couldn't help but LOL at what Julian Assange has come up with to steer would-be viewers away from the theaters this time. Get More »

Julian Assange is Basically Trolling Benedict Cumberbatch Through WikiLeaks

Touchstone Touchstone

The saga of Julian Assange and his team at WikiLeaks versus "The Fifth Estate," a movie depicting (at least some version of) their story continues to get thicker and ickier.

In short, Assange believes the film is made of pure freakin' evil and that Dreamworks has some huge secret agenda meant to portray him in a terrible light before the movie-going public.

Even so, Assange apparently kinda likes Benedict Cumberbatch — the dude who got uberfrosted to portray him on-screen. Just not enough to have had a little sit-down with him before the cameras started rolling. Get More »

Touchstone Touchstone

Techy people getting irked when movies get this detail or that wrong about them is basically the new fangirl flip-out over the slightest quote changes in book-to-screeners. While Assange continued to hide out in Ecuador's London Embassy, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" director Bill Condon (we still prefer to think of him as the director of "Gods and Monsters" ) has been busy with a biopic of sorts called "The Fifth Estate." Cumberbatch dyed his hair the shade of Slim Shady to play the controversial Assange, whose commitment to freedom of the press and transparency of information has put him at odds with those who like to keep things, you know, secret.
