'Riddick' Trailer: Vin Diesel Battles Monsters On Sparsely Furnished Canadian Soundstages

First off: yes, the 'Riddick' franchise, which began with 2000's pleasingly grungy "Pitch Black" and continued, into a more opaque fantasy realm with 2004's "Chronicles of Riddick," is still alive and well. For some reason.

In the series, Vin Diesel plays the titular mercenary, who has had his eyes "shined" so he can see in the dark (which is apparently a problem in the future, maybe because everyone is out in space). He's such a badass that in the opening moments of the trailer for the third film, simply called "Riddick" (just Riddick, it's cleaner), he grabs a dragon by the throat. Note to dragons everywhere: don't mess with Vin Diesel. Get More »

The 9 Most Jacked Dudes in Hollywood

Pain & Gain Paramount

Most of us understand that as we age, it's important to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Go for a jog (or a "yog" if you're Ron Burgundy) once in a while. Maybe opt for a salad sometimes instead of a few slices of pizza. If you work at a desk, perhaps you make sure you walk around your office for five minutes every hour. Feel that burn.

Then there are others who take that notion to extreme lengths, who hear "maintain a healthy and active lifestyle" and think "lift enough weights every day of my life to tear a horse in half with my bare hands and have a laughing fit in its blood." Get More »

All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...

• We wonder if "Les Miserables" star Eddie Redmayne had to sing for his new role. The handsome up-and-comer is officially joining Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis for "Jupiter Ascending," the top-secret sci-fi film from the Wachowski Siblings. [Heat Vision]

Samantha Barks just can't stop singing! Eddie Redmayne's "Les Miserables" co-star is in talks (or, rather, in songs) to go "Walking on Sunshine," a musical set to '80s pop ditties about a mother and daughter who fall in love with the same man while vacationing in Spain. '80s pop star Kylie Minogue has already been cast (we're assuming as the mom, which makes us feel old). [The Wrap] Get More »

Celebs Rapping: Our Faves Drop Some Dope Rhymes

Tom and Louis Hardy Rap
YouTube

Last week, the world was treated to the amazingly entertaining spectacle of "The Dark Knight Rises" star Tom Hardy performing an impromptu version of KRS One's classic track "Hip Hop vs. Rap." And lo, it was awesome.

But while Hardy does get some bonus points for having a baby strapped to his chest, he's hardly the first celebrity to flex his flow for an internet audience. So with that in mind, here's a roundup of some of the hottest (and not so hottest) raps performed by your favorite movie stars.

Because after all, considering how many rappers have gone on to successful film careers, isn't it time for a little reciprocity? Get More »

Vin Diesel is known for his almost Terminator-esque physique, but now it looks like he'll finally get to stretch his (metallic) wings and play a full-on robot.

In order to become an MMA champion, you need to be both fast and furious. How well those particular skills translate to the big screen is another matter. Luckily for Gina Carano, however, she's found the perfect vehicle to turn her fighting abilities into acting gold — and that vehicle is probably going to be a souped up, barely street legal import.

Carano has just landed a role in the upcoming action film "Fast & Furious 6," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Now that gets our motors revving. Get More »

Vin Diesel proved he could handle The Rock in "Fast Five." But can he handle Batista?

We'll soon find out as the two titans will clash in a battle of galactic proportions in the untitled sequel to "The Chronicles of Riddick," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dave Bautista, who's perhaps most well-known as WWE superstar Batista, will be playing the role of Diaz in the "Riddick" sequel, who we can only assume is some sort of nemesis to Richard B. Riddick (Diesel), the eternally-hunted ex-con who can see in the dark. Bautista joins a cast that includes Jordi Molla, Katee Sackhoff and Karl Urban. Get More »

Riddick Gets a New Nemesis with Jordi Molla

Getty Images

Riddick's a wanted man throughout the galaxy, and the latest bad guy hot on his trail could be the famous Spanish actor Jordi Molla.

Molla would play yet another mercenary hunting down Riddick (Vin Diesel) on that crusty prison planet of Crematoria. As Santana, Molla would head up a group of mercs on the hunt for our eyeball-enhanced ex-con.

US audiences might be more familiar with Molla's work in the bananas actioner "Bunraku" and the less bananas Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz vehicle "Knight and Day," as well as "Colombiana" and "Blow." Get More »
