Ty Burrell is on the case of another great Muppet caper in the making.
The "Modern Family" star (who certainly possesses Muppet-like attributes, and we mean that in the nicest way possible) has signed on to be one of the human characters in the still-untitled "Muppets" sequel, according to Heat Vision.
The sequel moves the action right along from America to Europe, creating speculation that the film's plot will involve some sort of international intrigue, a la "The Great Muppet Caper" (1981). The theory is further fueled by one of the main human characters being a still-uncast Russian femme fatale ... and an Interpol agent, to be played by Burell. Get More »

Cinema Blend reports that the Dreamworks Animation project is moving forward after a stall, having found its lead in "Modern Family" star Ty Burrell, who will replace Robert Downey Jr. as the bespectacled pooch. Sherman, Mr. Peabody's adopted human, will be voiced by 8-year-old Max Charles, who has had minor roles on "Community" and "True Blood," and will star as a young Peter Parker in the soon-to-be-released "The Amazing Spider-Man." Even a "Family" man can fall into a life of crime.
Ty Burrell will be spending his break from ABC's "Modern Family" with the likes of Elmore Leonard as he's signed on for a role in "The Switch," according to Variety.
"The Switch" serves as a prequel to "Rum Punch," the Leonard novel that Quentin Tarantino adapted as "Jackie Brown" back in 1997. The film, which takes place 15 years before the events of "Jackie Brown," stars Mos Def and John Hawkes as Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara (previously played by Samuel L. Jackson and Robert De Niro in Tarantino's film), career criminals who team up to kidnap Mickey Dawson, the wife of a corrupt Detroit real estate developer. Get More »
