"Thor: The Dark World" once again topped the box office this weekend, as according to Film.com, Marvel's latest superhero extravaganza earned an estimated $38.5 million to push its international total to an impressive $479.8 million.
Also impressive? The debut of Malcolm Lee's long awaited "The Best Man Holiday." Faithful fans of 1999's "The Best Man" flocked to the cineplex in droves, giving the $17 million production a stellar $30.6 million debut.
Next weekend, of course, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is expected to obliterate the box office. For a look at this weekend's top ten, though, head to Film.com.
As expected, "Thor: The Dark World" performed heroically at the box office this weekend, as the latest Marvel Studios superhero blockbuster earned a whopping $86.1 million according to Film.com.
Combined with the $240.3 million "Thor: The Dark World" has already taken in overseas, Chris Hemsworth and company are now sitting at a tidy $326.4 million worldwide in just ten days of release.
Needless to say, there wasn't a whole hell of a lot else going on at the box office this weekend, as "Thor: The Dark World" pretty much sucked the air out of the room. But for the full box office top ten, including figures for returning films "Ender's Game" and "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa," head to Film.com.
All good things must come to an end, and it would appear that Tom Hiddleston, who portrays the fan favorite character of Loki in the Marvel cinematic universe, has reached an end point with the popular comic book adaptations.
Yes, according to Marvel chief Kevin Feige, we won't be seeing Loki again anytime soon. He won't appear in the upcoming "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and the boss man hasn't said anything about him coming back in later installments either.
"I don’t think it would be before 'Thor 3' if there is a 'Thor 3' and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics," Feige told SlashFilm of Loki's future. "We have to see how this one does and then go from there."
When MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with Hiddleston on the red carpet for "Thor: The Dark World" this week, the actor got emotional while talking about his possible exit from the franchise.
Well, good thing dude's an actor, because we get the feeling those tears were summoned up on command.
"Oh man, I hadn't thought about until you told me," Hiddleston said. "I just really miss it, man. You know, it's been, like, a really good time. You made me cry!"
Sweet emotion, everyone.
On a more serious note, Hiddleston said that being cast as trickster villain Loki had "changed [his] life."
"It's been absolutely above and beyond my wildest dreams," he said.
"Thor: The Dark World," also starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Stellan Skarsgard, hits theaters November 8. Kenneth Branaugh directs.
Whether or not Tom Hiddleston's Loki bites the bullet (or gets beaten down by the hammer or whatever other Asgardian killing device comes along) in "Thor: The Dark World" remains to be seen. While he decidedly will not be badding it up in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron," we do have not one but two reasons to believe he'll make it through "Thor 2."
Will he ever get his own solo movie, though? The Hiddlehotness has one good idea stored up just in case ... Get More »

No, this joke will never get old. What time is it? HAMMER TIME.
"Marvel's Thor: The Dark World" means a return to Asgard for the titular hero, but he's bringing Jane Foster along for the ride. Of course, some big bad evil as old as time has come to threaten the universe, and Thor is the only one that can stop it. Well, not the only one, since he immediately feels the need to grab Jane off of Midgard (read: Earth) to enlist her science-y aid and, let's face it, to get some lip-to-lip contact. Get More »
The dog days of August are almost over, which means blockbusters are taking a backseat to all those lovely prestige pictures the studios trot out when the leaves change and Meryl Streep gets her thirst for gold like the Oscar vampire she is. Get More »
There used to be a lot of talk about Loki biting the proverbial bullet once and for all in "Thor: The Dark World" — particularly since Joss Whedon confirmed the character will not be around to wreak any more havoc in "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" — but after Tom Hiddleston owned pretty much all of Comic-Con with his awesome in-costume cameo swagger, the chatter changed real quick. Marvel Studio's own prez Kevin Feige stepped out to declare that Loki's not going anywhere anytime soon and will instead be "the big bad for us, for a long time."
Given all those whispers about Loki's epic demise in "Thor 2," though, many wondered how exactly that might work out. But friends, it looks like the answer is here as director Alan Taylor has now confirmed they're doing a big round of re-shoots for the very purpose of incorporating s'more Loki into the pic. The first teaser trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" gave us but a split second of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) getting a little visit from his boy wonder brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth), but today Marvel has unleashed the first full trailer for the second "Thor" installment, and it looks like the Asgardian Bros. will be enjoying quite a reunion indeed as they show down with an enemy which threatens to tear apart "the very fabric of reality." Um, yikes? Get More »
