Why, just yesterday, we were stoked to tell you all about the casting rumors for "The Seventh Son," the young adult horror film being adapted from the popular novel "The Spook's Apprentice" by author Joseph Delany. Alex Pettyfer has built his burgeoning career on the backs of young adult novels -- the British actor has already appeared in "Stormbreaker," "Beastly" and "I am Number Four," which opens Feb. 18. All signs point to at least one more YA adaptation, but good luck getting the 20-year-old troublemaker to admit which one.
"I'm not doing either at the moment. I'm not attached, I just got the offers," he tells NextMovie, regarding "The Mortal Instruments" and "The Seventh Son" (formerly known as "The Last Apprentice").
The race for the next big young adult fantasy franchise is in full swing, and one team just nabbed the A-List gravitas of Jeff Bridges.
According to Just Jared, the Oscar-winning actor has joined a big screen version of "The Seventh Son," based on the novel "The Last Apprentice" by Joseph Delaney. "Number Four" Alex Pettyfer and Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence are in talks to join him.
Bridges will play The Spook, a warrior of dark magic who takes on Tom Ward (potentially Pettyfer) as an apprentice and teaches him how to fight off ghosts, witches and the like.
