'Argo,' 'Life of Pi' Win Big at 2013 Oscars

Argo Warner Bros.

The 85th annual Academy Awards are being held this evening and "Argo" won Best Picture. The award was accepted by producers Grant Heslov, George Clooney and Ben Affleck, who was famously snubbed in the Best Director category.

Heslov was anything but subtle in pointing out the oversight, making a special point to thank Affleck for being a "great director" before turning over the mic.

"I want to thank my wife, who I don't normally associate with Iran," Affleck said in a charming acceptance speech, also thanking everyone up to and including the entire nation of Canada.

Ang Lee, for what it's worth, won Best Director for "Life of Pi." It was the fourth win for the film on the evening, follwing Oscars for Best Visual Effects, Best Cinematography and Best Original Score. Get More »

After Oscars Snub Corey Haim, Internet Saves the Day With Tribute

Moviefone

When the Academy forgot (or intentionally excluded) Corey Haim in the Oscars' "In Memoriam" reel, we at NextMovie were appalled. The guy was Sam in "The Lost Boys!"

As a boy, Haim stole the spotlight in movies like "Lost Boys," "Lucas" and "Watchers." As a man, he battled drug addiction until his death about a year ago. And now, to be snubbed posthumously is a sad coda to those rough final years. Get More »

Oscar the Grouch Predicts Oscars the Awards

Getty Images

Before Armond White (and Statler and Waldorf) there was Oscar the Grouch, the OG grumpy critic. He hasn't been getting a lot of mainstream play lately -- probably because he lives in a trashcan -- but the good folks at AOL and Sesame Street would like to change that.

Thanks to the power of internet video, Oscar has a soap box from which to predict this year's Oscar winners. Why this short isn't called "Oscar on Oscars," the world may never know. Get More »
