'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Trailer: Fangirls, Get Ready
The back-to-back floppery of "Beautiful Creatures" and "The Host" has left a lot of industry folks confused about the perceived ticketing draw of Young Adult book-to-film properties. Aren't these movies supposed to be raking in gobs of dough and keying up innumerable sequels, the last of which will be a two-parter of some sort? Where are all the ladies and their signs at the midnight lines and the tattoos and such? To that we say, see the list. Know the list. The formula is much more complicated than it might seem.
Sony Pictures hopes that their "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" will become the first film of the year to rejuvenate that ravenous YA fanfare, and they just might pull it off, too. Get More »
Infographic: Young Adult Heroines
Young Adult Fiction is all the rage in cinema right now. True, "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" have made their final bows, but in their place has come a maelstrom of successors, including "The Hunger Games," "Warm Bodies," "Beautiful Creatures," "The Host," and the upcoming big-screen adaptations of "Divergent" and "The Mortal Instruments."
Most of these stories are seen through the eyes of a young heroine, and with all of these yarns sharing similar elements of romance, fantasy and conspiracy, keeping track of all the distinctive details of each leading lady and their respective heroine's journeys can be a daunting task indeed. In the interest of simplicity and at-a-glance organization, NextMovie's own Nick DeSantis (artwork) and Amanda Bell (stats) have conjured this handy chart to help in keeping all the ladies in line — literally. We've been following the progress on Sony Screen Gems' "The Mortal Instruments" with bated breath for what seems like years now - inch by inch, casting announcement by casting announcement - so we're as amped as any Shadowhunter out there that things are finally underway for production on the book-to-film adaptation of Cassandra Clare's first installment "City of Bones," the same movie which you voted (overwhelmingly) to be summer 2013's most anticipated.

Lily Collins: Jamie Campbell Bower Kicks Ass in 'Mortal Instruments'
[From MTV.com] He's played a dark wizard and a villainous vamp, but actor Jamie Campbell Bower is tackling his most physically demanding role yet in the upcoming "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" as demon-destroying Shadowhunter Jace Wayland.
Based upon the urban fantasy series by Cassandra Clare, "City of Bones" stars Lily Collins as a Brooklyn teen who discovers she's a descendant of an ancient line of half-human, half-angel warriors tasked with protecting Earth from dark forces. Campbell Bower plays her love interest in the film, and the actress had plenty of accolades for her co-star when MTV News caught up with her at the Toronto International Film Festival recently, where she was supporting another film, "Writers." All You Need to Know About 'The Mortal Instruments' Cast (So Far)
Fans of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" series will agree that casting for the "City of Bones" movie has been one hellaciously long process. Consider this: The first actor announcement came down nearly two years ago.
However, as the spiffy new official movie website for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" now shows, there are very few spaces left open on the casting roster. In fact, this week "The Tudors" star Jonathan Rhys Meyers might've nabbed the biggest opening left (he's reportedly in talks to star as Valentine Morgenstern, the brainy and sadistic arch-villain of the series).
