Bradley Cooper is exceptional at playing the cool jerk that viewers can't help but love.

In "The Hangover" and "The Hangover Part II," his character Phil Wenneck is "that guy," the former high school football star-type women still swoon over. It's hard to imagine Cooper not always being a Phil Wenneck, even in real life.

But Cooper is not "that guy." He's just good at acting like it. His earnest grilling of Sean Penn on "Inside the Actors Studio" when he was 23 proves that, as does "Silver Linings Playbook" and his feature-film debut: 2001's "Wet Hot American Summer."

"WHAS," which has developed a rabid cult following in the decade since its release, starred numerous former members of the MTV sketch-comedy show "The State," as well as (then) young up-and-comers Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks and Judah Friedlander.

Cooper played Ben, a Camp Firewood counselor who at first seems like just another uptight prick with a silver spoon in his mouth. His co-counselor Susie (Poehler) appears to be cut from the same cloth and practically throws herself at him, but he couldn't be farther from interested. That's because Ben only has eyes for one person at the camp: McKinley (Michael Ian Black).

Ben and McKinley's relationship soon escalates from naughty trysts in the sporting-equipment shed to a marriage ceremony that today is only recognized by five states and Washington D.C. If you're used to thinking of Bradley Cooper as "that guy," then seeing him totally sucking face with Michael Ian Black may be more shocking to you than anything in "The Hangover" and "The Hangover Part II" combined.

Is Bradley Cooper the most polarizing actor in Hollywood? Judging by our unscientific polling, it's no question.

For every "OMG, he's so hot!" comment on the web, you will find a sentence with the words "Bradley Cooper" and "douche" in it. We rounded up a few diverse opinions from various message boards and social networking sites to show what an actual conversation would look like between the "Silver Linings Playbook" star's supporters and detractors.

And yes, we know going on screen names alone can't 100 percent confirm the posters' genders, but we went with our best hunches. (Detective_scrotes, we're pretty sure you're a guy, if not in law enforcement.) One thing the Internet can all agree on: People like using exclamation points.

HE: Judging by the company he keeps and "chooses" to act with, I'd say Bradley is a big time douche bag!! I can't think of one of his roles that 20 or more other B-listers couldn't have pulled off. I hope Bradley is at LEAST cheap!!

SHE: Bradley Cooper is incredibly talented...but WOW is he absolutely gorgeous! I never thought I'd have a celebrity crush as huge as Johnny Depp, but it's fair too say Bradley Cooper is a god.

Usually, on-screen tattooing signifies toughness, edginess and a certain amount of invincibility, qualities that Mara’s character, computer hacker Lisbeth Sander, has in spades.

With the dragon tattoo itself being a key part of the murder mystery story, here's a look at some other top body artistry in movies -- mostly sported by heavily muscled and bare-chested bad guys. We think you’ll agree that some of the imagery is practically museum-worthy.

Bradley Cooper, a.k.a. the Sexiest Man Alive (much to the chagrin of Ryan Gosling) was on England's "The Graham Norton Show" bringing his charming brand of pitchmanship to the Blu-ray/DVD release of "The Hangover Part II" when he confirmed a nugget of info that's been floating around the web for awhile.

Pretty much in-line with comments from the series' director Todd Phillips, the Coop made it clear in this pull-quote from The National Ledger that the inevitable "Part III" will be an entirely different animal, and dropped the new locale for the Wolf Pack to trash.

"I hope we'll start shooting next September," said Cooper on the show. "I know [director] Todd Phillips is working on the script. We stuck to the formula in the second one but the third would need to close the trilogy. I think it'll take place in L.A. and not adhere to the structure."

L.A. huh? Don't go out of your way to find somewhere exotic, boys. Although, come to think of it, framing the characters Zach Galifiankis, Ed Helms and Cooper created in their natural habitat could be a great opportunity to dig into their jobs, homelife, i.e. a situation where they might actually be burning some bridges.

Galifiankis already hinted that "The Hangover Part III" would involve breaking his character Alan out of a mental institution, now let's just hope Helms gets a chance to do a piano duet with Randy Newman.

If there's one thing we've learned from "The Hangover Part II," it's that what happens in Utah stays in Utah.

Until now, that is: According to Movieline, a theater in Utah has just been assessed a $1,627 fine for screening "The Hangover Part II" because local authorities deemed the film to have broken regulations prohibiting "sexually explicit" conduct.

And you thought Ed Helms was feeling queasy before.

Helms, of course, features prominently in one of "The Hangover Part II's" most explicit -- and hilarious -- scenes, where he discovers a surprise connection to a transgendered stripper in a Bangkok nightclub. That revelation also happens to include quite a bit of full frontal nudity, which apparently is a no-no in Utah, especially in places that also serve alcohol like Salt Lake City's Brewvies Cinema Pub.

The result? "The Utah Highway Patrol’s liquor enforcement team conducted the sting against Brewvies in June at the request of the liquor-control department, said UHP spokesman Dwayne Baird. The liquor department’s request was based on a complaint by a strip club that it had been cited for sexually explicit violations while Brewvies was getting away with showing equally explicit films."

We're not quite sure mixing alcohol and live strippers is exactly the same thing as mixing alcohol and a movie about Zach Galifianakis being a moron, but there is some good news for film fans in Utah who want to actually, you know, act like adults: Las Vegas is just a short drive down I-15.

And we hear you can watch whatever movies you want there.

It's not often that a movie star has to worry about his face being removed, but that's just the danger that "The Hangover Part II"'s Ed Helms has been facing ever since Warner Bros. was sued over the use of Mike Tyson's iconic tribal tattoo on Helms' pasty mug.

Well, good news for Helms and his face: according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has reached a deal with tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill that will allow Helms to keep his face -- tattoo and all.

Whew. Crisis averted.

Here's how things shook out: as we've mentioned before, Whitmill was the artist who initially created the design for the tattoo that former heavyweight Mike Tyson has been displaying on his face for better part of the last two decades. But this wasn't just any tattoo: Whitmill copyrighted the design, a canny move that paid dividends when Warner Bros. decided to slap the tat on Helms for "The Hangover Part II" without Whitmill's permission.

That in turn led to a lawsuit that threatened to derail the sequel's record-breaking box office run (currently at over $500 million worldwide) or at least result in Helms getting a digital facial for the DVD release. Add in the prospect of a lengthy court battle and Warner Bros. apparently decided it just wasn't worth all this hassle.

Just what the terms of the settlement are is confidential -- Warner Bros. would only say that they had "amicably resolved their dispute" with Whitmill -- but one thing is certain: this time it's Whitmill who will be on the receiving end of the ink.

A whole lot of green ink.

Ink is interesting -- and there are a lot of things you can do with it. For example, if you wanted to, you could use ink to cover half of your face with a tattoo exactly like Mike Tyson's. And then, if you did that, you could learn of another interesting use for ink.

Writing a massive lawsuit.

Yes, in case you haven't heard, Warner Bros. is currently being sued by an artist who claims he has a copyright on the Mike Tyson tattoo design, which the studio used on Ed Helms's face in "The Hangover Part II." But according to The Hollywood Reporter, it may not stay there long, as Warner Bros. is apparently planning to digitally erase the tat when the film goes to DVD. Can anyone say invisible ink?

Yes, it sounds like a tedious undertaking, but in an attempt to prevent judges from doing something crazy like, you know, ordering the movie pulled from theaters, Warner Bros. has filed paperwork with the law indicating that they will use their CGI wizards to replace the tattoo on Helms's face with an entirely different tattoo once the film is done with its theatrical run.

"If the parties are unable to resolve their dispute," the document reads in part, "Warner Bros. does not intend to make any use of the allegedly infringing tattoo after the film ends its run in theaters because Warner Bros. will digitally alter the film to substitute a different tattoo on Ed Helms's face."

Of course, most experts agree that it's pretty unlikely that the case will go to trial, mainly because it's just not worth it to Warner Bros. to risk any part of their $800 million franchise over a goofy visual joke. So they will probably settle out of court. In the meantime, though, the move allows them to defer the trial until the movie is out of theaters anyway, which just proves that in Hollywood, there's only one kind of ink that really matters.

There's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking, as actor-writer-producer Bradley Cooper can attest.

Whether he's polarizing audiences with his alternately handsome/douchey face, attempting to hold his own onscreen with Ryan Gosling, or proving what a legitimate actor he is by treading the boards on Broadway, Cooper is definitely more than the sum of two "Hangover" movies (a hefty sum in and of itself). Heck, the guy even has intents to write and direct… who'd a' thunk it?

Apparently, we can add French raconteur to an already growing list of Cooper attributes with this video of him going all en Francais to an impressed French interviewer as he promotes "The Hangover: Part II," a.k.a. "Very Bad Trip 2." All we understood were the words "Las Vegas," "Todd Phillips," and "beaucoup de succès," especially in the wake of those astounding opening weekend bucks.

All ladies already under the spell of His Cooperness should prepare to get weak in the knees as they watch this clip of the actor looking really at ease as he fluently says a bunch of stuff. *Swoon* Looks like James Franco may have a new rival in the versatility department.

"The Hangover Part II" raked in $105.8 million over the four-day weekend, giving "Kung Fu Panda 2" a karate chop to Po's fuzzy face. Naturally, there's already talk of more "Hangovers" to come. Now that the Wolfpack has conquered (or been conquered by) Las Vegas and Bangkok, where, oh where, could they be headed next?

The stars have been dangling Amsterdam as a possibility.

Last week on the red carpet, The Hollywood Reporter managed to get a tidbit from Jamie Chung about possible destinations for the trio.

"Probably Amsterdam," she told the reporter. "If you think of the coolest, craziest cities in the world, it would have to be Las Vegas, Bangkok, and Amsterdam."

Will Phil, Stu, Alan, and Doug be passing the Dutchie soon? Todd Philips told MTV News that he's certainly not against the idea of a three-peat. "We've joked about a 'Hangover 3,' but no we haven't made any decision… That wouldn't be made for another few months until we saw you know how the audience responded and reacted. I'd be willing to do it just because I love these guys but that's something that's way off." Hmmm, cagey!

On the other hand, Ed Helms told the L.A. Times during Sundance that he was skeptical there would be any more "Hangovers" in his future.

"I doubt it... I don't think Todd [Phillips, the director] would let that happen... I would hope that 'The Hangover' kind of has a dignified legacy, if that makes any sense."

"The Hangover Part II" made big bank over the weekend, but will it last? Everyone involved is way on board, but we'll have to wait a few more weeks to see if audiences are too.

"Bridesmaids" may have proved that ladies know how to make a crowd-pleasingly nasty comedy, but the boys are officially back in town.

Taking lowbrow debauchery to new heights, both cinematically and monetarily, "The Hangover Part II" soared this Memorial Day weekend with a record-breaking box-office that proved you don't need to go to Las Vegas to win big.

The continuing misadventures of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis took the first film's winning formula and used it as a template (Las Vegas = Thailand, missing Doug = missing Teddy, baby = monkey, etc), which is exactly what audiences wanted since it took in an estimated $86.5 million over the weekend, with $118.1 million all-together since hitting the town Thursday. According to Box Office Mojo, that's the largest opening for a live-action comedy, second-highest for an R-rated movie and second-highest of the year after Pirates.

All involved are waking up smiling today, this being an especially big win for director Todd Phillips who, between "Old School," "Due Date" and the "Hangover" series, has become a triumphant engineer of rowdy, bro-centric comedies.

With a "Hangover III" inevitable at this point, we wonder what could be in the cards for their next bout of intoxicated hijinks… Tijuana? Amsterdam? Outer space? It would be pretty cool if the guys went to England, got drunk with Richard Branson and woke up on one of his Virgin Galactic space shuttles with a Martian baby, a score of British table dancers, and Stu sporting some Lady Gaga-style facial spikes. Just sayin'.

Consider Tha Alkaholiks critiquing "The Hangover Part II," the latest Hip Hop-meets-Hollywood match made in heaven. Really, who else could we have called to properly dissect the booze-fueled debauchery of this Bangkok-set comedy sequel?

Like Tash, J-Ro and E-Swift – collectively known as Tha Liks, one of the West Coast's most beloved era "golden era" rap acts, who we're happy to report are prepping a new album this year – tell us, "The Hangover" is pretty much the story of their lives.

Getting some action after seeing "The Hangover Part II" shouldn't be too hard. After all, you're part of the Wolfpack, aren't you?

The key to this endeavor is to appreciate, while not actually engaging in, the extremes to which the Wolfpack indulges. In other words, it's best to approach the evening in the spirit of rambunctiousness without, you know, drinking and partying to the point of amnesia.

So get yourself a facial tattoo (just kidding... for the most part, anyway) and let's map out the perfect "Hangover" date.

Holla, City of Squala!

"The Hangover Part II" is pretty much just like the first "Hangover," except that it trades Las Vegas for Bangkok. If this were 2009 and you were taking your date to see the first movie, we'd tell you to go find a buffet and play the slot machines; but as the setting for the new movie is a bit more exotic, so, too, shall be your pre-show meal.

We're assuming you can't actually go to Thailand like the Wolfpack (though if that's the way you roll, more power to you), so the next best thing would be to eat Thai food. That's right, no burgers or steaks for this romantic dinner -- you're going to feast on Chicken Satay and Pad See Ew. You're going to learn to love curry and hot jasmine tea. And for dessert you're going to have Thai Mango Sticky Rice and Crunchy Thai Fried Bananas. Sounds amazing, doesn't it? Any dish with "sticky" in the title has got to bode well, right?

If you've had Thai food before, then you know of its many alluring delights. If you've never had Thai food before, that's all going to change. Find the best Thai restaurant in town and make yourself a reservation for two. The Wolfpack would do the same thing... except they'd make a reservation for three. Or four, if they were bringing along that chain-smoking capuchin monkey. And they probably would.

Look At -- Don't Play With -- the Monkeys

Yeah, there's a chain-smoking capuchin monkey in "The Hangover Part II." The monkey is also kind of a drug dealer, but we'll let your imagination fill in the blanks with that one. Bad monkey!

It should come as no surprise when we say that this monkey effortlessly upstages the Wolfpack with her crazy monkey antics. You'll see her jump and hop all to and fro, screeching her monkey chatter and making already bad situations unfathomably worse. (That's right, the monkey is a "her" named Crystal -- she's gonna go places after this one, just you wait and see.)

There are safer and more responsible ways to enjoy monkey fun, and you don't need to find one that has a nicotine habit or connections to the criminal underworld. To prepare yourself for the primal energy that shimmers all about in "The Hangover Part II," we recommend a pre-show stop at the zoo to visit your local simian friends. Watch as they yammer and leap from branch to branch! Well, hopefully they'll be putting on a show for you before you see the show -- sometimes they just sit there and stare with a mix of wisdom and paralyzing confusion. But you don't have to limit yourself to just the monkeys. Check out their cousins, the apes. And chimpanzees. And gorillas. Look at them all!

True, your average monkey house doesn't always smell good, but hey, neither does Bangkok.

Observe -- Don't Imitate -- The Wolfpack

Now it's time to watch Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Alan (Zach Galifianakis) wake up to another fine mess. Yes, we said "watch" -- definitely don't do. Enjoy the sight of Stu engaging in forced intimacy with a pre-op transexual. Chuckle in amusement as Phil uses very, very bad language in the middle of an IHOP. Wonder how Paul Giamatti doesn't give himself a heart attack when he explodes with such rage. Ask yourself why director Todd Phillips thought it was a good idea to give Mr. Chow, one of the most intolerable supporting characters in the history of cinema, an even bigger part this time around, and soon realize there is no answer to that question in a sane world. And ponder this: How in the hell does anyone have the patience to deal with freakin' Alan for more than two minutes at a time?

Yes, watch all of these plots unravel and shenanigans unfurl. But do not attempt to engage in any of these activities, as that would lead to nothing but disaster -- for your date and, well, your life.

You don't need to open fire with an Uzi in a strip club, get assaulted with a motorcycle helmet or shoot an animal to have a fine time on your date. Follow these guidelines and stay in control, and we guarantee that the following morning you won't forget anything about the night before.

Everyone's had one of those "Ahh, what happened? Where am I? Who is that? Where are my pants?" kind of mornings. For Phil, Stu, and Alan, that "morning after" feeling is getting to be a career, as the pioneers of the epic hangover are back in the habit once again with "The Hangover Part II."

With the Wolfpack taking the concept of s**t-faced to a whole new level, it seemed only natural to transplant them from the Sodom and Gomorrah of Vegas to the carnal capital of the world, Thailand (or "thigh-land," as Zach Galifianakis pronounces it). In Southeast Asia for Stu's (Ed Helms) wedding, the guys somehow manage to get themselves in another pickle when they lose Stu's fiancée's brother (Mason Lee) and can't recall what happened.

They can't believe history is repeating itself, but we can't wait. So we're packing our bags with plenty of Alka Seltzer, orange juice, and any other remedy required to get rid of the headache and bring on the laughs. Here are some clips from the Todd Phillips comedy -- take two of these and call us in the morning.

1. I Think It Happened Again. Phil (Bradley Cooper) and the others slowly begin to realize that drunken history repeats itself.

2. Hold On! Gangster Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) takes the boys for a little scenic street tour of Bangkok that covers wildlife, gun-wielding motorcycle gangs and ham.

This Memorial Day weekend, families around the country will be breaking out their grills for the first big cookouts of the year and number one on the menu for most Americans will be a wide array of hot dogs, wieners and franks. Yes, this weekend our back yards are going to be filled with sausages.

But that's nothing compared to the sausage party "The Hangover Part II" will be throwing in our theaters.

Get ready, because America's top wieners are about to storm the box office, but according to a new spoiler-laden expose by The Hollywood Reporter, it isn't Nathan's Famous being sold to the world so much as Ken Jeong's Famous. And while the diminutive comedian flashed his kibbles and bits in the first "Hangover" movie, this time around it seems that he's hardly alone, as the film pushes into what iconic raunch director Ivan Reitman calls the "last frontier" of filmmaking: serial male nudity.

"There's been a long tradition of naked and half naked women in films," Reitman said, "so this is a way of upping the ante in terms of erotic explicitness."

Comedy sequels fall into three categories: bad enough to make you wonder if the original was as good as you thought ("Weekend at Bernies II," "Evan Almighty," and far too many others); amusing but less entertaining than the first ("Ghostbusters II," "American Pie 2"); and -- rarest of all -- funny enough to stand on its own merits.

Here's hoping that the men-behaving-badly-again release of "The Hangover Part II" falls into the last group. In the meantime, here are five comedy sequels that aren't just worthy of the originals, but also righteously hilarious on their own.

5. 'Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay' (2008)

In most contexts, Gitmo is no laughing matter; but Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) transcend political sensitivity. The odd-couple duo (Harold's organized, Kumar's a slacker) take their ganja-laced humor to the notorious military prison after getting arrested on a flight to the pot-nirvana of Amsterdam. Despite the presence of gun-toting government agents, "Escape" is no "Bourne" adventure; it's still a stoner comedy at heart, and with the help of friends like Neil Patrick Harris, H & K made us laugh almost as hard as they did in "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle."

4. 'Wayne’s World 2' (1993)

Most movies based on recurring "Saturday Night Live" sketches don't rank very high on "best" lists ("A Night at the Roxbury," "It's Pat"... enough said), so imagine our pleasant surprise when not one, but both "Wayne World" comedies ended up being watchable. As our favorite cable-access basement-dwellers from Aurora, Illinois, plan a music festival, we're treated to visions of Jim Morrison and Sammy Davis Jr., a host of cameos (including a hilarious Christopher Walken) and enough lowbrow zingers to please boys and grown-ups alike.

3. 'The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear' (1991)

Leslie Nielsen, may he rest in peace, was a master of physical comedy and deadpan humor -- both of which are constantly evident in this gut-busting follow-up to the police-drama parody "The Naked Gun." As perpetually clueless Lieutenant Frank Drebin, Nielsen showcased his ability to win a laugh from every line -- especially in his innuendo-filled scenes with love-interest Priscilla Presley or with his partner O.J. Simpson (it's OK to laugh; this was three years before he put on the bloody glove).

2. 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me' (1999)

Mike Myers' career will forever be remembered for his live-action comedies of the '90s and the animated "Shrek" franchise of the 2000s. In his spy-parody sequel to "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," Myers pulled off a comic trifecta by portraying the titular man of mystery, the international supervillain Dr. Evil, and the grotesquely supersized henchman Fat Bastard. But Myers owes as much of his shagadelic success to his supporting players (including Mindy Sterling, Seth Green and Mini-Me Verne Troyer) as he does to catchphrases like "Yeaaah Baby!" and "I want my baby back, baby back, baby back… ribs."

1. 'Christmas Vacation' (1989)

It was tough deciding which Griswold family comedy deserved the honor, but in the end we have to crown this manic holiday classic our favorite. Of course, "European Vacation" was pretty damn funny (if you don't mind puerile gags about phallic-shaped sausages and porn-star wives), but it's ultimately too reminiscent of the far superior original to land the top spot. In "Christmas," we get to see Chuck wild-eyed about his oversized tree, over-the-top lights, and elderly and eccentric relatives. Nobody does slapstick like Chevy Chase, and no other cinematic family can make us laugh like the Griswolds.

Summer Heat: This former model and "All My Children" superstar is finally crawling his way out of the soaps and onto the big screen with a headlining role in "Something Borrowed." In the new rom-com he plays the fiancé of Kate Hudson, the one who her best friend Ginnifer Goodwin "accidentally" sleeps with after a drunken night. Happens. Whenever you see a poster with mega-familiar faces and then catch yourself saying, "What's a 'Colin Egglesfield?'" that usually means this dude just might have the goods.

Starring In: "Bridesmaids" (May 13)
Summer Heat: This adorable star of the CBS sitcom "Mike & Molly" just might be this summer's Zach Galifianakis since she clearly plays the wild card character in "Bridesmaids." Like Zach's Alan Garner in "The Hangover," McCarthy's aggressive, belching Megan has already stolen the trailer for Judd Apatow's attempt to bring raunch to the fairer sex. Best known as Sookie St. James on "Gilmore Girls" as well as being an alumni of comedy troupe The Groundlings, she gets bonus points for being the actual cousin of Jenny McCarthy.

Starring In: "Bridesmaids" (May 13)
Summer Heat: Another stand-out of that crazy lineup of bridesmaids is Kemper, a prominent member of the New York sketch comedy scene who gained fans as Erin Hannon, the perky replacement for Pam's front desk job on "The Office." Before that Kemper managed nearly 20 million views on YouTube for the Derrick Comedy sketch "Blowjob Girl," in which she displayed a lack of finesse performing the title act on a fella. Her "Bridesmaids" character Becca looks to continue Kemper's tradition of the naïve, so-upbeat-they're-scary persona.

Starring In: "Priest" (May 13)
Summer Heat: Featured as one of our 25 Breakout Stars to Watch for in 2011, one of the best Phil Collins releases in decades is the iconic singer's 22-year-old daughter Lily. An actress-model-columnist, Collins caught us in our "Blind Side" opposite Sandra Bullock, and will star in two big productions next year, "Mortal Instruments" and "Odd Thomas." In the meantime, you can worship her in "Priest" as the title character's niece who gets kidnapped by vampires, thus causing Paul Bettany's badass man of the cloth to go all "Taken" on the bloodsuckers.

Starring In: "Everything Must Go" (May 13)
Summer Heat: This son of the late legendary rapper Biggie made a big splash in a small role playing his own father (at a young age) in 2009's "Notorious," but is now co-starring opposite a seriously B.I.G. star: Will Ferrell. In "Everything Must Go," Ferrell plays a down-on-his-luck dude who sets up camp on his lawn selling all his possessions. He befriends a young neighborhood boy named Kenny Loftus, played by the 16-year-old Wallace, in what looks to be a sympathetic, semi-serious turn for both of them.

Starring In: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 18)
Summer Heat: If you've seen some of the larger posters for "Pirates" floating around you may have noticed a striking gentleman holding a mermaid and asked yourself, "who's this chap where Orlando Bloom used to be?" That's Claflin as Phillip Swift, a young missionary who falls for a mermaid named Syrena (Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey) during his voyage with Johnny Depp's Captain Jack. Expect his career to be in full bloom, especially after just landing the part of the Prince in "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Starring In: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 18)
Summer Heat: One of the top It-girl models on planet Earth, this otherwordly Australian has been bit by the acting bug, the side effects of which appear to be her million-dollar legs turning into a fish tail. You see, Ward features in Johnny Depp's latest pirate fling as a mermaid, but perhaps not the kind with a seashell bra that sings "Part of Your World." These mermaids are more of the "seduce men then drag them to their deaths at the bottom of the ocean" variety. Sexy.

Starring In: "The Hangover Part II" (May 26)
Summer Heat: What the hell has the Wolfpack done with Ang Lee's son? This "Hangover" features Stu getting married, and after another wild night with the boys in Bangkok, he loses his fiancé's little bro Teddy, played by Mason Lee. Mason made his film debut as a toddler in papa Ang's 1993 classic "The Wedding Banquet," but this is his first high-profile gig. If his fate is anything like Justin Bartha's in the original, it might not equal a lot of screentime, but it doesn't hurt to have the entire plot revolve around finding your character, which could also prove an excellent audition if they decide to make a "Where's Waldo" movie.

Michael Fassbender

Starring In: "X-Men: First Class" (June 3)
Summer Heat: We always thought Fassbender had a magnetic personality, but this is ridic. After taking on Persians ("300") and Nazis ("Inglourious Basterds"), the German-Irish actor with some of the leading-est leading man looks in the biz is moving forward to the '60s where he'll take on a new enemy: prejudice against mutants. Also, Cubans and Kevin Bacon. Unlike those other two hit films, we have an inkling his character Magneto might just survive this ordeal in prequel country. With Fassbender as the raging yang to James McAvoy's yin, Erik and Professor X are not yet enemies, so expect great chemistry and an X-tra nice new trilogy if all goes well.

Starring In: "Super 8" (June 10)
Summer Heat: In a summer deluged with sequels and comics adaptations, leave it to filmdom's own P.T. Barnum, J.J. Abrams, to add the spice of mystery to the mix with "Super 8." Despite some extended footage screened for reporters, the film and its central creature or force is still shrouded in C.I.A.-level confidentiality. Equally unknown is 15-year-old lead actor Courtney, who makes his film debut as the heroic leader of a team of 1970s kids making an amateur zombie film in Ohio when all hell breaks loose as a… something or other… unleashes chaos.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Starring In: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (Jul. 1)
Summer Heat: Is it even possible to follow-up the crazy-hot force of nature that is Megan Fox? How about with FHM's "World's Sexiest Woman?" Okay, no complaints. Between babes and cars, incendiary filmmaker Michael Bay knows curves, which Rosie has definitely got, but can the Victoria's Secret model act? Since we know the "Transformers" formula by now (robots, explosions, Shia), it's fair to say this ain't exactly an Ibsen play, so we'll leave it to the next director to mine those talents after all the hoopla over the rock 'em sock 'em battlebot trilogy ends.

Starring In: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" (Jul. 15)
Summer Heat: Hogwarts most gifted young Herbologist, Neville Longbottom, has been played quietly sublime by Lewis for the entire decade-long run of "Harry Potter" in cinemas. For the final chapter, Lewis will finally get his chance to shine as an integral part of the battle between Good and He Whose Name Must Not Be Spoken. He'll reform Dumbledore's army, take care of the last Horcrux, and… hey, we're not telling.

Starring In: "Captain America: The First Avenger" (Jul. 22)
Summer Heat: This doll-faced Brit has been making our heart skip several beats as a corset queen in chamber pieces like "The Duchess" and "Brideshead Revisited." Now Atwell will finally see how we do things America-style as Cap's WWII babe-in-arms Peggy Carter, and by "arms" we mean that girl knows her way around a pistol. In the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics Captain America was always moping around in present-day regretting the loss of Carter, and with Atwell in the role that emotion shouldn't be too hard to muster for star Chris Evans.

Starring In: "Conan the Barbarian" (Aug. 19)
Summer Heat: We knew Momoa had the whole "ripped and grim" thing down pat from production stills, but with the brand-spanking new trailer we can finally see him in action as Robert E. Howard's deadly Cimmerian. One word: DAMN. Whether you think the movie itself looks like a rollicking sword and sorcery adventure or a CG-filled heavy metal album cover come to life (we're not sure either of those are bad), Hawaiian Momoa seems poised to obliterate three-decade-old memories of Schwarzenegger in the role. As long as he crushes his enemies, sees them driven before him, and hears the lamentation of their women, we're good.

Summer Heat: Portman is an attractive young lady, but it's not all looks -- the girl graduated from Harvard and she has the brains to prove it. So it's no surprise that the "Black Swan" Oscar-winner is making her foray into the world of comic book movies by playing Jane Foster, scientist and norse God skeptic, in Marvel's tentpole "Thor."

Starring in: "Priest" (May 13)
Summer Heat: The "Nikita" star is no stranger to the summer movie spectrum: she's previously brought her smooth moves and signature brand of leggy ass-kicking to films like "Mission: Impossible 3" and "Live Free or Die Hard," and it never fails to entertain. Now, Maggie Q returns with "Priest," where she'll be preaching the good word (of punching bad guys in the face). Obviously, the "Q" stands for... a "Q" word that means hot lady action hero, which we might be worth making up just for her.

Starring in: "Bridesmaids" (May 13), "X-Men: First Class" (June 3)
Summer Heat: Byrne proved she could bring the funny in last summer's "Get Him to the Greek," and now she's part of the the elite team of lady comics assembled for the raunchy "Bridesmaids." Byrne plays the primp and proper Helen, but the movie is anything but -- few actresses could pull off the gros- out humor in "Bridesmaids" and still come out looking good.

Starring in: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 20)
Summer Heat: Whipping up a fourth installment of "Pirates of the Caribbean" without the main cast is no easy task, but Penelope Cruz shoudn't have a problem filling Keira Knightley's corset. The Spanish actress joins Johnny Depp as Angelica, Jack Sparrow's love interest and partner in his search for the Fountain of Youth. Not that she needs it.

Starring in: "The Hangover Part II" (May 26)
Summer Heat: Chung is the latest bride-to-be that will have to deal with the drunken misadventures of Phil, Stu and Alan, The Wolfpack from the original "Hangover." Fresh from her own beat'em-up adventure in Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch," Chung gets to flex a comedy muscle alongside some of the fastest wordslingers in the West (Hollywood) as Stu's love interest. Hopefully she looks just as adorable when she's screaming at her future hubby to get his butt to the altar.

Starring in: "The Beaver" (May 20), "X-Men: First Class" (June 3)
Summer Heat: What a 2011 it's been for Jennifer Lawrence: she was nominated for an Oscar for her work in "Winter's Bone," her movie "Like Crazy" was a hit at Sundance, she's been cast as the lead in "The Hunger Games" and she has not one, but two movies opening this summer! In "X-Men: First Class," Lawrence takes over the role of Mystique, originally played by Rebecca Romijn. We imagine she'll look just as good in blue paint.

Starring in: "X-Men: First Class" (June 3)
Summer Heat: In comic books, Emma Frost is a stunning blonde psychic who manipulates and trumps her opponents using her sharp wit and curvy body almost as much as she does her super powers. Fitting then that "Mad Men" star January Jones will bring the character to life on the big screen in "X-Men: First Class," as she's been winning us over with those same powers for years. Can't imagine it's too hard for her to read people's minds either.

Blake Lively

Starring in: "Green Lantern" (June 17)
Summer Heat: With all the space aliens,  intergalactic wars and giant-foreheaded madmen, it can be easy to overlook Blake Lively in "Green Lantern," one of the few characters who isn't decked out in prosthetics or CG bodysuits. It's 100 percent-pure Blake, which is what you want when you have someone as enchanting as the "Gossip Girl" star. But don't count her out of the action -- her character Carol Ferris is a test pilot just like Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) and she'll be keeping up with the speedster every step of the way.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Starring in: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (July 1)
Summer Heat: Other than a few Victoria Secret TV specials, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" will be Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's first stab at acting -- and you don't need many details on the movie to know it'll be an explosive debut. Michael Bay treats his ladies right (the first two installments made Megan Fox a worldwide sex symbol), but Huntington-Whiteley has her work cut out for her navigating the ongoing war between shape-shifting robots. Hopefully she exchanged her heels for running shoes!

Starring in: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II" (July 15)
Summer Heat: She's grown from nerdy bookworm to full-fledged starlett, and now we only have one more round of "Potter" with Emma Watson's multifaceted Hermione Granger. Judging from the first glimpses of the film, "Deathly Hallows: Part II" is going to put the wizarding trio through even crazier and more dangerous situations, but as Watson has proved in the past, there's no reason she can't cast deadly spells while looking simply dashing.

Starring in: "Friends With Benefits" (July 22)
Summer Heat: Mila Kunis talking dirty and hooking up with Justin Timberlake. Sounds good to us. The "Black Swan" star returns to her roots (don't forget she's a "That '70s Show" vet and "Family Guy" regular) while exploiting her good looks for this sex comedy that doesn't look to skirt around some of the more uncomfortable (read: hilarious) situations that arise when relationships start forming.

Starring in: "The Smurfs" (July 29)
Summer Heat: Easily the breakout star of the Emmy-winning "Modern Family," Sofía Vergara has simultaneously left us chuckling and picking our jaws off the floor from her combo of comedy and allure. She's the complete package and she'll be flaunting it all this summer in the live-action adaptation of the kids cartoon "The Smurfs." Thankfully, she plays a real person in the movie -- rather than being committed to a tiny blue animated creature.

Olivia Wilde

Starring in: "Cowboys and Aliens" (July 29), "The Change-Up" (August 5)
Summer Heat: Wilde escapes the computer world of "TRON: Legacy" for two projects that let her be a little more like herself. That is, not made of pixels and incredibly attractive. "Cowboys and Aliens" sees the "House" actress fighting extraterrestrials alongside Daniel Craig, while "The Change-Up" is a straight-up R-rated comedy with Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds. Two wildly different projects with one Wilde leading lady.

Starring in: "Crazy, Stupid, Love." (July 29), "Friends With Benefits" (July 22), "The Help" (August 12)
Summer Heat: Emma Stone will be dominating 2012 in the new "Spider-Man" reboot, but this summer she'll bring a little heart to the array of epic visuals and blasting sounds. For fans of the actress who need convincing she's the next great romantic lead, you can catch her (and be subsequently absorbed by her) romancing Ryan Gosling in "Crazy, Stupid, Love.," while her wit will be on full display in the adaptation of the bestseller "The Help." Oh, and she's also in "Friends With Benefits." Amazingly, the world could still use more Emma Stone.

Summer Heat: The Indian actress has been slipping in to lower-budget, dramatic roles since her debut "Slumdog Millionaire" took home Best Picture at the 2009 Oscars, but this summer she'll charge into the world of blockbusters with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes." A welcome change of pace from the usual monotone talent pool in Hollywood, Pinto should have no problem being the best-looking thing on screen -- forget the monkeys, she's co-starring with James Franco.

In fact, we're so focused that we've evaluated and ranked every single movie coming out over the next few months so we can better prioritize our moviegoing time. The result? Our list of the 25 Most Anticipated Movies of the Summer. Enjoy -- and pass the relish.

25. 'The Change-Up'

Starring: Jason Bateman, Ryan Reynolds, Olivia Wilde
The Scoop: Hollywood has been making body-switching films for years -- think "Freaky Friday" or "18 Again" or, you know, "Body Switch" -- but never quite like this one. Here's the distinctly adult premise behind "The Change-Up:" A married guy (Jason Bateman) switches bodies with his swinging single buddy (Ryan Reynolds) so he can hopefully have an affair with a clueless co-worker. The potential for both laughs and lawsuits is off the chart, but with a cast that also includes "TRON: Legacy's" Olivia Wilde, we're on board either way. | Watch the trailer.

24. 'Fright Night'

Starring: Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse
The Scoop: We're not usually a fan of remakes, especially when the original is already a beloved cult classic like 1984's "Fright Night," but this time we're making an exception thanks to the totally rad cast. Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek") plays a horror buff who, realizing that his neighbor (Colin Farrell!) is a vampire, turns to his friend (Christopher Mintz-Plasse!) and a vampire expert (David Tennant!!!) for help. We're dying for a clever and fun horror film and with a cast like this, it looks like "Fright Night" is a film we can really sink our teeth into.

23. 'Bad Teacher'

Starring: Cameron Diaz, Lucy Punch, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel
The Scoop: How much Justin Timberlake can you handle? Well, if you're like us, the answer is "a whole heck of a lot," which is good considering J.T. has not one but two rom-coms coming out just five days apart this July (see #14 for the other). Even weirder? He's starring opposite his ex-girlfriend, Cameron Diaz, in this one: Diaz and Lucy Punch play two teachers making a romantic play for the same guy -- that's Timberlake -- who also happens to be one of their co-workers. A healthy workplace environment, both on and off screen? No. A healthy comedy environment? Heck yeah. We can't wait to see what Timberlake pulls out of his joke box this time. | Watch the trailer.

22. 'Kung Fu Panda 2'

Starring: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan
The Scoop: Generally speaking, being called a fat panda is usually considered to be an insult, albeit a really weird one. But if you're Jack Black, it's nothing but a compliment considering that the first "Kung-Fu Panda" earned eleventy bajillion dollars worldwide en route to becoming a surprise smash hit. Angelina Jolie and Jackie Chan are also back to lend this madcap martial arts crowdpleaser some major star power. Amidst all the bombast and explosions of the usual summer fare, we're glad that there's at least one film we can enjoy with the whole family. | Watch the trailer.

21. 'Priest'

The Scoop: If you're a hardcore devotee of offbeat Korean sci-fi manga -- and really, who isn't -- then you already know all about the new big-budget comic book adaptation "Priest." For everyone else, here's the dilly: Paul Bettany plays a priest in a post-apocalyptic world where the apocalyptic part was caused by a giant war against vampires. When some of them return, Bettany drops his vow of silence and renews his vow of ass-kicking in a quest to rescue his niece from certain, undead doom. In your face, "Twilight." | Watch the trailer.

20. '30 Minutes or Less'

Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson
The Scoop: Here's the set up for the new comedy from the offbeat team of Jesse Eisenberg and Danny McBride: Eisenberg plays a pizza delivery guy who is kidnapped by a creep (McBride) and forced to rob a bank with a bomb strapped to his chest. Not everyone is laughing, of course -- some critics feel it's in somewhat poor taste considering it's based on a true story that left the pizza delivery guy dead after the bomb blew his head off -- but when Hollywood wants to make comedy omelets, eggs must die, you know? We're mainly psyched to see Eisenberg reunited with his "Zombieland" director, Ruben Fleischer; one way or another, it should be memorable. | Watch the trailer.

19. 'Larry Crowne'

Starring: Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston
The Scoop: After 2007's underrated dramedy "Charlie Wilson's War" went into the tank, we despaired at ever getting the chance to see the dream team of Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts together again. Now, though, they're not only together again, but this time around they have what seems to be a more topical and accessible storyline in "Larry Crowne." Hanks play the titular hero, a regular guy who gets laid off due to the tough economy and goes back to school; Roberts is the jaded teacher who gets pulled out of her rut as a result. We're digging it. And hey, you know what they say: second time's the charm. | Watch the trailer.

18. 'Horrible Bosses'

Starring: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis
The Scoop: Quick disclaimer: We usually don't find murder to be funny. It's just gauche, you know? But we're going to make an exception for "Horrible Bosses," which tells the story of three oppressed workers who decide to improve their lot in life by whacking each other's bosses. The clincher? As funny as the employees are (Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day), the employers are even more awesome (seriously, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston?!). Just one word of warning: Do not, under any circumstances, try this at home.

17. 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'

The Scoop: At this point, it's pretty clear that James Franco can do anything: act, write, paint, host the Oscars (Okay that last one may have been a stretch). Heck, he's probably a really good chef, too. But this summer, Franco is going to add a new position to his resume: monkey wrangler. And what a monkey -- Andy Serkis, who rose to fame playing the CGI construct Gollum in "The Lord of the Ring," co-stars as a primate who gains self-awareness and leads his fellow animals on an anti-humanity revolution. When you think about it, it's almost incredible that the "Planet of the Apes" franchise is still going strong more than 40 years after it began, but with talent like this, who knows. 16. 'The Smurfs'

The Scoop: Smurfs are the original little blue pill: They can perk up even the most deflated film fan. And now they're coming to life in a blend of live action and animation featuring Neil Patrick Harris as a regular guy whose life gets turned upside down when a passel of Smurfs lands in his lap. Add in the always excellent Hank Azaria as the ultimate embodiment of evil, Sauron Gargamel, and there's just one thing left to say: "The Smurfs" is going to be smurfing smurfy. | Watch the trailer.

15. 'Green Lantern'

The Scoop: DC Comics and Warner Bros. look to copy Marvel's "Iron Man" success by unveiling their own second banana franchise, "Green Lantern." The latest superhero gig for Ryan Reynolds ("Blade: Trinity," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," etc.) finds his legendary abs decked out in emerald when a dying alien cop appoints him the new sheriff of the solar system. Take that, "Cowboys & Aliens." Of course, Peter Sarsgaard has something to say about it, due to the fact that his brain has mutated to gigantic, evil proportions, but hey -- we're sure it's nothing a green energy construct in the shape of a boxing glove can't solve. | Watch the trailer.

14. 'Friends With Benefits'

Starring: Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, Patricia Clarkson
The Scoop: "Black Swan's" Mila Kunis stars opposite Justin Timblerlake in a film about two friends who start having casual sex with each other -- and then things stop being quite so casual. If this sounds familiar, it might be because "Black Swan's" Natalie Portman also starred in a movie (opposite Kunis' "That 70's Show" co-star Ashton Kutcher) earlier this year (called "No Strings Attached") with the exact same plot. Despite this eerie coincidence, though, we're really looking forward to seeing the on-screen chemistry between Timberlake and Kunis, who smolder throughout the enticing trailer. Now if only we could get Portman's "Black Swan" dancing double to film her own derivative rom-com alongside Wilmer Valderrama… | Watch the trailer.

And considering Pixar's recent track record of turning out sequels that are as good or arguably even better than the originals (see: "Toy Story 3"), we have high hopes for "Cars 2," which brings back Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy as automotive buddies Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater and adds the legendary Michael Caine as British spy car Finn McMissile. 11. 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'

The Scoop: There are rom-coms and then there are comedies that also have romance in them. "Crazy, Stupid, Love" falls into the latter category, thanks in part to the presence of Steve Carell, who here looks to extend his range beyond mere comedy and into the realm of honest-to-god emotion. And how does he do that? Well, he's a dude whose marriage -- to the always excellent Julianne Moore -- is on the rocks, big time. So he turns to a pal (Ryan Gosling for help getting back in the game, not realizing that said pal is himself on the hooks of a heartbreaker (Emma Stone, you guys!). If there's one thing we know about rom-coms, it's that they live and die on the strength of their casts -- and for "Crazy, Stupid, Love" that means crazy stupid awesome. | Watch the trailer.

10. 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'

The Scoop: Let's be real for a minute: "Transformers 2" was kind of crap. We're not hating, we're just giving tough love to a franchise that we expected more from. And based on the sweet trailers for "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," it looks like those expectations are about to be met, as Michael Bay ups the ante once more, this time dumping Megan Fox in favor of supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and bringing back Shia LaBeouf for his third tussle with the evil Decepticons. We're going to go out on a limb and predict that "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" won't just make you forget "Transformers 2" -- it will end up being the best film in the trilogy. The Scoop: We admit it: When we first heard about Marvel's plans to adapt "Thor" for the big screen, we were a bit skeptical. But then we starting seeing the posters, the trailers and the interviews and we became instant converts to the church of Odin. Director Kenneth Branagh, no stranger to epics himself (see: "Henry V," "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets") has put together an all-star supporting cast (Oscars winners Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman, just for starters) and found the perfect leading man -- or is that leading god -- in Chris Hemsworth. Well, the important thing is that they came up with it now and "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau is on the cusp of becoming the definitive master of the modern popcorn flick. Daniel Craig as an amnesiac cowboy with a mysterious connection to the alien invaders? Harrison Ford -- Han Solo himself -- as a grumpy cowpoke looking for a piece of Craig's hide? 4. Captain America: The First Avenger'

The Scoop: Before the first footage of "Captain America: The First Avenger" was released, the question on everyone's mind was whether audiences would buy Chris Evans as yet another superhero (following "The Fantastic Four," "The Losers," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," hell, he was even in "TMNT"), much less the paragon of American ideals that is Captain America. Once the first commercials and trailers came out, though, the question became less about Chris Evans and more about how the heck any of us were going to survive until July 22 without literally exploding from excitement. 3. 'Super 8'

The Scoop: The marketing campaign was impressive: With little more than a few secretive comments, some mysterious footage and a lot of word-of-mouth buzz, "Super 8" became one of the most talked about films of the year. And the pedigree behind "Super 8" is even more impressive: Steven Spielberg produced it and J.J. Abrams both wrote and directed it. But the most impressive thing about "Super 8" and its tale of kids shooting a movie who accidentally film a train wreck (that may or may not involve aliens) is the timeless combination of childhood nostalgia and ass-kicking action. 2. 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Starring: Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane
The Scoop: Here's the bad news: You're only going to see Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom if they happen to buy tickets at the same theater. But the good news is, that means there's more room for new characters -- such as Penelope Cruz's femme fatale and Ian McShane's nefarious Blackbeard -- and new horizons like London and Florida. And most important of all, Johnny Depp is back as Captain Jack Sparrow, braided back hair and all, as he searches for the Fountain of Youth. 1. 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2'

The Scoop: A lot has happened in the last 14 years. Wars have been fought. Disasters have come and gone. The world has changed, as has your own life: perhaps you got married or perhaps you moved to a new city or perhaps you were born. And through it all, "Harry Potter" has been there as a source of entertainment and for some, even inspiration. Now, finally, it all comes to a close as we say goodbye to Harry, Ron and Hermione after watching them grow up right alongside us. Oh, they just need to plead "parody" and they'll get away scott free.

Or will they? "The Hangover Part II" has certainly had its share of production troubles. It took forever to agree on terms in getting the original cast back together, and then there was all that hullabaloo over Mel Gibson's would-be cameo.

And now, with only a few weeks until the film's theatrical release, Mike Tyson's tattoo artist (of all people) is now stirring up more trouble, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The tattoo that ends up on Ed Helms' face in "The Hangover Part II" bears a strong resemblance to Tyson's real-life face tattoo. In fact, it's most certainly a direct reference to it, as Tyson himself appears in both "Hangover" movies.

But no matter what the circumstances are surrounding the artwork, it's copyright infringement, according to S. Victor Whitmill, designer of what's known as the "Original Tattoo" on Mike Tyson's face.

This is kind of a big deal, as Whitmill is not only suing Warner Bros. for the copyright issues but is also requesting an injunction to stop the film's theatrical release.

We're sure this will get settled fairly quickly and Whitmill will either walk away with a nice payoff or be told to take a hike, but let's just hope the movie itself has been worth all of the fuss.

Looks like " The Hangover" director Todd Phillips is making a funny movie offer we can't refuse.

While chatting it up with MTV News, Phillips dished out on how the gangster epic "The Godfather" inspired him to make comedic movie greatness with  " The Hangover Part II."

"I changed the cover page and wrote 'The Hangover Part II,' because I think the film lives up to or exceeds the first one. It was very much a nod to 'The Godfather,'" said Phillips.

Always take a comedy director's words with a grain of salt. Believe it or not, they tend to make jokes.

While speaking to Total Film magazine, "The Hangover Part II," director Todd Phillips let it slip that the newest addition to the cast, Crystal, a tiny capuchin monkey that follows The Wolfback around Thailand, was taught to smoke cigarettes and, subsequently, has become addicted to them.

"I wanted the monkey to smoke so we had to train her to. Now I have PETA after me because the monkey's become addicted to cigarettes. She was just shooting Cameron Crowe’s movie 'We Bought A Zoo.' And the monkey won’t stop smoking."

The controversy comes in the wake of murmurs that "Hangover Part II" studio Warner Bros. pulled the recent trailer (possibly due to a simulated monkey sex act). Now, the tiny ape is under even more heat. The idea of hooking a simian to nicotine didn't fly too well with the animal lovers, and in true Internet fashion, a fury against Phillips exploded with the story burning across the web like wildfire. Somewhere, the makers of the 1989 "It looks just as stupid when you do it" anti-smoking ad were crying.

Thankfully, news now comes in that  -- ha, ha, ha! -- the rumor was just a joke spun horribly out of control. Phillips contacted MovieLine via e-mail to dispel the hazy story:

"When you are doing press for a film, it tends to get repetitive, lots of the same questions over and over. Sometimes I like to mix it up with the journalists. Obviously, the monkey in the film NEVER smoked a single cigarette. There are people on set whose sole job is to protect that monkey. Even if I wanted her to smoke it wouldn’t be allowed. By the way, she also appears to do cocaine in the movie, but I guarantee you that she didn’t do that either (I can’t, however, comment on Ken Jeong’s cocaine use in the film)."

Case settled. Phillips goes on to explain why the idea that anyone believed his joke is ludicrous (while taking a jab at the folks who ran with it), but in this day and age, what isn't possible? It takes approximately two seconds to find a video of a monkey smoking on YouTube, so believing that "The Hangover Part II" enlisted a primate with a penchant for cigarettes isn't as unbelievable as the director may think.

Hey guys, you know how excited everyone was to see the much-buzzed about cameo by Liam Neeson in the upcoming comedy event of the summer, "The Hangover Part II?" Well, guess what?

That sound you just heard was a million hearts breaking, as Variety is reporting that Neeson's part has been cut from the film -- and not only that, it's been recast and reshot with an entirely different actor.

First up, the background: following the hilariously unexpected cameo by Mike Tyson in the first "Hangover" back in 2009, director Todd Phillips originally planned to up the ante even further by bringing in controversy magnet Mel Gibson for a bit part in the sequel. But after "Hangover" star Zach Galifianakis led a protest at the idea of helping the embattled star rehab his image, Phillips dumped Gibson in favor of Neeson. There was, like, a whole big thing about it.

It's a bit ironic, then, that Neeson has now himself been cut. But before you go into a panic, no, Neeson didn't assault his ex or go on a drunken, racist tirade or anything. Turns out that the problem had nothing to do with Neeson at all, but rather with something a little more boring -- editing issues that rendered Neeson's scene nonsensical, requiring it be re-filmed.

So who's going to be standing in for Neeson since he's too busy with his own movies to redo the scene? None other than indie auteur Nick Cassavetes, who has appeared in or directed dozens of movies, including the decidedly non-indie hit "The Notebook."

"We were in a complete time crunch," Phillips explained, "so I called up Nick and asked if he would do the part." And it's a good thing he was available -- "The Hangover" is set to debut in theaters in just six weeks.

A debut it will now have to make without Liam Neeson.

Last week, the full trailer for summer's biggest comedy, "The Hangover Part II," debuted in all of its drunken glory -- but apparently the hazy antics of the Wolf Pack may have been too much for some MPAA members.

After Warner Bros. (the studio behind "The Hangover" sequel) issued a mandate to theaters, asking them to pull the trailer from rotation in front of "Source Code," The Hollywood Reporter started sniffing out what, exactly, was the problem. According to their write-up, Warner Bros. failed to "properly vet the final version [of the trailer] with the MPAA," and took immediate action to resolve the issue.

Further digging revealed that the ratings board, a particularly stingy bunch when it comes to sexual conduct, was none too amused by a scene in which Zach Galifianakis puts a bottle under a man's sarong and convinces his monkey friend to bite it. Apparently the board found the little chimp munching on a man's "wenis" to be distasteful, even for R-rated audiences.

The practice of releasing "red band" trailers, spots deemed inappropriate to play in non-R movies, is becoming increasingly popular on the Internet, but the original "Hangover Part II" trailer aimed for the coveted green band, which would allow it to play in full rotation in theaters. Now, Warners will have to recall the preview and recut it for a new debut. The goal is to have it out with next Friday's "Scream 4" and let interested parties discover the monkey sex act when "The Hangover Part II" hits theaters May 26.

"I can't believe this is happening again!"

And with that refrain from Stu, we launch into what looks to be the most envelope-pushing comedy sequel of all time, if the new full-length trailer for "The Hangover: Part II" has anything to say about it.

Oh yes, they're all back, and it looks like the Wolfpack may have really screwed the pooch this time. It seems the boys have flown to Thailand for Stu's wedding, and even though they remembered their passports, they definitely left their inhibitions behind.

After the events of the last film, Stu (Ed Helms) is not taking any chances, but his plans for a simple wedding brunch go awry, if by "awry" you mean "completely out-of-freakin'-control." Once again they wake up after some crazy shenanigans, and this time they don't even know what city they're in, and although Doug (Justin Bartha) is perfectly fine, the brother of Stu's fiancé is nowhere to be found.

Besides Phil (Bradley Cooper) and a freshly bald-headed Alan (Zach Galifianakis), we also get glimpses of Ken Jeong's Leslie Chow and a new monkey companion with a Rolling Stones jacket. All we know is the first movie became an instant bro-culture classic, and this new one is clearly going all-out to please anyone who ever laughed at extreme drunken misfortune.

This summer is going to be a big one at the movies.

It's hard to pick just one film to be excited about. But if we were forced to choose, we'd be tempted to pick "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2." We know what we're in for, and we're so eager to see the last chapter play out in all its dark, sad, and triumphant glory.

Then there's that other "Part 2" to get pumped about: "The Hangover." We simply can't wait to see what the boys will be up to next.

But if those "Part 2s" have actually slipped your mind (with those recent trailers for "Thor," "Captain America" and "Super 8," it's understandable), then just look at these brand new posters.

Warner Bros. debuted the poster for on their official Harry Potter Facebook page today, and it's really quite stark and brutal.

They've omitted the rest of the cast. There's no Hogwarts in the background. It's just Harry and Voldemort, one on one, with the Elder Wand between them. Devoted Potter fans remember that this was originally Dumbledore's wand, and is one of the three Deathly Hallows. Voldemort covets it because he believes it will allow him to finally defeat Harry, and the final shot of the film was of Voldemort obtaining it. But Harry has plans of his own, and as you can see from the poster, they will leave him battered, bloody and almost beaten. If you had any doubt the final film wouldn't actually be as dark as the book, you only need to look at this poster to be reassured.

Warner Bros. also gave us a peek at the handsome boys of "The Hangover: Part II", where they find themselves dazed, confused and permanently maimed in Thailand.

Once again, it's a wedding celebration that finds them celebrating (it's Stu's wedding), and we're guessing they end up with more dangerous and mind-altering substances in their bodies, and they once again adopt an exotic animal, but we're not sure why that animal is dressed in a denim vest. But we know we're going to have a really good time finding out, and not just because Bradley Cooper looks even better when he's half-awake. Hmm, maybe this is the movie we're most excited for....

If ain't broke, don't fix it.

Apple has released the first trailer for "The Hangover: Part II," a follow up to the surprise hit of summer 2009, and it looks like just what you'd expect from another round of crazy, alcoholic hijinks.

Everyone's back: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha and even Ken Jeong, the crime boss of the first movie, but how they all make their way to Thailand is something of a mystery.

The teaser is sparse on details, playing up the return of the main trio more than actual plot points from the movie. From descriptions, it's known that the "wolf pack" (as the trailer is referring to them) travels across the Pacific for Stu's [Helms] wedding...and another crazy night out ensues. At some point during this new adventure, it appears Stu gets a facial tattoo not unlike Mike Tyson's. Backstory! Intrigue!

The first "Hangover" had one of the more legendary trailers of all time, so it was a smart move not to duplicate what made that minute-long peak so striking. Instead, we get a friendly reminder that, hey, there's a new "Hangover" movie and we should probably buy our tickets now.

Paul Giamatti may be a recent Golden Globes winner, but he's about to get a seriously nasty hangover. Or, at least, play a nasty dude in "Hangover 2."

"I play a bad guy in it," Giamatti confessed to MTV News during the Sundance Film Festival.

Regardless of how Giamatti will fit into "The Hangover 2" -- Ken Jeong is returning, after all -- we're sure he'll help make this party just as drunkenly hilarious as the first.

Okay, we can all come to an agreement that Paul Giamatti, the shouting-prone actor who somehow made schlubby cool, is a living legend. If he got hit by a bus tomorrow, "American Splendor," "Sideways," and "John Adams" alone would be enough to warrant his being the fifth head on Mount Rushmore.

But that's not enough for Giamatti, no sir. He's really going for the win by taking part in the exquisite debauchery that will no-doubt take place in the Thailand-set "The Hangover: Part II," and masterful character actor Ken Jeong is along for the ride.

Paul G. did an interview with Metro while promoting "Barney's Version," and teased that his "sort of" bad guy in the sequel will be in league with Dr. Ken's reprise of Las Vegas gangster Leslie Chow.

"A little bit like him, yes," said Giamatti. "In fact, I have something to do — I’m connected to him in a way. I think they don’t want too many plot points revealed, but I have something that involves Ken Jeong’s character."

Describing the filming in Bangkok as pretty wild and crazy, the actor is just one of several high-profile thesps lending their visage to Todd Phillips' insane roster, which includes Liam Neeson and former President Bill Clinton.

Since Clinton and Giamatti are both Yale men, we assume they spent time in Bangkok reminiscing about their old alma mater over milk and cookies. Eh-hem.

Now Seth Rogen looks to update the legend for a new generation with a post-modern, ironic take on the whole superhero concept: this time around, it's his faithful sidekick, Kato (Jay Chou), who does the actual butt-kicking. And since "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" director Michael Gondry is behind the camera, we're guessing this version has a pretty good chance at sticking. Watch the trailer 

'The Roommate'

The Scoop: Colleges are pretty scary places. Besides all that mandatory learning nonsense, you've got your parties and your school loans and your peer-induced social anxiety. But the scariest part of going away to college? Getting stuck with a random roommate. That's pretty much the entire premise behind "The Roommate," which stars Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly as co-eds who are assigned the same room -- and, as it happens, the same nightmares thanks to a personal relationship that gets way, way too personal (think "Single White Female: The College Years"). It's every student's worst nightmare come true.

The Scoop: Legendary sci-fi writer Philip K. Dick has had so many movies based on his works you'd think by now Hollywood would be reduced to adapting his grocery lists. Luckily for Tinseltown, however, Dick was renowned for his Speed-induced ability to churn out an incredible volume of work -- including the latest project of his to see the silver screen, "The Adjustment Bureau." In typical Dick fashion, this story almost defies a simple description, but here's our try: Matt Damon plays a politician whose life takes a turn for the weird when he meets a mysterious ballerina whose secrets could unravel a vast conspiracy. 'Rango'

Starring: Johnny Depp, Isla Fisher, Timothy Olyphant
The Scoop: Over the course of his long career, Johnny Depp has often been compared to a chameleon thanks to his ability to immerse himself in any role. Well, that should come in handy with "Rango," since he is literally playing a chameleon: Rango is a lizard who, through a series of incredible circumstances, ends up becoming the sheriff of an Old West town. This animated feature reunites Depp with Gore Verbisnki, who famously directed the star in the first three "Pirates of the Caribbean" films. 'Red Riding Hood'

The Scoop: Hey guys, remember Catherine Hardwicke? Back in the day (that is to say, 2008), she was on top of the world, having set the record for the highest grossing film ever directed by a woman, a little something called "Twilight." And then, she kinda got dumped by the studio. Well, now she's back with an edgy, goth-modern take on the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. 

This time around, though, Red ain't so little; instead, she's played by Amada Seyfried as a hot young woman whose snowbound medieval village is under attack by a werewolf. If living well truly is the best revenge, we think Hardwicke is about get her payback in spades. | Watch the trailer 

'Paul'

Starring: Seth Rogen, Simon Pegg, Kristen Wiig, Nick Frost
The Scoop: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have made a career lampooning Hollywood genres, from horror ("Shawn of the Dead") to action ("Hot Fuzz"). Now they take on -- or take down -- sci-fi with "Paul." The premise is pretty simple: Pegg and Frost play two dorks who, while on a trip to see Area 51, pick up an alien hitchhiker by the name of Paul (animated through CGI with voicework from Seth Rogen). Paul, it turns out, is just as big a loser as they are, which leads to hilarity on all sides, especially when you throw in the always fantastic Kristen Wiig. Heck yeah. | Watch the trailer 

'Sucker Punch'

Starring: Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish
The Scoop: Critics of Zack Snyder have claimed that his movies fetishize their subjects: from the oiled bare chests of "300" to the spandex sex of "Watchmen," his stylish and lovingly lavish fight scenes combine romance and violence in ways that many critics don't like. Well, we have a suggestion for those folks: Don't go see "Sucker Punch," because seriously, things are about to be taken to a whole new level. That's because "Punch" features a slew of hot chicks trying to escape from a mental institution via the use of machine guns, grenades and dragons -- all while rocking school-girl outfits and samurai swords. 'The Beaver'

The Scoop: Imagine if Mel Gibson ran the Muppets? The mere thought is probably like a punch to your brain, but as crazy as it sounds, that's pretty much the idea behind "The Beaver." Follow along: Mel Gibson plays a down-on-his-luck loser whose life takes a sudden and bizarre turn when he wakes up one day to find a beaver puppet on his hand. At first it's a godsend, as the beaver's confident personality cleans up Gibson's life. But when the beaver refuses to give up control, Gibson has to fight to save his family from the dark menace on the end of his arm. 'Arthur'

The Scoop: Once upon a time, there was a slovenly rogue of a Brit by the name of Dudley Moore who charmed audiences with his patented combination of humor and off-color antics. 

Moore, sadly, is no longer with us, but his legacy now lives on in Russell Brand, who gamely steps into Moore's shoes in this remake of Moore's most famous film, "Arthur." Dame Helen Mirren gives the whole proceeding a much needed air of respectability in the role of Arthur's nanny, while rising star Greta Gerwig supplies the hots as his object d' affection. This should be something to see. 

'Your Highness'

Release Date: April 8
Starring: Danny McBride, Zooey Deschanel, James Franco, Natalie Portman
The Scoop: We love "Harry Potter" and "The Lord of the Rings" as much as the next guys, but sometimes even we have to admit all that self-serious fantasy stuff can start to get just a wee bit ridiculous at times. Luckily, Danny McBride exists for just this reason. The divine plot of "Your Highness:" James Franco (seriously, is there anything he can't do?) is a prince who has to go on one of those typical fantasy quests to save his true love -- only instead of Aragorn or Hermione helping him, his posse consists of his dumbass brother Thad (McBride, of course). This may be the first Medieval stoner comedy. | Watch the trailer 

'Scream 4'

Starring: Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette
The Scoop: Yes, that's right: The horror movie you thought you would never see is finally here. And "Scream 4" carries with it not only the baggage of fan expectations, but also an entirely different kind of baggage: stars Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who met on the set of the original "Scream" and later married, announced their divorce right after filming ended on this one. Youch. We're not sure how the murder mystery is going to unfold this time around (there's also a new class of cast members, including Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettierre), but we're pretty sure of one thing -- the onscreen chemistry between the cast members is likely to be as sharp as Ghostface's knife. | Watch the trailer 

'Water for Elephants'

Starring: Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz
The Scoop: Move over, Dumbo, because there's a new elephant movie in Hollywood these days and if the legion of Twi-Hards have anything to say about it, "Water for Elephants" is about to become the new gold standard in pachyderm cinema. That, of course, is because the lead role is being played by that brooding hair factory Robert Pattinson, whose famous locks are on full display in this period piece about a guy who joins a circus only to fall in love with the ringleader's wife (Reese Witherspoon in her first cougariffic role). The ringleader, though, is "Inglourious Basterds" bastard Christoph Waltz, so RPattz just may be screwing around with the wrong guy. You know what they say: hair today, gone tomorrow. 'Fast Five'

Starring: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson
The Scoop: Just how many times can the cast and crew of "Fast and the Furious" replay their tried-and-true formula of hot girls, car chases and gunplay? We're not sure, but the answer is "at least five." This time around, though, "Fast Five" adds a couple of wrinkles to the proceedings in the form of a new, menacing foe (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the role of a government agent) and a great new locale (the maze-like slums of Rio de Janeiro). If they keep coming up with cool twists like these, we're looking forward to seeing the next five films in the series. | Watch the trailer

'Thor'

Starring: Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman
The Scoop: Geeks and pundits alike have been debating "Thor" almost from the moment it was announced: Can Marvel catch lightning in a bottle a second time and turn a relatively unknown superhero into a blockbuster franchise like they did with "Iron Man?" Or is this going to be another "Watchmen"-style flop? Well, one thing we've learned over the years is that the best way to end a debate is with a giant hammer right to the face. That's pretty much what Marvel is giving fans with this high-octane thriller. And while star Chris Hemsworth doesn't have quite the same Q Rating as Robert Downey Jr., director Kenneth Branagh is wisely hedging his bets with big names in key supporting roles -- namely crowd pleasers Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman. 'Something Borrowed'

Starring: Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, Colin Egglesfield
The Scoop: "Big Love's" Ginnifer Goodwin is set to hit the big time when "Something Borrowed" comes out this May. That's because she seems to have the perfect setup to finally launch an A-list movie career: a popular co-star (Kate Hudson) and a winning premise (she plays a woman who falls in love with her best friend's fiancé). Sure, it's hard to come up with something new in the always crowded world of Hollywood romantic comedies, but we think that Goodwin is just the right person to break the rom-com mold -- because in the world of cinema, she's truly "something new." 

'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Release Date: May 20
Starring: Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane
The Scoop: Keira Knightley? Gone. Orlando Bloom? Gone. And Johnny Depp? Well, he's still here, which pretty much ensures that we'll be here as well when "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" opens. Because, honestly, let's face it: As much as we love Knightley and Bloom, it's Captain Jack Sparrow that puts butts in the seats. And this time around he has some new faces (Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane) and new places (London, Florida) up his sleeves when this story about the search for the Fountain of Youth arrives. 'The Hangover Part II'

The Scoop: One of the best things about the surprise smash hit "Hangover' was just that -- it was a surprise. So will the sequel be as funny now that everyone knows what the schtick is? Well, consider this: Former president Bill Clinton appears in the film. And consider this: Mel Gibson doesn't, after the cast refused to let him rehab his image at their expense. Sure, that last part doesn't necessarily sound funny, but it proves that this time, the gang from "Hangover" knows exactly what it's doing. And that's a pretty scary -- and pretty funny -- concept. 

'X-Men: First Class'

Starring: James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence
The Scoop: As much as we all swooned over Hugh Jackman's hairy avenger Wolverine, the true heart of the original "X-Men" trilogy was the ideological struggle between Professor Charles Xavier and his more militant opposite, Magneto. "X-Men: First Class," which turns back the clock to the days when the two were best buddies, aims to explain how their paths diverged, while also giving Hollywood the chance to reboot the franchise without having to pay A-listers like Jackman and Ian McKellen. Hey, if it means more chance of more movies with more mutants, then we're all for it. 

'Super 8'

Release Date: June 10
Starring: Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, Kyle Chandler
The Scoop: Remember back when "Cloverfield" took the country by storm, thanks in large part to its super-secret viral campaign that left pretty much everything -- including the premise -- up to the imagination? Well, it's time for round two, because once again J.J. Abrams is back with a movie so secret only his hair stylist knows for sure what it's about. We gathered this much from the creepy trailer, though: It has to do with some kind of alien (probably) escaping from the government (maybe) and it's executive produced by Steven Spielberg (definitely). Let the buzz commence. 

'Bad Teacher'

Release Date: June 17
Starring: Cameron Diaz, Lucy Punch, Justin Timberlake, Jason Segel
The Scoop: Fresh off his almost-Oscar worthy hype from "The Social Network," Justin Timberlake is back and this time he's getting funny. Yes, the man behind SNL's "Dick in a Box" is taking his first stab at big screen comedy (we refuse to count "The Love Guru"), this time opposite Cameron Diaz rather than his own entombed junk. Diaz and Lucy Punch play two teachers who both make a romantic play for the same guy -- J.T. -- who also happens to be one of their co-workers. A healthy workplace environment? No. A healthy comedy environment? Heck yeah. We can't wait to see what Timberlake pulls out of his box this time. 

'Green Lantern'

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard
The Scoop: DC Comics and Warner Bros. look to copy Marvel's "Iron Man" success by unveiling their own second banana franchise, "Green Lantern." The latest superhero gig for Ryan Reynolds ("Blade: Trinity," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine) find his abs decked out in emerald when a dying alien cop appoints him the new sheriff of the solar system. 

Unfortunately, Peter Sarsgaard's evil mastermind, Hector Hammond, has different ideas, which happens when your brain mutates to gigantic proportions. Will fans flock to see the throwdown? Or should DC stick to Batman and Superman and leave the rest of the Superfriends to the cartoons? One of the biggest questions of the year can only be answered one way: by your wallet.

'Cars 2'

Starring: Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Michael Caine
The Scoop: Can Pixar do anything wrong? If the evidence of the past 15-plus years means anything, the answer is no, which is itself reason enough to be psyched about "Cars 2." Other good reasons to get excited: "Toy Story 3" proved that sequels can be even better than the original, and this time around Michael Caine joins the cast as a debonair British spy car. Not to mention Michael Keaton is also on board, as are returning cast members Owen Wilson and Larry the Cable Guy. Which leaves us with just one question: Why haven't we just gone ahead and elected Pixar president already? If anyone could straighten out this crazy world, it's those guys. | Watch the trailer 

'Larry Crowne'

Starring: Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston
The Scoop: Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are pretty much the dream team of American film royalty, which is why it was so surprising when their first film together, "Charlie Wilson's War," turned into a box office dud despite critical acclaim. So will audiences be more interested in "Larry Crowne's" less political story (co-written by Hanks and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" star Nia Vardalos) about an unemployed, middle-aged guy (Hanks) who returns to college only to find unexpected romance with his professor (Roberts)? Well, you know what they say: Second time's the charm. 

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'

Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Tyrese Gibson
The Scoop: "Transformers 2" was one of the highest grossing films of all time, but it wasn't exactly popular with everyone; even the movie's own stars took turns bashing it in the media. As a result, super-hot film accessory Megan Fox was sent packing, replaced by supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, while director Michael Bay unveiled a sleek new trailer for "Dark of the Moon" that promises to add new depth to the tale of a bunch of alien robots beating everything they see into a pulp. We know it's going to be one of the biggest films of the year, but could it also be one of the best? Now that would truly be an epic transformation.

The Scoop: We're pretty sure you're familiar with this one, but just in case, here's a rundown: After a decade worth of films and over 15 years of worldwide hype, excitement and fan frenzy, Pottermania finally comes to its climax when "Deathly Hallows Part 2" arrives this summer. Chances are you've probably already read the book, but the fun here is seeing how Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint bring those pages to life as they conclude a journey that they have been on for over half of their own lives. Bring your Kleenex, because this is going to be an emotional ending for everyone. 

'Winnie the Pooh'

The Scoop: America's favorite fat little bear returns more than 30 years after his last feature film and this time he's got one thing on his mind: hunny. OK, so things haven't changed a whole lot in the world of "Winnie the Pooh," but really, why would we want them to? One of the final Disney films to be animated using traditional techniques rather than computers, "Pooh" is a collection of shorts, just as the 1977 hit "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" was. Like Winnie the Pooh himself, some things are just timeless.

'Captain America: The First Avenger'

Starring: Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Samuel L. Jackson
The Scoop: The Sentinel of Liberty makes his long-awaited film debut (we're going to pretend that low-budget joke from the '80s never happened) as "Captain America: The First Avenger" brings Marvel's star-spangled superhero to life. And coming just two months after the studio's other big release of the year, "Thor," "Captain America" has a lot riding on the line -- not the least of which is the future of 2012's "The Avengers," which is not-so-subtly teased in this one's title. Will audiences buy Chris Evans as yet another superhero (following "The Fantastic Four," "The Losers," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," hell, he was even in "TMNT")? 'Friends With Benefits'

Starring: Mila Kunis, Justin Timberlake, Patricia Clarkson
The Scoop: "Black Swan's" Mila Kunis stars opposite JT in a film about two friends who start having casual sex with each other -- and then things stop being quite so casual. If this sounds familiar, it might be because "Black Swan's" Natalie Portman is also starring in a movie (opposite Ashton Kutcher) this year (called "No Strings Attached") about two friends with the same exact dilemma. So how can you tell them apart? Well, January's "No Strings Attached" didn't make our cut for the 50 films to be included on this list and July's "Friends With Benefits" did, so that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the potential of the two movies. 'Cowboys and Aliens'

Starring: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde
The Scoop: The premise is so simple and elegant you likely did a massive facepalm as soon as you heard the title. "Cowboys and Aliens." Why the hell hasn't anyone come up with this before? In fact, it's so genius we really don't even need to tell you what the movie is about because, honestly, it's "Cowboys and Aliens." So here's what we can add to the conversation: "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau is behind the camera and international superstars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford are in front of it. 'The Smurfs'

Starring: Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry, Sofia Vergara
The Scoop: You know what this world desperately needs? A live action movie about The Smurfs. And that's just what the world is going to get come August, to which we say, it's about time. OK, so not all of it is live action; the smurfs themselves are, of course, animated. They're also being voiced by a who's who of talent including Katy Perry, Fred Armisen and the legendary Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf. Add in Hank Azaria as the ultimate embodiment of evil, Sauron Gargamel, and there's just one thing left to say: "The Smurfs" is going to be smurfing smurfy. | Watch the trailer 

'The Help'

Starring: Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer
The Scoop: Fans getting worn out by the non-stop parade of high-octane blockbusters and 3-D summer tentpoles finally have another option in August when "The Help" arrives. Based on the popular period novel by Kathryn Stockett, "The Help" stars the always-awesome Emma Stone as a young girl learning the strange realities of adulthood in the Deep South of the early 1960s. She's joined by a terrific ensemble cast that includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Cicely Tyson. Don't be surprised if you hear more about "The Help" when award season rolls around. 

'Fright Night'

Release Date: Aug. 19
Starring: Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse
The Scoop: We could not possibly be more stoked for this remake of the 1984 vampire cult classic "Fright Night." Sure, we don't normally get all gooey over remakes -- the originals are usually classics for a reason, you know -- but this time we're making a major exception thanks to the totally rad cast. Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek," "Terminator Salvation") plays a horror buff who, realizing that his neighbor (Colin Farrell!) is a vampire, turns to his friend (Christopher Mintz-Plasse!) and a vampire expert (David Tennant!!!) for help. This a cast we can really sink our teeth into. 

'Moneyball'

Release Date: September 23
Starring: Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Philip Seymour Hoffman
The Scoop: Fans of baseball are already well familiar with the term "moneyball," but for the rest of the world, here's the scoop: Coined for the book of the same name by author Michael Lewis, "moneyball" refers to a specific style of baseball management that favors a statistical approach to organizing a team, which in turn allows small market franchises to compete with bigger spenders. Sounds f**king boring, right? Well, here's what's not boring: Brad Pitt, Robin Wright, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jonah Hill. Oh, and it's being directed by Bennett Miller, the guy who did the critically acclaimed "Capote." With a cast like that, even baseball might be fun to watch on the screen for once. 

'Abduction'

Release Date: Sept. 23
Starring: Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins, Alfred Molina
The Scoop: This is the moment all Twi-Hards have been waiting for: Taylor Lautner's first real attempt at carrying a movie as leading man. Or, man-child. Whatever you want to call it. Ever since Lautner bulked up for "New Moon," he's been dubbed the next big thing by everyone in Hollywood, already commanding huge paydays for his films even though so far his main success has been in the cocoon of the "Twilight" franchise. In "Abduction," though, the whole thing is on his well-toned shoulders as Lautner plays a kid whose life takes a surreal turn when he sees his own face on a missing persons website. We think by the time "Abduction' is over, Lautner will have found at least one thing: an A-list career. 

'Now'

Release Date: Sept. 30
Starring: Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, Justin Timberlake, Alex Pettyfer, Amanda Seyfried
The Scoop: Olivia Wilde, Justin Timberlake, Alex Pettyfer -- this movie's cast pretty much reads like a who's who of the hottest young stars in 2011, as each of those big names has multiple big movies coming out this year. The biggest, though, may be "Now," a near-future sci-fi epic where immortality has been attained, but only if you're rich enough to afford it -- and where time, therefore, really is money. When a scruffy dude (Timberlake) comes into a fortune in time/money, though, he ends up on the run from evil a-holes (like Cillian Murphy) looking to poach his future. A future that looks increasingly bright for this amazing cast.

'Real Steel'

Release Date: Oct. 7
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand
The Scoop: And then this happened: Hugh Jackman decided to film a movie about robot boxers. Well, why not. After all, when you're Wolverine, you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want, which includes this: "Real Steel" tells the story of a near-future world where boxers have been replaced by robots, who square off in the ring with a savagery their human controllers can't hope to match. It's like "Raging Bull" meets "The Go-Bots." The real reason to tune in, though, may be co-star Kevin Durand, as the menacing character actor gets a chance to renew his battles with both Jackman (he played the Blob in "Wolverine') and Evangeline Lilly (who faced off against Durand on the cult TV hit "Lost"). Either way, this promises to be a rock 'em, sock 'em flick. | Watch the trailer 

'Footloose'

Release Date: Oct. 14
Starring: Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid
The Scoop: If you like your remakes on the inspiring side, then "Footloose" is the film for you this Oct. 14, as Hollywood attempts to recapture the magic that made the original one of the feel-good hits of the '80s. Kenny Wormald steps into Kevin Bacon's dancing shoes as a kid who moves to a Midwestern town only to discover that the people there are really, really uptight about dancing. Luckily, his infectious spirit energizes everyone and overcomes all odds because, really, who can resist the universal language of dance? Certainly not us; We're already preparing to cut loose. 

'The Thing'

Release Date: Oct. 14
Starring: Joel Edgerton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen
The Scoop: If you like your remakes on the scary side, then "The Thing" is the film for you this Oct. 14, as Hollywood attempts to recapture the terror that made the original one of the most terrifying hits of the 1980s. But these guys are actually doing something pretty smart; aware that fans consider John Carpenter's 1982 version of "The Thing" to be pretty much untouchable, the new edition is less of a remake and more of a prequel, detailing the events that led up to the arctic terror of original. And the fact that it stars "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World's" totally awesome scene-stealer Mary Elizabeth Winstead is just icing on the cake. No pun intended. 

'Paranormal Activity 3'

Release Date: Oct. 21
Starring: Katie Featherston
The Scoop: The first one was scary. The second one was really dang scary. And the third one? Well, "Paranormal Activity 3" is so scary, the studio doesn't even want you to know what it's about yet, because you might drop dead of terror before you have the chance to pony up the bucks to see it in the theater. Despite the secrecy surrounding "Part 3," though, we can tell you one thing for sure: The film may have a bigger budget, but like its predecessors, it's still going to stick close to the found footage, pseudo-realism that made the first two such a big hit -- and have now made "Paranormal Activity" an annual event. And that's not so scary after all. 

'Puss in Boots'

Starring: Antonio Banderas, Zach Galifianakis, Salma Hayek
The Scoop: Just when you were afraid that "Shrek" was finally over forever after, you know, "Shrek Forever After," here comes the first spin-off: "Puss in Boots," which focuses on the swashbuckling feline voiced by Antonio Banderas. The rest of the usual gang is nowhere to be seen this time around, but don't worry, because a couple new additions are sure to spice things up: megastar comedian Zach Galifianakis and frequent Banderas collaborator Salma Hayek. Is another animation franchise about to be born? We sure hope so. After all, we still have room for some more collectible McDonalds character glasses in our cupboard. 

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1'

Release Date: Nov. 18
Starring: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner
The Scoop: The gang is back for the penultimate entry in the most popular movie series of all time (at least according to its fans). Team Jacob and Team Edward may have had their issues in the past, but now everyone is on the same side: Team Baby, as the whole world decides to gang up on Bella and Edward's newborn and only the combined powers of vampires and love can save her. What happens next? Well, no doubt you already know from reading the novel by Stephenie Meyer a dozen times, but that's fine; the magic is in seeing how they pull it off onscreen. And bonus points this time if they manage to film the birth scene without causing us to pass out. Eleven months and counting… 

'The Muppets'

Release Date: Nov. 23
Starring: Amy Adams, Jason Segel, Emily Blunt
The Scoop: Jason Segel aims to restore the Muppets to their rightful place in pop culture with their first big-budget, big-screen appearance in years, "The Muppets." The fresh premise: Segel plays a normal guy whose roommate happens to be, well, a muppet. When Walter (that's the mupet's name) happens to catch "The Muppet Show" one day, he realizes there are others like him out there and sets off on a quest to find his felt kinfolk. Rumor has it that everyone from Lady Gaga and Billy Crystal to Donald Glover and Jean-Claude Van Damme will cameo, which is no surprise -- after all, despite their absence, deep down everyone still love "The Muppets." 

'Hugo Cabret'

Release Date: Dec. 9
Starring: Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley, Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen
The Scoop: Martin Scorsese makes the leap into 3-D with this unusual adventure film starring the mostly unknown Asa Butterfield ("The Boy in the Striped Pajamas," for those of you who were forced to watch that in history class) as an orphan who lives in a train station and discovers a magical world as a result -- though not, as you might expect, via Platform 9 and 3/4. Based on the award-winning novel by Brian Selznick, "Hugo Cabret" is sure to please kids from 9 to 90 -- and that's just the cast, which ranges from the youth of Chloe Moretz to the decided non-youth of the legendary Christopher Lee. And hey, anything from Scorsese is worth a look. 

'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'

Release Date: Dec. 16
Starring: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg
The Scoop: Since earning a Best Actor nomination for his role in 'The Hurt Locker," Jeremy Renner has quickly become the go-to actor for anyone looking to add some intensity and grit to their film -- see "The Town" and 2012's "The Avengers" for exhibits A and B. Now he's tasked with his most difficult assignment yet: convincing weary audiences that they should take Tom Cruise seriously again. We think "M:I 4" has a good chance of doing just that, though, because besides Renner, the franchise has another secret working in its favor: the last film, "M:I:3," was actually really good. We think that if fans come for the Renner, they'll stay for the Cruise -- and maybe be surprised at how cool the experience actually is. 

'Sherlock Holmes 2'

Starring: Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Noomi Rapace
The Scoop: What's one of the most hotly anticipated film of the holiday season? Why, the answer is elementary, my dear Watson: It's "Sherlock Holmes 2," which reunites Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law as the legendary 19th century detective team. We're totally jazzed to see what Jared Harris (Lane Pryce on "Mad Men"!) does as Sherlock's evil arch-nemesis Professor Moriarty, and we're equally stoked to see Stephen Fry as Sherlock's weird brother Mycroft. So are we going to be first in line to see "Sherlock Holmes 2?' You don't need to be a detective to figure out that one. 

'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'

Release Date: Dec. 21
Starring: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgard
The Scoop: It's only the first volume of the most popular series of books (for adults) in the entire world, so it's little wonder that Steig Larsson's "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is being made into a big-budget Hollywood epic just a couple short years after it was already turned into a big-budget Swedish epic. No, what's surprising is the cast they've assembled: the always intense Daniel Craig takes on the role of journalist Mikael Blomkvist, while the almost unknown Rooney Mara ("The Social Network") steps into the instantly iconic shoes of goth hacker Lisbeth Salander. It's a big gamble, but we wouldn't have it any other way; after all, the film, like the novel, needs to be dangerous. Consider that requirement fulfilled. 

'The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn'

Release Date: December 28
Starring: Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig
The Scoop: The graphic novels of Belgian children's author Hergé and his lead character Tintin have been beloved around the world for generations -- and have also been defying Hollywood attempts to adapt them for just as long. Enter the unbeatable heavyweight team of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, who have whipped up a motion-capture digital CGI 3-D version that is sure to blow your face clean off. And there's a whole heck of a lot more where this came from; if "Secret of the Unicorn" proves to be a hit, Spielberg and Jackson have a whopping 24 books to pick from for the sequels -- which they are already planning. It looks like the adventure is just beginning for all of us. 

'War Horse'

Release Date: Dec. 28
Starring: Jeremy Irvine, David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston
The Scoop: Horses. There's just something about them that gets boys and girls of all ages all gooey inside, which helps explain why there have been so darn many good horse movies over the years -- from "Black Beauty" and "Black Stallion" to "Seabiscuit" and "National Velvet." Now you can add "War Horse" to that esteemed list, but you might want to grab a box of tissues before you even read the premise: When Joey the horse is shipped off to the front lines during World War I, young Albert (Jeremy Irvine) follows him into the trenches to try and save his beloved best friend. And did we mention that Steven Spielberg directed it? It's a good thing computer screens are resistant to tears, otherwise this page would be too smudged for you to read.
