The year 2012, or, as we like to call it, the beard 2012, is drawing to a close. Awards nominations are being handed out left and right, top 10 lists being written and superlative statements being made all around. It felt only right that we here at NextMovie draw up our own list, one honoring the best examples what we feel was 2012's most ubiquitous accessory: facial hair.
So here, it is, our salute to the greatest flavor savers, 'staches, soul patches and beards that graced the screen this year, broken down by month.
Liam Neeson in "The Grey"
We're not sure whether the beard makes the eyes or vice versa, but can we just say that we shiver in awe of their combined effect? Neeson's character in the film may have a way with killing wolves, but we're only human — and we are slayed. Get More »
As the 2012 presidential election quickly approaches (tomorrow! eek!), Americans must carefully analyze each candidate's policies and personalities to determine who they want to lead the country for the next four years.
And then there's the funnier — but not any less absurd — election at the center of "The Campaign," a new political satire pitting Will Ferrell's charismatic, gaffe-prone incumbent against Zach Galifianakis's Washington outsider in a North Carolina congressional race.
We're not sure we'd vote for either of these guys in real life, but you know who we would vote for? Yoda. And The Dude. And after "The Avengers," Hulk would most definitely get our endorsement.
This week: Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis play two North Carolina congressional candidates engaged in a hilariously contentious race for votes in "The Campaign," which arrives on disc just before we cast our vote for the next President.
Also new this week is the acclaimed indie film "Safety Not Guaranteed," a Criterion Collection edition of "Rosemary's Baby" and the must-own massive Blu-ray set "Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection." Get More »

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis are about to enter a knock-down, drag-out mudslinging dogfight as they tour the good state of North Carolina during "The Campaign."
The two comedians, both at the top of their game, play rival politicians Cam Brady and Marty Huggins, pulling every dirty trick in the book (and some not in the book) to win a seat in the House of Representatives. Jay Roach of "Austin Powers" and "Meet the Parents" fame directs this uproarious satire that couldn't be more relevant in this election year. Get More »
Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis appeared on MTV's After Hours With Josh Horowitz to debate some important issues, like whether or not to dress pets in human clothing and foot massages versus back massages. But it was a truly heated topic that surprisingly got "The Campaign" stars to agree on a position: Who is the hotter Hemsworth?
They're practically the same age, with names so similar they give dyslexics seizures, and both have played love interests of Julia Roberts. But Dermot Mulroney and Dylan McDermott are not the same person. We swear.
The two actors have both had steady careers, with Mulroney sticking mostly to character roles on the big screen ("Zodiac," "J. Edgar") while McDermott found fame on the boob tube starring in hit shows like "The Practice," "Dark Blue" and Ryan Murphy's current FX series "American Horror Story." Get More »
In their new movie "The Campaign," Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis play congressional candidates Cam Brady and Marty Huggins, respectively, facing off in a heated and hilarious election. Like all political candidates, Brady and Huggins duke it out in a debate.
"What? No no no no no my breathing is ragged."
As the cast of "Snow White and the Huntsman" proved a couple of months ago, reading passages from E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" can be a difficult and dubious endeavor. It's hard (ha!) to get the subtle nuances of James' prose just right, and a slightly askew inflection could render one of the hottest things ever written into slapstick comedy. Get More »
As we get closer to November, the 2012 presidential campaigns are sure to become even more entertaining than they are now, with all the conflict, drama and heartbreak of a movie.
It's only fitting that the political process get the Hollywood treatment just in time for Election Day in "The Campaign," in theaters Aug. 10 starring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis.
