GALLERY: Chris Hemsworth - Soldier, Huntsman and Superhero

Chris Hemsworth worked the rugged look in every possible way this year: outdoors guy, Norse god, huntsman and, now, homemade soldier. His rippling muscles and blue eyes alone prove there's something in the Aussie water.

This week he's trading in his mighty "Thor" hammer for an assault rifle in "Red Dawn," keeping America safe from invading communist forces.

Sure, Chris' younger brother Liam enjoyed some time in the spotlight this year with '"The Hunger Games," but between "Snow White and the Huntsman," "The Cabin in the Woods," "The Avengers" and now "Red Dawn," the elder Hemsworth is the only one we want to cuddle with out in the wilderness.

See for yourself with Chris' Hot People Looking Hot gallery. Trust us, you'll forget all about the threat of the North Korean army after going through these pics.

If you heard the distant booming of cannons over the weekend, don't worry, that's just Hollywood announcing that another batch of box office challengers has been eliminated by the unstoppable force known as "The Hunger Games."

Yes, according to Hollywood.com, "The Hunger Games" has won the box office title for the fourth weekend in a row, earning $21.5 million to bring its total to a whopping $337 million. The last film to top the box office four weekends in a row was "Avatar," which took the top spot seven times.

Is 2012 the Year of the Hemsworth?

Getty Images

Australian megahunk movie stars aren't exactly a new thing at the multiplex. The land of koalas and Marmite has been steadily infiltrating our big screens since Mad Max growled about seeing a vehicle that could haul that tanker. We've enjoyed them all as they've come by: Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, Heath Ledger ... and now, Chris and Liam Hemsworth.

And boy, do those two have a year ahead of them. Forget Mayan predictions and the apocalypse. 2012 promises to be the year of the Hemsworth. (We haven't ruled out that they might factor into the end of the world. Two handsome Aussie actors in one genetic strain? How is that possible?) Get More »

'The Cabin in the Woods' Trailer Features Evil Dead, Too

Lionsgate

Sam Raimi has been hard at work putting together the pieces for his long-awaited "Evil Dead" remake, but he might want to think twice, because if the new trailer for "The Cabin in the Woods" is any indication, it looks like Joss Whedon has already done his work for him.

And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Produced by Whedon and featuring a script he co-wrote with "Cloverfield" writer Drew Goddard (who also directs), "The Cabin in the Woods" makes no secret about he debt it owes Raimi's 1981 cult classic "The Evil Dead." In fact, for the first half of the trailer, "The Cabin in the Woods" seems like a faithfully spooky remake of "The Evil Dead," with "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth stepping into Bruce Campbell's iconic shoes as the lead character.
