So the next great Hollywood bromance is … Harry Osborn and Electro?
"Chronicle" star Dane DeHaan stopped by MTV Livestream to chat about his exciting new role in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and shed some light on something that his co-star Jamie Foxx has been saying a lot lately, at least to MTV's Josh Horowitz: "Dane DeHaan. Watch out for that guy," with the greatest sense of admiration and respect.
"He really likes me," laughs DeHaan. "We just had a lot of fun together, he just took a big liking to me our first day on set together, and I'm very flattered. I think he's amazing, too. Watch out for that Jamie Foxx!"
Watch DeHaan talk more about his his new BFF and his exhausting "Spider-Man" audition process in the MTV Livestream video above.
Comic-Con starts today in San Diego and for millions of fans around the world, that means one thing: sneak previews of all the coolest films of the next year. For people actually attending the convention, though, it can be difficult to choose which event to attend what with so many movies being hyped at once.
True, there are a few more zeroes you could add to that figure when it comes to geek-worthy stuff at the San Diego Comic-Con, but how in the heck could any human being manage to experience it all over the course of only four days? Get More »
In today's installment of Hugh Jackman keepin' it real, the "Wolverine" star thinks it's high time the current big three among superhero studios — that'd be Warner Bros., Sony Pictures and 20th Century Fox — pass around some kinda olive branch and make nice so that he can play with Iron Man and Spider-Man and all the other cool kids, too!
Yup, in a new sit-down with Collider to promote his latest turn as the adamantium-filled fighter, hitting theaters on July 26, Jackman laments all the mine-mine-mine stuff going down between the three comic-to-movie heavyweight champs of the industry right now ... especially since it means he can't flex his "X-Men" claws alongside the likes of "Iron Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man." "Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a gay man can..."
Why can't Peter Parker be gay or bisexual? That's what Andrew Garfield wants to know. In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2" star revealed that he's half-seriously/half-jokingly pressured producers to make "M.J." a dude.
"Why can't we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality?" he says he told producer Matt Tolmach. "It's hardly even groundbreaking!... So why can't he be gay? Why can't he be into boys?" Get More »
Mary Jane Watson may have played a central role in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy, but she won't show-up in the rebooted version until 2016.
Yes, there were set photos of "The Descendants" star Shailene Woodley floating around from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," but those scenes have either been axed or will be saved for the third movie, "Superman: The Movie"/"Back to the Future"/"Kill Bill"/"The Lord of the Rings" style.
According to a new interview in Entertainment Weekly (which we became hip to thanks to Superhero Hype), Woodley understandably isn't super stoked about the news, but she gets the reasoning behind it. Get More »
We don't call this site NextMovie for nothing. We've got news on release dates for two more sequels to "The Amazing Spider-Man."
Sony Pictures is smartly making sure those Spidey rights don't default and slip back to Marvel anytime soon (a la "Daredevil" and sorta with "Ghost Rider," for example). They've got release dates on the schedule for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," of course, plus a second sequel and another one beyond that, running all the way into 2018. Get More »
With the veritable onslaught newbies caught in the web for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" — including Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino as well as Dane DeHaan as Harry Osbourne, Chris Cooper as his papa Norman Osbourne, Shailene Woodley as Miss Mary Jane — it's kinda nice to see a familiar face or two, yeah?
Well, then, here's a guy comic book fans are bound to know.
New York City is currently being bombarded with all sorts of super-heroism, as the cast and crew from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" are in the Big Apple shooting the highly anticipated sequel. Anytime a big movie like this shoots in a city this stuffed with people, there are inevitably interesting encounters between pedestrians and big screen superheroes and villains (like when Jamie Foxx strolled through Times Square in his lightning-blue Electro make-up). And while amateur paparazzi have been capturing moments of impromptu Spider-mania throughout the shoot, nothing has come close to being as heartwarmingly adorable as the footage of Andrew Garfield, dressed head-to-toe in his Spider-Man ensemble, playing a pick-up game of basketball with two little kids. "Iron Man 3" and "Man of Steel" might be the superhero names on everyone's lips this summer, but next summer it's going to be a very different scene thanks to "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." But why wait when you can get your first look at the sinister Rhino right now thanks to director Marc Webb himself?
Yes, Webb has just tweeted out the first photo of Paul Giamatti in character as the deadly Aleksei Sytsevich. And he looks... well, pretty pissed off.
Of course, he also doesn't look much like a rhino, as he's not wearing his patented Rhino suit. So will he actually be suiting up in the movie? It's hard to guess. After all, comic fans were already surprised to see that Jamie Foxx's Electro looks more like a member of Blue Man Group than the traditional Marvel Comics supervillain.
So whatever. One thing is sure, though: Giamatti definitely doesn't need a costume to look scary. Save us, Spider-Man!
