Um, has Kelsey Grammer convinced everybody he's some kind of action star now or something? Seriously, did we miss that memo, Hollywood?
'Cause according to Deadline, he's now joined the cast of "The Expendables 3," a shoot-'em-up-bang-banger purposefully stuffed with pretty much all the muscular man meat — or, as the first installment coined to it, "the only men you're allowed to love" — the genre has had to offer over the past four decades. Both Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone got early career praise for their turns as big screen pugilists. De Niro nabbed his second Oscar win for portraying the complicated and oft vicious Jake La Motta in the now-classic Martin Scorsese film "Raging Bull" and Sly, well, he's still pumping out those "Rocky" movies, the first one of which earned him his only two Academy noms way back in '77.
Hurry and check the weather report to see if there are pigs flying about today because this is one movie matching you might never ever have expected to see otherwise.
In "Homefront," the first trailer for which has dropped today at Yahoo! Movies, Jason Statham (a.k.a. the dude who does not shift from his butt-kicking on-screen persona ... ever) stars as a former DEA agent who tries to make cozy new digs for himself and his kid in Nowheresville, USA but quickly finds himself smack dab in the middle of a seedy meth ring run by James Franco l'artiste.
To repeat: that's Jason Statham and James Franco together. In a movie. Just wait, it gets better (read: so much worse).
Ah, Hollywood people problems. As you probably know, film investors rarely have a household name outside of the biz the way that the stars and most esteemed directors do, but it's their stacks of cash that make the production world go 'round. Actors are replaceable, and — as we saw with the wild west that was the set of "Jane Got a Gun" — even directors come and go. But the money people, they are the clutch and if they pull the plug, well, it's quittin' time for everybody.
But "Reach Me" director John Herzfeld, with the help of his long-time pal and central star Sylvester Stallone, aims to finish what he started on this passion project and raise the funds needed to make up for what a runaway investor has lost them by way of a Kickstarter campaign. Get More »
Do we smell a comeback? We're all for being optimistic… but let's give it the ol' wait and see.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Mel Gibson has signed on to "The Expendables 3", the third installment of Sylvester Stallone's explosion-filled, testosterone-heavy action series. Gibson will play the film's resident bad guy, confirming previous rumors that the actor/director was in talks for the franchise. He will join an impressive collection of action stars, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Milla Jovovich and Jackie Chan. Get More »
Bruce Willis thinks a whole lot of himself, ya'll. Like...a mill-plus per day a lot.
Not only did he positively humiliate that poor U.K. interviewer during "Red 2" promos just for meanie sport, but now even more gory details regarding his sudden replacement for "The Expendables 3" by Harrison Ford (not to mention those way harsh public comments from Sylvester Stallone) have come to light. A seventh installment to that long-lived bruiser "Rocky" franchise is happening, people, but before you start groaning, you should know that this time Mr. Balboa won't be throwing himself into the ring again ('cause, yah, that would just be absurd. Enough already). Instead, he'll be rustling up the old gloves to train none other than Apollo Creed's grandson.
And, yo, Adrian, we kinda like that idea. Get More »
