Also new this week is the action-horror flick "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" with Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, "Snitch" with Dwayne Johnson and the 40th Anniversary Ultimate Collector's Edition Blu-ray of Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon." Get More »
One used to take us for a wild ride down Know Your Role Boulevard and Jabroni Drive before he checked us in at the Smackdown Hotel. The other is cast in Susan Sarandon movies.
One had his own theme music that strangers sang along to as he entered various American arenas. The other pretends to race cars with Vin Diesel.
One frequently knocked out his scantily-clad colleagues by landing on them with his elbow. The other has probably never done that ... at least not in any kind of official capacity. Get More »
Movie fans stayed home in droves this weekend and the result was a surprise win for the Melissa McCarthy comedy "Identity Thief," which according to Film.com returned to the top of the box office in its third week of release with an estimated total of $14.1 million.
That was enough to hold off the disappointing new Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson action flick "Snitch," which debuted in second place with only $13 million. Looks like someone won't be doing the pec pop of love this week.
Still, "Snitch" did significantly better than fellow new release "Dark Skies," as the Keri Russell horror film brought in just $8.9 million for a sixth place debut. For the rest of the box office top ten, including numbers for last week's champ "A Good Day to Die Hard," head to Film.com.
The last time you saw Jon Bernthal, he was probably hunting a zombie. In the new movie "Snitch," however, the "The Walking Dead" star is hunting for justice alongside Dwayne Johnson (known to most as The Rock). Johnson portrays a man who won't stop at any means to free his son, unjustly imprisoned on drug charges, and Bernthal is one of the many he meets along the way.
NextMovie caught up with Bernthal ahead of "Snitch"'s release to ask a few questions about breaking promises, being intimidated by The Rock and which action movie heroes would win in a fight. Get More »
"I know we are at war with each other. How could you not be in this crazy, upside-down world? A world where on one corner you can get gourmet coffee, and in an apartment right above that someone's being raped for the last thirty years. How do you reconcile that? Unless the coffee is horrible …" –Eddie Pepitone
Greetings from the apocalypse! So, February … Is this almost over? Seriously, UNICEF needs to airdrop a good movies aid package on us pronto before our entertainment-emaciated minds starve to the point where a Dwayne Johnson flick actually seems like a good call. Speaking of which … Get More »
Barry Pepper stars as a DEA agent alongside Duane Johnson (better known to most as The Rock) in this weekend's action drama "Snitch." It's a role that gives Pepper the chance to show yet another level — of facial hair. In addition to versatility onscreen (Pepper has starred in "The 25th Hour," "True Grit," "Saving Private Ryan" and many others) Pepper has a pretty chameleonic beard.
NextMovie caught up with Pepper to talk "Snitch," what The Rock is really like and, of course, Pepper's facial hair. Get More »
He's walked tall, been cool and felt the need for speed in "Faster" and "Fast Five." Now, 2013 is truly the Year of the Rock, with the WWE Champion appearing in no less than five feature films.
We begin this week with the release of "Snitch," in which he plays the greatest dad in the world. Five weeks later, he'll be fighting for freedom in the "G.I. Joe" sequel (March 29), and four weeks after that he'll be robbing from the rich in Michael Bay's "Pain and Gain." (April 26). That's not all — four weeks after that, he'll be feeling that need for speed again with "Fast & Furious 6" (May 24). You'd think he'd take a vacation after all that, but no, he'll also be investigating an armored car heist in "Empire State," which will probably hit theaters this fall.
Let's get the Year started with hotness, shall we?
Your mother always told you that math would be important someday, and we're here to validate her. Call it better living through arithmetic, but we believe simple math can help you decide which new movies coming out in February are for you.
Oh, and did we mention there are no actual numbers involved? It's like "Moneyball," but for movie-loving dummies.
So if you'd like a glimpse at what the cinema can offer you on this most romantic of months, read on for your latest lesson in Movie Math. Get More »
If you're ever thrown in the slammer for a drug deal you had nothing to do with, you'd better hope your dad is The Rock.
Dwayne Johnson (who's apparently now old enough to have a teenage son, which kind of freaks us out) stars as a construction worker who volunteers to go undercover into the dangerous world of drug trafficking in order to reduce his son's prison sentence in "Snitch" (which obviously isn't the sequel to "Snatch," as you may have thought upon first hearing the title). Susan Sarandon has a soft spot for The Rock. Or not. Word on the street is that the iconic actress (who's fresh off shooting the Adam Sandler comedy "I Hate You, Dad") is in talks to join Dwayne Johnson in the cast of "Snitch."
The action thriller, which was penned by Ric Roman Waugh—who will also direct—follows a suburban father (Johnson) who is hit hard when his teenage son is sentenced to thirty years under mandatory minimum drug laws. Get More »
