'Grudge Match' Trailer: The Italian Stallion Vs. Raging Bull, 30 Some-Odd Years Later

Both Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone got early career praise for their turns as big screen pugilists. De Niro nabbed his second Oscar win for portraying the complicated and oft vicious Jake La Motta in the now-classic Martin Scorsese film "Raging Bull" and Sly, well, he's still pumping out those "Rocky" movies, the first one of which earned him his only two Academy noms way back in '77.

So, the story of "Grudge Match" bringing back the aged scamps for another round in the ring thirty-plus years after their heydays isn't too far off the mark, actually. Get More »

'Artemis Fowl' Adaptation Makes Unlikely Bedfellows of Disney and Weinstein

Miramax Miramax

Ever since "Harry Potter" made its big screen debut 12 years ago and started on its way to becoming the highest grossing films series of all time, every studio in Hollywood has been hard at work trying to find the next series of fantasy novels to adapt for the big screen. From "The Golden Compass" to "The Mortal Instruments" to "Percy Jackson and [Ridiculously Long Subtitle]," no stone has gone un-turned in the quest for the magic ticket to box office fortune.

But for Disney, it turns out the answer may have been right under their nose the whole time, as the studio is (in a surprising turn of Tinseltown events) teaming up with The Weinstein Company to adapt Disney Publishing's bestselling "Artemis Fowl" series. Get More »

Robert De Niro Mobs it Up in 'The Family' Trailer

When in doubt, Hollywood knows precisely what to do: Put Robert De Niro in a mobster movie and watch the master work. And pretty much any mob film will do, any role even. And, then, you know what? He'll make that piece look slick and fresh and hilarious and devastating 'cause that's what the Robert De Niro does.

Exhibit A: This first trailer for his Parisian — cue the snails and striped shirts and guttural grunts — mafioso endeavor, "The Family." Get More »

Hollywood's 13 Best Commencement Speeches

Getty Images Getty Images

Some of us just yawned and obsessed over the ticking of the clock during our far-too-long commencement speeches. Whatever maniac decided that so-and-so's wife's something or other who didn’t even graduate is equipped to send students off with a 30-minute diatribe on themselves is sorely mistaken. Just dole out the degrees already and call a day a day, right, kids? Unless ...

You know, every so often schools are able to wrangle in someone actually interesting to deliver a few notes of wisdom — some more often than others (cough Harvard cough). Even better, once in a while they're our very shiniest movie stars who make lots of funnies and deliver all the feels and suddenly the speeches don't seem so bad. Get More »

Supercut: Have a Happy Motherf***in' Mother's Day

This Sunday, moms across the world'll be celebrating their own momness (or is it momitude?) in varying degrees and fashions. Some will receive flowers; others will demand that those whiny, slothy teenage miscreants do their own ruddy laundry for crying out loud ... or something like that. Get More »

You'll Lurve this Alternate 'Silver Linings Playbook' Ending

David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" was a B.F.D. during this year's awards season, not just because it made Jennifer Lawrence a giant star — with meme fare to prove it — but also because it drew out all the feels.

With the eight-time Oscar-nominated flick poised to hit DVD next week, MTV now presents this exclusive glimpse at the film's alternate ending. In the new scene, the off-kilter little family unit's leader, Robert De Niro's obsessive Pat Sr., is having an outright conniption over the very presence of a Vikings shirt in his Eagles-only abode. The nerve of some people. Get More »

'American Bulls**t'? It's 'American Hustle' for Russell

Splash News Splash News

Director David O. Russell's much-fussed Abscam movie now has its title, and rather than the controversial (albeit arguably appropriate) original name "American Bulls**t," it's going to be called the much more palatable "American Hustle."

The new verbage is meant to reflect the story's true story-based premise — a con man and his mistress are teamed up with an FBI agent to run a sting operation on several corrupt politicians and criminals — but it also helps to remove the stigma of an expletive in neon lights turning away potential audiences. Oscar Nominees React to Being Un-Snubbed

Jennifer Lawrence Getty Images

Oscar might be the word of the day, but for some folks, their own names were what rung loudest and proudest during this morning's 2013 Academy Award nominations read-out. Sure, some of them were just as baffled by some of the snubs as the vociferous folks of the Twitterverse, but they couldn't complain too much because, hey, they just got a chance at the most elite prize in the biz.

So, in the day's spirit of actors and such talking about actors and such, we've gathered here the nominees' various reactions to this year's nods. You can probably read between the lines on a few of these.

Best Actresses

Jennifer Lawrence, "Silver Linings Playbook": "I'm so honored and grateful for this nomination and to be in the company of such talented actresses. Having the fortunate opportunity to work with David O. Russell was an extraordinary gift and I am so thrilled for my fellow cast members Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver who are all nothing short of amazing. This was a labor of love that we all poured our hearts into and could not be more thankful to The Weinstein Company and Harvey Weinstein for their unyielding support of the film" (ET Online).
