First Trailer for 'Nature Calls' Features Cursing and Crucifixion
There are red band trailers, and then there's the trailer for Todd Rohal's latest, "Nature Calls." Seeing as the R-rated comedy is about a group of—let's just say slightly immature—men who take a group of energetic (and yes, by energetic we do mean wild and hormonal) boy scouts on a camping trip, it's not all that surprising that the trailer is more than a little crass.
With Patton Oswalt, Johnny Knoxville, Rob Riggle and Patrice O'Neal in the cast line-up, this might be the dirtiest comedy of the year. While it runs just a hair over two-and-a-half minutes, we still lost count of the number of expletives and off-color references. Get More »
6 Reasons Why '21 Jump Street' Is the First Must-See Comedy of the Year
In Hollywood, the early months of the year are typically reserved for a few very specific varieties of films: awards-season darlings expanding their distribution, genre films looking to conquer the box office via counterprogramming, and comedies the studios hope will earn a quick buck before dying a quiet death.
But on March 16, Sony Pictures is releasing "21 Jump Street," Chris Miller and Phil Lord's big-screen update of the 1980s television series of the same name. And while in most cases a movie like this would probably fall into that third category, Lord and Miller have created an almost instant classic -- a comedy that manages to pay homage to its source material while standing alone as a terrific buddy cop movie.
Still skeptical? We understand. We've assembled six solid reasons it's 2012's first must-see comedy. Get More »
Mila Kunis Gets Sent to 'Hell & Back'
Mila Kunis has gone to the bargain bin with "Friends With Benefits," scary ballet school for "Black Swan," and back to a time when feathered hair was standard for "That '70s Show," but her latest role really sounds like hell.
Deadline reports that the actress will star opposite comedians Rob Riggle, Nick Swardson, Brian Posehn and Kumail Nanjiani in the animated film "Hell & Back."
The movie, which will be shot in stop-motion style, tells the story of two buddies who attempt to rescue a friend who mistakenly winds up in hell. Kunis will play Orpheus' half-human lady demon daughter, who knows a thing or two about getting by in the underworld. Get More »
'Daily Show' Star Rob Riggle Goes To 'Hell & Back'
We were excited to hear about Nick Swardson and T.J. Miller headlining "Hell & Back," the new feature-length piece of stop-motion insanity from ShadowMachine, the studio behind "Moral Orel" and "Robot Chicken."
Now, according to Variety, a trio of brilliant character actors are taking an adult swim to this animated ode to eternal damnation. Descending into the inferno are Rob Riggle, Brian Posehn and Kumail Nanjiani, all of whom are staples of the comedy world.
Riggle is a "Daily Show"/"SNL" vet who's made showy appearances in things like "Step Brothers," "The Other Guys" and, most famously, as the Taser-happy Las Vegas police officer in "The Hangover." He'll play "a 20-year old who's starting to grow up, much to the chagrin of his friends Augie and Remy." Get More »
Rob Riggle Shows Us His Flicks
Rob Riggle – the husky humorist who brings "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" the occasional much-needed jolt of pure testosterone – is only getting started in Hollywood.
But before three high-profile movie gigs over the next two years, Riggle is playing online host, curating Atom.com's AXE Dirtcathlon, a four-part web series that challenges its contestants to get as dirty as humanly possible in 90 seconds. Get More »
Billy Crystal and Helen Mirren Star in 'When Harry Met Sally' Sequel... Sorta
How do you improve on Rob Reiner's 1989 romantic comedy classic "When Harry Met Sally?" The same way you improve every other movie: add vampires and zombies.
So goes the thinking in Billy Crystal's hilarious, high-profile short film for Funny or Die. With Reiner and Crystal playing themselves, the duo pitches a sequel to Adam Scott -- playing a smarmy Hollywood d-bag as only he can -- that presupposes Sally's death and how Harry can find love again. The d-bags love it, with one minor (read: major) tweak. Enter Helen Mirren and her vampiric fangs. Get More »
