'Prisoners' Puts Box Office On Lockdown

Warner Bros. Warner Bros.

Hugh Jackman's new film "Prisoners" took no prisoners at the cineplex this weekend as the critically lauded drama took in $21.4 million to easily win the box office title according to

Not that there was much competition. Other than returning champ "Insidious: Chapter 2," which earned $14.5 million in its second weekend of release, no film managed to even crack $10 million. The weekend's only other major new release, "Battle of the Year," turned out to be one of the duds of the year, earning just $5 million in its debut.

Next weekend should be a different story thanks to major new releases "Rush," "Don Jon" and "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2." For now, though, head over to for this weekend's full box office top ten.
