After it lost not one, not two, but three directors in a row, the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's zany "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" seemed, well, dead.

But it was right there in the title the whole time, you see. "Zombies." Zombies don't die. And neither will this movie.

Lily Collins, who'll soon be seen slaying other things that go bump in the night in "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," has now signed on to lead the pic. Get More »

'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' Scares Off Yet Another Director

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Is "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" cursed in real life? Sure seems that way, as yet another director has walked away from the project.

Craig Gillespie, the man behind hits like "Lars and the Real Girl" and "Fright Night," has just become the third—that's right, third—director to wash his hands of this screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel, which (in case you can't tell from the title) mixes the 1813 Jane Austen classic with a legion of bloodthirsty zombies.

Which is a pretty cool idea, if you ask us. (So far, no one has.) Get More »

Author Jane Austen knew a thing or two about gossip, which is why it's more than fitting that a new 21st century twist on one of her beloved works should star a gossip girl.

That's our roundabout way of telling you that Blake Lively, she of the traveling pants shining in Green Lantern's light, may climb aboard "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."

According to Twitch, Lively is the latest in a long line of suitors for the lead role of Elizabeth Bennet in the troubled film version of Seth Grahame-Smith's genre mash-up. Get More »

UPDATE: Well, so much for that. Emma Stone has passed on playing the lead role in "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," according to Deadline.

No one seems to really want to make this movie! Actually, the book was a cute gimmicky amusement, at best... maybe it just needs to stay on the shelf?

We shall see...

Emma Stone may soon become quite the authority on the undead.

She'll get to wear period clothing this time around, too, as the "Zombieland" actress has been offered the lead role in "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Get More »

UPDATE: For real this time.

Lionsgate has confirmed Craig Gillespie to direct "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."

------------

Lionsgate has been having a hell of a time in locking down a director for "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies." You'd think a good majority of the filmmakers out there would be dying (or undying, ha!) for a crack at adapting Seth Grahame-Smith's novel that incorporates walking corpses into Jane Austen's classic tale of early 19th Century manners and morals. Mike White Drops Out Of 'Pride And Prejudice And Zombies'

Quirk Books

Now who will lead the zombie hordes?

"Pride And Prejudice And Zombies," something of a "troubled production" if there ever was one, has suffered yet another setback: it's lost its director, Mike White.

 Yes, that makes two.

White, the writer of such comedy hits as "Nacho Libre" and "School of Rock," was brought on board to direct "Pride" after David O. Russell dropped out. White would've been working with Russell's screenplay adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's novel. Get More »

Mike White Bringing 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' Back to Life

Quirk Books

Mike White has closed the deal to direct "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," the adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel that spices up the 1813 Jane Austen literary classic with a smattering of roaming, flesh-eating corpses and became an instant cult favorite.

White signed on after the departure of the originally pegged director David O. Russell—rumored to have left the project because of a scheduling conflict with his intended star, Natalie Portman.

Now that White is in place, casting should soon begin, starting with the beloved heroine Elizabeth Bennet and her dear, disdainful Mr. Darcy. Get More »
