With soccer moms now taking pole dancing aerobics at the Y, it’s safe to say that stripping (not to mention its costumed cousin, burlesque) has seduced mainstream America ... for better or worse.
However, for every relatively whimsical look at the profession ("The Full Monty," "Sin City"), there seems to be at least two darker examinations. In the case of "About Cherry," sometimes working in a strip club can lead to stripping (and doing other stuff) on a porn set. But then there's Jennifer Aniston in "We're the Millers" and ... well, that's just all sorts of hot n' hilarious. Get More »
The first teaser trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" gave us but a split second of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) getting a little visit from his boy wonder brother Thor (Chris Hemsworth), but today Marvel has unleashed the first full trailer for the second "Thor" installment, and it looks like the Asgardian Bros. will be enjoying quite a reunion indeed as they show down with an enemy which threatens to tear apart "the very fabric of reality." Um, yikes? Get More »
UPDATE: According to The Wrap, the three actresses in top contention for the leading female role are currently Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Emily Blunt. Basically three women with the perfect trifecta of talent, beauty and brains. Good stuff.
PREVIOUSLY: Ben Affleck might've dropped out of "Focus" to make sure he could helm his little "Live By Night" project in time to meet Warner Bros.' scheduling expectations, but the "Argo" director might just be getting a chance to put off his next behind-the-lens effort just long enough to star in David Fincher's adaptation of the wildly popular Gillian Flynn thriller novel "Gone Girl."
You've got to hand it to Natalie Portman, because the gal has some serious spunk. For the past umpteen months, Portman has been slogging away as both actor and producer, trying to get her western "Jane Got a Gun" made. And over and over, people kept royally effing up the production.
But now, once again, it appears that Portman has managed to get the train back on the tracks, as according to Deadline, her old "Star Wars" co-star Ewan McGregor has signed on to play the role of a sinister, no good outlaw.
All we can say is, the Force must be with her. At this point, she really needs it. Get More »
Natalie Portman seems to have everything. At 31 she's got a new hubby, a baby, an Oscar in her back pocket and the epic mega-blockbuster "Thor: The Dark World" coming out later this year. So things are pretty great.
Except for the fact that she can't seem to lasso in enough cowboys for the oh-so-troubled "Jane Got a Gun."
Natalie Portman knows "fair is foul and foul is fair," and she is now totally ready to give those celebrated acting chops a real Shakespearean stretch next.
Per Screen Daily, the Oscar-winning "Black Swan" star has just signed on to star in the Justin Kurzel-led adaptation of "Macbeth," the script for which has been super buzzy with Cannes Film Festival sales crowd. Get More »
[From MTV] With "Iron Man 3" a little more than a week away, Marvel has already given us a look at our next trip to the universe of superheroes and villains. The first teaser trailer for "Thor: The Dark World" premiered in the early hours of the morning, and even though the preview clocks in at just under two minutes, we can already see a much different adventure for the Norse god. Poor Natalie Portman. Doesn't anyone want to cowboy it up with her in "Jane Got a Gun"? Producers are hoping Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire or Jeff Bridges might, now that both Jude Law and Michael Fassbender have walked out on her.
Even the picture's director, Lynne Ramsay, has ditched. Okay, for serious, it probably has zilch-nil-squat to do with the fact that Natalie Portman stars, but something's gone seriously awry to make yet another vital piece of the production take off. Get More »
Practically every mega-star in Hollywood has gotten animated.
Tom Hanks was a toy. George Clooney was a fox. Eddie Murphy was an ass a donkey. And in the prehistoric adventure "The Croods," Emma Stone, Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds play a cavegirl, a caveman and a caveboy, respectively.
We wondered what these stars would look like as animated people rather than as, you know, animals and neanderthals and stuff. Thanks to these 17 portraits, we've replaced our wondering with works of art. Get More »
