Will Ferrell and Aubrey Plaza Getty Images

In this economy, filmmakers will do just about anything to boost ticket sales. And when they've already placed larger-than-life ads all over the world, what more can you do? Publicity, silly!

Since the dawn of time, movie folks have gone to great lengths to get people to know — and hopefully see — their latest projects. But it's no easy task. Now that film publicity is more common than ... well, movies themselves, the tactics have become crazier. Raunchier. Scarier. Really, just more of a giant, fabulous hot mess. -- By Christopher Rosa and Jacqueline Lem Get More »

Rebel Yell: Rebel Wilson's Raunchiest Movie Awards Jokes

If there's one thing we took away from Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards, it's that when Rebel Wilson is around, you would be best off putting earmuffs over young ears or shooing sensitive listeners away.

Wilson, who hosted last night's festivities, was in rare form, tossing off often raunchy one-liners left and right.

"You wanna give me an Australian kiss?" she asked a shocked Zac Efron while accepting the Best Breakthrough Performance Award. "It's like a French kiss but down under." Get More »

MTV Movie Awards: Seth Rogen on Aubrey Plaza's 'Kanye Moment'

Well, that was unexpected. It seems like Aubrey Plaza, star of TV's "Parks and Recreation" and the upcoming "The To-Do List" checked one very unique task off her list last night: Stage-bombing Will Ferrell in the middle of his acceptance speech for the Comedic Genius Award at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

Attendees were just as surprised by the unscripted moment as audience members and Ferrell himself.

"Did she Kanye him?!" Seth Rogen asked backstage when MTV News' Josh Horowitz asked him about the moment.  "Something unplanned happened at the MTV Movie Awards? That's a first." Get More »

Steve Carell Loves 'Anchorman 2' Almost As Much As He Loves Lamp

Great news, "Anchorman" fans: You're really gonna like "Anchorman: The Legend Continues."

MTV News' Josh Horowitz caught up with funnyman and "Anchorman" supporting cast member Steve Carell on the red carpet last night at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards and quizzed him about the upcoming flick. Carell, who's filming the follow-up right this very minute, delivered the good word.

"It's pretty good," Carell told Horowitz. "If you like the first 'Anchorman,' you will like or love this movie."

Sounds like the lols-to-ticket-cost ratio is going to come out highly in your favor, moviegoer!

"Man, it's funny," Carell said. "It's really funny."

Sounds like he loves it just about as much as he loves lamp.

"Anchorman: The Legend Continues" is due out in theaters on December 20.

True Life: Rebel Wilson and Jennifer Lawrence Are Twins

[From MTVWondering where Jennifer Lawrence was during Sunday night's MTV Movie Awards? We were too, and we wonder if her absence doesn't have something to do with a remarkable new clip from MTV's "True Life"featuring Lawrence's twin sister, Katherine.

OK, we're kidding. It's not really Lawrence's sister; it's Movie Awards host Rebel Wilson, goofing simultaneously on the Oscar-winning A-lister and MTV's long-running docuseries. The "True Life: My Sister's Famous" short, which is a bonus skit from the Movie Awards, focuses on Katherine's life in her superstar sibling's shadow. "No, I'm not jealous of her, not one bit," Wilson says through clenched teeth. Get More »

MTV Movie Awards: Aubrey Plaza Crashes the Stage

[From MTV NewsOn Sunday night (April 14), something inspired actress Aubrey Plaza to storm the stage while Will Ferrell was accepting his Comedic Genius Golden Popcorn at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

While the "Anchorman" star was making the A-listers in the room LOL with his speech, the "Parks and Recreation" star — with the name of her August film "The To Do List" scrolled across her chest — jumped onstage and tried to wrestle the statue out of his hand. While it seemed like it may have been a gag, MTV News can confirm that the moment was anything but planned. Get More »
