9 Movie Baseball Cards

With "42" opening this week, we here at NextMovie are reminded of how we used to collect packs of baseball cards and store them in shoeboxes. (People still do that, right?)

So here we proudly present our own line of movie baseball cards -- recreations of actual vintage card designs that highlight some of the baddest batters and hurlers from the big screen. Print 'em, trade 'em, put 'em on your wall. Bubblegum not included.

Brad Pitt Eating: The Mashup

Movie characters may seem more glamorous than you and me, but they've gotta eat. And you know who eats a lot in movies? Brad Pitt. And unlike the rest of us, even in comic moments, he looks good doing it (shocker).

Pitt did a fair amount of eating in his Oscar-nominated turn as Billy Beane in "Moneyball," but he chows down so much in so many movies, we're starting to wonder if the actor just gets hungry on set and brings his lunch into the scene with him. We're just waiting to see how much he ingests in "Killing Them Softly," out this week. Get More »

Jonah Hill's Oscar Party Continues On 'SNL'

NBC

When comedian Jonah Hill was nominated for an Academy Award earlier this year for his role in the baseball drama "Moneyball," just about everybody was surprised. But there's one person who believes the nomination shouldn't be a surprise to anybody: Hill himself.

Yes, Hill took to the stage last night as host of "Saturday Night Live" and delivered a hilarious monologue that featured no false humility — or, in fact, humility of any kind. Hey, what were you expecting from someone who refers to himself as "one of our finest actors?" Get More »

Have you ever pondered what every Oscar-nominated film would be like if it were performed by kindergarteners? Was that just us?

Newt Gingrich Dreams of Brad Pitt While Pitt Talks 'Moneyball' Oscar

Getty Images

If you're already dreaming of taking over the Oval Office, why not aim even higher? For Newt Gingrich, the sky's the limit.

The politico was asked on a radio show who he'd like to play him in a biopic, and the decidedly un-Brad Pitt-like Republican replied, "Oh, in my fantasy life? Brad Pitt ... why not?"

Why not, indeed. Gingrich told radio show host Rich Stevens, "No, I don't look like him at all … He's thinner, he's better looking, he's younger. But you asked me if I had anyone who could play me in a movie ... why not go for Brad Pitt?"

That's the spirit, Newt! Go big or go home. You might not have "The Eye of the Tiger," but you can always dream of being played by one of the sexiest men currently walking the earth. And that you'll have a biopic one day.

Pitt, on the other hand, has some political ideas of his own. Get More »

The 2012 Best Picture Nominees Recast With Dogs

The Yelp
NextMovie

It's a dog's world, and we're just living in it.

We had a lot of fun recasting favorite movies with cats, but obviously, we weren't about to ignore our canine friends. Because dogs are awesome. In fact, dog lovers are reveling in the cultural moment right now, what with adorable dog du jour Uggie stealing practically every scene in "The Artist."

So this week, with the help of Old Red Jalopy, NextMovie's gone to the dogs: We've recast all nine Academy Awards Best Picture nominees with dogs in the starring roles. We dare say, some of them look even more interesting than the originals.
