Our girl Wilson chatted it up with Buzzfeed this week about her upcoming turn as the 2013 MTV Movie Awards host and spilled the beans on her potential "Mockingjay" snare.

Branching off of the subject of a recent encounter with the indomitable Jennifer Lawrence, whom Wilson found to be "super duper nice" and surprisingly tall, she answered a question as to whether she'd like to star in the hit series with "I have had a meeting about being in 'The Hunger Games.' Yes."

Wisely, the interviewer pressed for more details, so Wilson added, "It was one of the people in the capitol. That's all I'll say ... there aren't a lot of roles open, because they've all already been cast, but that would be awesome. I'd love to be in 'The Hunger Games.'"

Sounds like she's up for the wacky role of Tigress to us; any other guesses?

It's worth nothing that Rebel Wilson has worked with "Hunger Games" star Elizabeth Banks on both "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "Pitch Perfect," so she's probably got a strong endorsement from the inside going for her. Not to mention, she's already got that "affected accent" the Capitol types boast.

Take that, "twig b**ches"! Juuuuuust kidding.

It looks like TV actor-turned-Emmy-winning screenwriter Danny Strong will be flexing his scripting muscles for the final two pictures in "The Hunger Games" franchise.

According to Variety, Strong has now been hired by Lionsgate to adapt the two-part conclusion based on Suzanne Collins' trilogy-ender "Mockingjay."

Danny Strong, who starred in various television shows over the last two decades including "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Gilmore Girls," recently nabbed two Primetime Emmy Awards for his book-to-screen adaptation of "Game Change" for HBO. Strong also co-wrote the screenplay for Lee Daniels' "The Butler," which is currently in production and was hired by Sony Pictures to develop the script for the last "The Da Vinci Code" chapter, "The Lost Symbol."

While Lionsgate reportedly would not comment on the news, if true, Strong would be the latest in a string of credited adapters of the "Hunger Games" quartet of films. For the first installment, Suzanne Collins, Billy Ray and Gary Ross all crafted the working script, while Simon Beaufoy tackled the adaptation for the first sequel, "Catching Fire."

"Mockingjay" will be released in two parts, with Part 1 debuting on Nov. 21, 2014, and Part 2 following along on Nov. 20, 2015. Rumor has it the studio is currently sniffing around for potential directors on the projects, with neither Gary Ross or Francis Lawrence expected to return.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is currently being filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, and will hit theaters on Nov. 22, 2013.

Lately there've been a ton of tasty news bites coming out of the world of "The Hunger Games." From "Catching Fire" pre-production to the cast scooping up some surfboards and "Mockingjay" being split into two, there's a lot to chew on here. So, grab a fork and get ready to eat it all up!

Ready to Catch Fire?

Production on "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" is nigh! Rumor has it, Atlanta's gonna be one of the filming hotspots this go-round, with shooting tentatively scheduled for Sept. 10, and word is, the filmmakers are also scouting out spots in Hawaii for the big arena sequences.

But enough about that. What's really been exciting is that casting news has been whizzing around as quickly as one of Katniss' arrows. This week, Lionsgate confirmed Jena Malone has been plucked for the sassy tribute role of Johanna Mason.

Oh, and at long last, we may finally have our Finnick Odair, citizens! "Snow White and the Huntsman" prince Sam Claflin is the rumored choice for the blonde tribute adonis, and while reactions have been split on that, a little hair dye might just do the trick.

Plus, Amanda Plummer'll be the certifiable Wiress, joining ranks with the inconquerable Phillip Seymour Hoffman who'll give life to the mysterious new head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee. Before we know it, the entire line-up for the Third Quarter Quell - also known as the 75th Annual Hunger Games - will be ready!

New Treats

In less than a month, we'll all be lining up at our local retailers before midnight, causing major eye-rollage for the uninitiated (if there is such a thing) store clerks who have to stay late, and just clamoring to get our paws on "The Hunger Games" on DVD. Sadly, there won't be any deleted scenes to gobble down, but there will be some sweet special features. Go ahead and clear some space on the shelf now! You may also want to make room for Katniss Barbie, who's coming along soon after.

Until then, though, the view of Panem's becoming a little bit clearer. Thanks to Facebook's "The Hunger Games Adventures" game, an official district by district map of Panem is finally taking shape! ID-ed so far are The Capitol, District 2, District 11, and the place we've all been in mind and spirit, District 12.

Directing 'Mockingjay'

Lionsgate's put a tight time crunch on itself now that it's scheduled the release for both "Mockingjay" installments with back-to-back Novembers in 2014 and 2015. Looks like they're planning to pull a "Twilight" and switch up the directors once again for films three and four — sorry, Francis Lawrence — and they're already sniffing around for potential candidates. No word yet on whether they'll film both finale installments at once or whether they'll be two properly separate films. Shoot, we don't even know where they'll split the things, though we do have a few suspicions.

What's Up With the Cast

As expected, several tributes from "The Hunger Games" made way to San Diego earlier this month for Comic-Con, but they kept it coy (much to our dismay) on the deets.

Sure, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted saving the day in late June, and our minds were blown by the first trailer for her newest flick "Silver Linings Playbook," but our gal's been keeping it low key so far this summer ... We're guessing she's probably not spending her off-time dreaming up that "Natural Born Killers" slash "Thelma and Louise" mash-up Lindsay Lohan randomly announced she wants to do with her.

And while we didn't spy him around SDCC in a Batman costume (shucks), Josh Hutcherson did make it out to this weekend's Teen Choice Awards to collect the cast's surfboard wins (including his own Choice Movie Actor: Sci-fi/Fantasy win along with Lawrence's Choice Movie Actress, their shared Choice Liplock prize, Choice Book for Suzanne Collins, Liam Hemsworth's Choice Movie Scene Stealer: Male and Alexander Ludwig's Choice Villain grab).

Speaking of awards, two "Hunger Games" stars have now been nominated for some Primetime Emmys! Elizabeth Banks — the one and only Effie Trinket — got a nom for her recurring guest role as Avery Jessup for NBC's "30 Rock." Meanwhile, Woody Harrelson is up for the lead actor in a mini-series prize for his work on HBO's "Game Change." This is Banks' second for the same show, and it's Harrelson's seventh Emmy nomination overall (albeit his first in more than a decade). As Effie might say, it's a "big, big, big" deal!

Books Still Making Bank

Suzanne Collins' "The Hunger Games" book trilogy was obviously successful long before the first film ever came into being, but the publishers have openly admitted to seeing an increase in sales thanks to the magic of movies. In fact, their latest calculations indicate that there are more than 50 million print and digital copies of the three books in U.S. circulation alone. "The World Will Be Watching," sure. But from that stat, it seems the world is definitely reading too.

There may only be a few things officially lined up for "The Hunger Games" at this year's Comic-Con event (we can probably — hopefully! — count on a proper "Catching Fire" cast and filmmaker panel next summer), but there's still some real potential for the annual shindig-o-geekery to make us feel like we're living right there in Victor's Village.

New Details, Please

Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen) — whose character will return for the sequels — will join her "Hunger Games" co-stars Alexander Ludwig (Cato), Amandla Stenberg (Rue), Jack Quaid (Marvel), Isabelle Fuhrman (Clove) and Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) for a special Lionsgate booth signing on Saturday, July 14.

With "Catching Fire" filming expected to begin next month, we're hoping Shields will shell out some need-to-knows about what's to come — like whether a Finnick Odair has been chosen or whether Jena Malone will indeed be Johanna Mason. We'd also love to hear her thoughts on new director Francis Lawrence's vision for "Catching Fire," whether Hawaii will serve as the filming hotspot for the arena sequences or not and where she thinks "Mockingjay" will be split in two.

And while the other tributes signing on Saturday might not be a part of the "Catching Fire" cast, they've probably got some untold stories from "The Hunger Games" set to share too, and we hope they'll give us all the goods.

That same day, costume illustrator Christian Cordella will be chatting up "The Hunger Games" at her Costume Designers and Illustrators: From Concept to Reality panel, so we're crossing our fingers that Cordella'll spill a little juice on what she has in store for the fashions in movie two.

Sneaky Appearances by the Cast

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth aren't technically slated to appear at Comic-Con, but all three are now living in Los Angeles and have independent reasons to hit up the event.

For one, Josh Hutcherson is a self-proclaimed "Batman" lover, and while "The Dark Knight Rises" — which is the movie he's most looking forward to this summer — might not be featured at Comic-Con this year, one can probably count on a little "Batman" cosplay action. We could totally see him celebrating with a little costumery himself! He could also pull a Kellan Lutz circa 2009 and don a disguise to sneak around the show here and there. Eagle-eyed as "Hunger Games" fans are, those at the Con will surely be on lookout for undercover tributes and snag a pic!

Liam Hemsworth, meanwhile, isn't on the roster for "The Expendables 2" panel — perhaps due to him currently filming "Empire State" in Louisiana — but it'd be a real treat if he made a surprise cameo for his macho movie's big day. Also, Jennifer Lawrence might not have an "X-Men: First Class" sequel panel to attend this year, but there is a Women of Marvel event lined up on Sunday. As Mystique, she totally belongs on the stage, but we'd be just as happy to spot her nudge into the crowd for that one.

Oodles of Katnisses

We can't wait to see what "The Hunger Games" fans come up with for cosplay this year, and we predict that there'll be tons of Katniss costumes on display all over the Con. Bows, braids and cargo pants aplenty! We can picture it already.

Last year around this time, Lionsgate unveiled the first movie poster for "The Hunger Games," which was a brilliant, fiery mockingjay pin treat. We're hoping they'll repeat the favor and drop the first "Catching Fire" parachute poster upon us this year too.

Yesterday, "The Hunger Games" film studio Lionsgate confirmed what we've been suspecting for a while now: that this franchise will duly follow in the footsteps of "Harry Potter" and "The Twilight Saga" and release its final chapter, "Mockingjay," in two installments.

Yep, not surprisingly, a trilogy's just not enough when we're talking about cashing in on a phenomenon like this, so Suzanne Collins' third and final "Hunger Games" book  will be split into two films, with Part 1 debuting on Nov. 21, 2014, and Part 2 following along on Nov. 20, 2015.

This news got our wheels really cranking about where the split potential lies in the story, and we came up with five "Mockingjay" moments with real cliffhanger potential. Fair warning: Spoilers abound if you haven't read the books.

Peeta, the Messenger

There's a moment in "Mockingjay" when the Capitol presents their new prisoner Peeta Mellark to plea for the rebels to discontinue their dangerous revolutions. They've been holed up in District 13 and filming anti-Capitol propaganda videos in the districts, and they've already experienced the fallout from one ill-fated trip to District 8.

When Peeta's first appearance on Capitol TV doesn't work, the government tries again, this time with a Peeta shown to be savagely beaten. Peeta — obviously scripted — nixes the diplomacy and addresses Katniss directly in the interview. Katniss rightly interprets this as a direct warning to District 13 that an attack is imminent. The group dives lower into the holding and the attack indeed begins. The sound of those bombs dropping upon the rebels' stronghold sure would leave us trembling and ravenous for resolve.

Deadly Rescue Mission

Katniss takes a hit on one of her propos missions for District 13, and when she wakes up in the hospital, she gets some troubling news: Gale and others have been sent on a rescue mission to retrieve Peeta and Finnick Odair's love Annie. It's a dangerous ordeal. Katniss faces the reality that she may lose not one but both of the boys she cares about, and there's nothing she can do to stop it ... Scary, scary!

Peeta Returns ... Sort Of

There's another split potential moment when Gale and team do return successfully from their rescue mission. They've saved Peeta and some of the others from the Capitol, and she's relieved about that. When she goes to see him and he rushes over to her, though, and rather than the warm loving embrace she was expecting, he lunges for her throat.

This is not the same Peeta she's always known. All bets are off now. Splitting the two films at this point would give the filmmakers an opportunity to really play up Peeta's dramatic rescue and the consequences of Katniss' acceptance of the role of the Mockingjay. Not only would this be a frightening and intense moment to end with, but it would also set the stage well for the later events to come between them and for the revolution at large.

Katniss Takes a Bullet

Once Katniss discovers that Peeta is no longer the boy who's loved her for always, she also begins to discover a cruel side to Gale. He's got some strange opinions about some potentially inhumane weapons developed by District 13. Sure, they've shared a couple of kisses by then, but when he suggests trapping the citizens of District 2's stronghold, the comparisons between those people and her father are inevitable. Both of the boys she loves are now forever changed human beings.

As she begins to reluctantly create another of her anti-Capitol vids celebrating their horrific win, some of District 2's pitiful survivors begin to emerge. Katniss steps up to rescue one of them from her own people, and someone points a gun on her. She offers up her own life. It's what the Capitol wants, she contends. She then tries to rally everyone together to fight as one against the Capitol, and that's when a bullet hits her. For obvious reasons, this would definitely leave "Hunger Games" fans clammoring for "Part 2."

A Wayward Peeta Joins the Team

After Katniss recovers from the District 2 incident, and once Peeta begins to show his own signs of improvement, she decides not to give up on the fight. She plays along with the tactics of District 13 to stay safe, but she's got her own agenda in mind. She's got her sights set on the Capitol but agrees to join as the rebels head through District 12 to start. Goings are slow at first, but one of her team members does die thanks to a pod attack.

When a replacement soldier shows up, it's Peeta, who's nowhere near 100 percent Team Katniss. Katniss realizes that Alma Coin, the leader of District 13, wants her dead. Peeta admits that Katniss is now more dangerous to the mission alive than dead. Dun dun dun!
