Ah, New Year's Eve — a magical evening filled with champagne, kisses at the stroke of midnight and, of course, a fresh start to the year ahead. Meg Ryan used to be America's pixie princess of romantic comedy, Tom Hanks' go-to onscreen gal, the yin to our yang, the Sally to our Harry, etc etc. Then she vanished. (Okay, so she didn't Bobby Fischer-level vanish, but her career did make like a ship in the Bermuda Triangle.)
The "Sleepless in Seattle" actress's last role to gross dollar-one at the box office was 2001's "Kate & Leopold," and then the whole "Russell Crowe-gate" thing happened, along with "Meg Ryan's Face-gate."
