Saoirse Ronan Becomes Royalty With 'Mary, Queen of Scots'

The "Host" star will soon be ruling Scotland as she sits on the throne of the period drama, "Mary, Queen of Scots," according to Deadline.

Like any good tale of royalty, the story of "Mary" is fraught with murder, incest and power being given to people who are way, way too young to know what to do with it.

Crowned the queen of Scotland before she was a year old, Mary Stuart (1542-1587) also became the queen consort of France after her first husband ascended to the French throne. After she was widowed, she married her first cousin, who was found murdered in his garden a couple of years after their wedding. Mary then went on to marry the man who was probably responsible for that murder and later became one of the chief enemies of her first cousin once removed, Queen Elizabeth I of England. Get More »
