This week: Wes Anderson's latest heartfelt comedy, "Moonrise Kingdom," chronicles the great romance between two 12-year-old runaways during the summer of 1965.
Also new this week is the animated sequel "Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted," the found footage-ish horror flick "Chernobyl Diaries," the Adam Sandler comedy "That's My Boy" and an edition of "Avatar" on Blu-ray 3D that one can buy without it being bundled with a hardware purchase. Get More »
Hollywood has often been described as "The Dream Factory," but when it comes to animated movies cartoonists can fudge the line between a dream romantic coupling and a laughable OkCupid date gone wrong.
Be it chunky monkey Ray Winstone sexing up Angelina Jolie in "Beowulf" or Meryl Streep winding up Mrs. George Clooney in "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" (which even she admitted was hilarious), there are many examples of said pairings — and here are ten more for you to fantasize about.
What was supposed to be a big weekend for new movies turned out to be a big weekend for old movies, as holdovers "Madagascar 3" and "Prometheus" took the top two spots at the box office following disappointing debuts for "Rock of Ages" and "That's My Boy."
According to Film.com, "Madagascar 3" held on to the number one position for the second week running thanks to a strong $35.5 million take, while second place "Prometheus" brought in an additional $20.1 million. "Rock of Ages" finished in third with $15.1 million, while "That's My Boy" wound up way back in fifth with just $13 million.
For a full run down of the weekend box office, including figures for returning hits "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Men in Black 3," head to Film.com.
