The visual effects department had to do a pretty bang-up job to make Joseph Gordon-Levitt look even remotely similar to a young yippee ki-yaying mother-f---er Bruce Willis in Rian Johnson's time-hopping "Looper," but since Hollywood's baddest, baldest ass-kicker was blessed with three daughters and no sons in real life, there wasn't much of a choice. Sure, all that pain and suffering ultimately paid off, but there are some people who've got it way, way easier.

For fellow action hero Will Smith, for example, his prime mini-me is his own son Jaden who doesn't need a stitch of prosthesis to pull it off because, you know, doy. The two star as, surprise surprise, father and son in M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming sci-fi thriller "After Earth," and we swear that the older Fresh Prince Jr. gets, the more of that Big Willie Style he inherits.

The casting director on "Stuck on Love" must've needed exactly zero minutes to knot together this mother-daughter pair for the indie family drama. After it lost not one, not two, but three directors in a row, the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's zany "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" seemed, well, dead.

But it was right there in the title the whole time, you see. "Zombies." Zombies don't die. And neither will this movie.

Lily Collins, who'll soon be seen slaying other things that go bump in the night in "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," has now signed on to lead the pic.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, "PPZ" has also scored itself a new director in Burr Steers (you might know him from his pair of Zac Efron charmers "17 Again" and "Charlie St. Cloud") and will be shopped at Cannes.

It's allliiiiiive!

For the uninitiated, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is a parody novel which mashes up, duh, Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" with zombies. The quirky take places the Bennet sisters in a countryside estate surrounded by the walking dead, while young Elizabeth and the handsome Mr. Darcy hate-flirt it up.

The bones of the story are pretty much a clinical match-up with the classic version except that the way a guy shows his affection in the new take involves splintering a reanimated carcass' head in two before it gets a nip at her neck rather than, say, jewelry.

So, what sayeth the interwebs about young Collins for the role?

The back-to-back floppery of "Beautiful Creatures" and "The Host" has left a lot of industry folks confused about the perceived ticketing draw of Young Adult book-to-film properties. Aren't these movies supposed to be raking in gobs of dough and keying up innumerable sequels, the last of which will be a two-parter of some sort? Where are all the ladies and their signs at the midnight lines and the tattoos and such? To that we say, see the list. Know the list. The formula is much more complicated than it might seem.

Sony Pictures hopes that their "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" will become the first film of the year to rejuvenate that ravenous YA fanfare, and they just might pull it off, too.

For their newest trailer, the focus is upon adorable Brooklyn-born redhead Clary (Lily Collins) as she stumbles upon a small world of Shadowhunters — led by the hunky dark hero Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower). Her mother's gone missing, and she's now seeing things, eeevil things her bestie Simon (Robert Sheehan) can't. This means she's a part of this riveting demon-slayer business, and she quite likes it.

If we were doing movie math on this one, it'd be "Legion" + "Harry Potter" + "Twilight" - "Beautiful Creatures."

"City of Bones" hits theaters on Aug. 2, and it'll be the first in a series of fall YA adaptation releases (followed up by "Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters," "The Seventh Son," "Ender's Game" and the guaranteed runaway "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire").

Given the timing of this one's release — the book series is not yet complete, so the fanbase is still very active and excitable — we can probably add this one to the will-be-successful pile.

Novelists are awesome. A good book is like an old friend, and we tip our proverbial hat to anyone who can pluck a tale from thin air and entertain or, better yet, enlighten a total stranger. Put too many writers in one family, though, and the plot is bound to get thick with complications.

So the story goes in "Stuck In Love," formerly titled "Writers."

This debut for writer-director Josh Boone — who'll next helm "The Fault In Our Stars" — presents William Borgens (Greg Kinnear), a successful author who just can't get over his ex-wife (Jennifer Connelly), even though she's moved on to a new, more buff flame. Sure, he's got some bedroom action of his own going on with a neighbor (Kristen Bell), but it's not quite satisfying his need for all the feels. Meanwhile, his two children have some drama of their own to grapple with. Daughter Samantha (Lily Collins) is a free bird when it comes to the horizontal mambo, and the fact that she's on her way to being published really irks the skin off her brother Rusty (Nat Wolff). Enter nice boy Lou (Logan Lerman) who looks to make an honest woman out of the girl somehow. People say some things, a few hugs are passed around and self-questions arise. Ah, family.

The film, which hits theaters on June 14, first debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"Fault" author John Green, for one, loved the movie and was thus convinced he "won the lottery" by nabbing Boone as the director for his adaptation.

Set visits are cool enough, but set visits that involve a big party scene? Even better.

Everyone seems very excited to be bringing Cassandra Clare's bestselling novel to life ... even at three o'clock in the morning.

[From MTV.com] He's played a dark wizard and a villainous vamp, but actor Jamie Campbell Bower is tackling his most physically demanding role yet in the upcoming "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" as demon-destroying Shadowhunter Jace Wayland.

Based upon the urban fantasy series by Cassandra Clare, "City of Bones" stars Lily Collins as a Brooklyn teen who discovers she's a descendant of an ancient line of half-human, half-angel warriors tasked with protecting Earth from dark forces. Campbell Bower plays her love interest in the film, and the actress had plenty of accolades for her co-star when MTV News caught up with her at the Toronto International Film Festival recently, where she was supporting another film, "Writers."

"When he walked into the room for the audition — I remember telling you this actually, a while ago — that he walked on and that was it. That was Jace. He nailed it," Collins recalled. "He didn't have to try. He's that perfect mixture between being this, like, mysterious Jace and also very endearing and funny, and he brings this wit and charm that only Jamie can bring. You just burst out laughing because he's so deadpan when he delivers things."

Fans of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" series will agree that casting for the "City of Bones" movie has been one hellaciously long process. Consider this: The first actor announcement came down nearly two years ago.

However, as the spiffy new official movie website for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" now shows, there are very few spaces left open on the casting roster. In fact, this week "The Tudors" star Jonathan Rhys Meyers might've nabbed the biggest opening left (he's reportedly in talks to star as Valentine Morgenstern, the brainy and sadistic arch-villain of the series).

The loose ends are really starting to tie up on the project, and it's about time seeing as production is expected to at long last begin on August 15. So, to give you a handy who's who in the newly developed "Mortal Instruments" cast family, we assembled the low-down on everyone — Shadowhunters, High Warlocks and human sidekicks-turned-rats alike.

Lily Collins (Clary Fray)

Lily Collins was cast as Clary Fray all the way back in December 2010. Through studio debacles, a director switch-up and a lengthy period of production being on pause, Collins faithfully remained tethered to the world of the Shadowhunters. Why? This series is ripe to be the next big thing, of course! She told us back in May 2011, "to be able to have my own franchise, and one based on a girl heroine, it's a complete honor."

The scene she's been most looking forward to shooting, she once revealed to Hollywood Crush, is "the moment when she discovers she is the one -- there's this thing called the Mortal Cup, which is what everyone's searching for -- and she finds she's the only one who knows where it is because she draws it in a book."

Physical description: Clary is a red-haired, 15-year-old Brooklyn native and talented artist who discovers she's got some previously un-tapped demon-slaying talents in addition to having a nice brush stroke.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "The producers and director have worked with her before and say great things ... She is completely adorable and looks right for Clary to me."

Jamie Campbell Bower (Jace Wayland)

Jamie Campbell Bower has also been sitting on his part for quite a while now, having been announced for the dreamy role of Jace Wayland back in May 2011. He nabbed the gig, he admitted, by working his tail off for the audition. "I did a lot of preparation ... I sent an email out asking what the character would wear, how he would dress, and I really focused on it," he explained to Hollywood Crush.

What Bower is looking forward to most is a little stunt work, and "really, just getting to know who this guy is because he's very jovial, and he's a joker, but he also has this vulnerability about him and that's exciting for me to be able to do — he's got so many layers and a lot of depth."

Physical description: Jace is a blonde, golden-eyed dreamboat. He's strong, lean and nearly perfect-looking (save for a chipped tooth).

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "I am thoroughly, totally, extremely, and utterly delighted ... He was Jace, down to the snark, and the vulnerability, and the humor and the romantic side...."

Robert Sheehan (Simon Lewis)

Robert Sheehan of "Misfits" fame was plucked for the trusty sidekick role Simon Lewis in "The Mortal Instruments" after testing with Collins and Bower in Toronto.

Physical description: Simon's a mousy (pun intended) brown-haired 16-year-old who plays the bass in a band. He's also Clary's BFF who gets dragged into her mess and turned into a rodent.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "He's totally cute and adorable and HILARIOUS, and his chemistry with Lily and Jamie is off the charts. I've wanted him for Simon for ages so I am pretty much totally and entirely happy."

Jemima West (Isabelle Lightwood)

Jemima West was tapped to be Isabelle Lightwood, the most lovable mean girl in YA lit-to-film since Rosalie Hale in "Twilight."

Physical description: This tall, raven-haired 16-year-old wields a whip and some stylish kicks, but she doesn't exactly wear her heart on her sleeve. Also, she's known to wear a snarl around perceived ordinary humans ("mundies").

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "She's beautiful (like whoa) and really talented ... She had a lot of Izzy's toughness and directness in her audition. I like her."

Kevin Zegers (Alec Lightwood)

The confused and slightly embittered teen (and brother to Izzy) Alec Lightwood will be portrayed by "Gossip Girl" star Kevin Zegers. We just hope Zegers gets on well with Jamie Campbell Bower because they're going to have some mighty interesting scenes together.

Physical description: Like his sister, Alec's got dark hair and lean features and is often spotted with an otherworldly weapon at the ready. Unlike her, he's a lot less comfortable in his own skin and has long suffered self-confidence issues and initial discomfort over his own sexuality.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "I’ve always liked Kevin ... Kevin played [the audition] with a quiet sort of intensity that grew through the scene so you could see through the cracks of the anger and think: wow, this guy is really scared and vulnerable. Because that is the Alec people love."

Lena Headey (Jocelyn Fray)

"Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey will play the mom who desperately tries for a new, non-mystical life in New York but who's thrust back into the thick of it after being kidnapped. She's no ordinary damsel in distress, though.

Physical description: Jocelyn is the thirty-something version of her daughter, Clary. Like mother, like daughter, she also sports some fiery tresses and emerald eyes.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "I have had an actress crush on Lena for years so when they told me she was cast I did a happy dance ... I think she will be amazing as Jocelyn. I am super-psyched."

Aidan Turner (Luke Garroway)

Let's hope their previous experience working in fantasy lore breaks the ice because "The Hobbit" star Aidan Turner and Lena Headey are going to be working together pretty closely for "The Mortal Instruments." Lucian, known to Clary as Uncle Luke, has quite a soft spot for Miss Jocelyn, and he'll do anything to protect the ladies in his life.

Physical description: It's not immediately obvious — since he's got your typical brown hair and blue eyes features — but "Uncle Luke" is a werewolf.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "Harald [Zwart, director] was so excited to work with him he was hopping around. I'm pretty excited about him playing Luke myself!"

CCH Pounder (Madame Dorothea)

When it comes to magicians, nothing is ever as it seems. So is the case with Madame Dorothea, the downstairs neighbor of Jocelyn and Clary Fray. CCH Pounder, long-time Hollywood veteran and multiple Emmy nominee, will bring this vexing character to life.

Physical description: Elderly in appearance but tough as nails; also known to fancy excessive jewelry and house slippers.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "Our director's wanted to work with her for ages and I think she will be amazing."

Godfrey Gao (Magnus Bane)

Brooklyn's High Warlock and party planner extraordinaire Magnus Bane will be portrayed by relative newcomer Godfrey Gao.

Physical description: Magnus is flashy and not afraid to flaunt some make-up and nail polish. Also, his nationality is half Indonesian and Dutch, half demon. Now there's a combo.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "Godfrey is, in addition to being all gorgeous and stuff, super-talented (his audition was awesome), loves the books, and is, like Magnus, ridiculously tall."

Jared Harris (Hodge Starkweather)

"Mad Men" star Jared Harris is on tap to portray the perplexing tutor Hodge Starkweather, who lives in exile and is not very happy about it.

Physical description: Middle-aged with grey hair and a scar running up the right side of his face.

Cassie Clare's casting comments: "I think he’ll really nail Hodge's moral dilemma."

The Rest

Valentine's cronies Emil Panborn and Samuel Blackwell will be portrayed by "Lost" mean-mug Kevin Durand and "Sherlock Holmes" brawn Robert Maillet. These two are trusted members of The Circle, who do Valentine's wicked bidding in "City of Bones." Meanwhile, Brother Jeremiah, who is eyeless and has his mouth sewn shut, will be portrayed by Stephen R. Hart, who, as Cassandra Clare put it, "seems appropriately creepy" for the part.

Apart from a confirmation on Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Valentine and announcements for two lingering roles — vampire Raphael Santiago and werewolf Alaric — this is your full "The Mortal Instruments" thesp line-up.

Watching progress on the film adaptation of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" has been giving us a slight case of whiplash, but lately things have started to look up for the project and now a release date for the picture has been announced as August 23, 2013.

Go ahead, mark your calendars. We'll wait.

Less than two months ago, a studio scramble began when Sony's  Screen Gems dropped their option for the film, sending "Mortal Instruments" fans into a tizzy, but now Sony's back on board for the movie and looks to have it in theaters just a year after the announced shooting start date.

Both Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower are still in the picture, set to portray leads Clary Fray and Jace Wayland respectively, and Cassandra Clare teased fans that she, Collins, and the new director, Harald Zwart, have someone in mind for the third major series character Simon.

"I will say that she definitely likes someone for Simon that a lot of you all like. Who knows, maybe she can talk him into it. Girl with good taste, our Lily," she explained. Many suspect the person she's referring to is Collins' "Writers" co-star Logan Lerman, but he's got his hands full with his own book-to-screen series "Percy Jackson & The Olympians," the sequel for which is due next March.

I. Marlene King is writing the script adaptation of Clare's novel, and production will begin on Aug. 15.

The announced August 2013 release date is a safe distance from fellow YA book-to-film translations "Catching Fire" (Nov. 22, 2013) and the handful slated for February and March, including "Beautiful Creatures," "Warm Bodies," "Ender's Game" and "The Host."

She's one of the busiest young actresses in Hollywood, scoring choice parts like that of the iconic Snow White in "Mirror Mirror" as well as several other high-profile roles. But just who is Lily Collins, and why is she so hot right now?

"Lily Collins is a film producer’s dream -- cute, talented and level-headed," says Amy Wilkinson, editor of the film blog at Hollywood Crush. "I doubt you’ll ever read a story about Collins having an on-set tantrum or meltdown. The question is: Who wouldn’t want to work with a poised, intelligent young actress?"

Let's take a look at some of the reasons Collins is getting so much play these days.

She was born and bred to be in the spotlight.

Collins is showbiz progeny, born in England to legendary musician Phil Collins and his second wife, Jill Tavelman. After her parents' divorce when she was a pre-schooler, Lily and her mom moved to Los Angeles.

Writing, rather than acting, appeared to be her first love -- as a teenager she wrote for national magazines, including Teen Vogue. She attended USC, where she majored in broadcast journalism. Collins put that training to good use when she covered the 2008 presidential campaign for  Nickelodeon's "Nick News with Linda Ellerbee: Kids Pick the President." She also made several appearances on the CW television show "90210" in 2008 and 2009.

She has a distinctive natural beauty.

Collins is known for her thick, dark eyebrows. "I think Lily has an approachable glamour, a mix of model beauty and the charms of the posh-but-nice girl that both jocks and geeks had a crush on in high school," says Matt Sullivan, movie critic for InTouch Weekly.

But looks aren't everything in Hollywood, he notes, especially when it comes to scoring a leading role in a big-budget picture. "The fact that she is Phil Collins' daughter -- and yet so beautiful -- was the genesis of a lot of her early media coverage. But no one's casting you as Snow White opposite Julia Roberts just because your dad sang 'Sussudio.'"

'Mirror Mirror' will reflect her star power.

Collins reportedly won the coveted role opposite Julia Roberts by replacing Saoirse Ronan. She was so enamored of the character that she also auditioned for Snow White in the upcoming "Snow White and the Huntsman," a role that went to Kristen Stewart in what's viewed as a much darker version of the fairytale.

"'Mirror, Mirror' will be the first real test to see whether she can pop on-screen the way she does in fashion magazines," says Sullivan.

She's already had some hits, and some misses.

Anyone remember "Abduction," last year's box office stinker starring Taylor Lautner? The only good thing that came out of that was her dating relationship with "Twilight" hunk Lautner. (She has also been seen out with Zac Efron, another boost to her public profile.)

Collins' first big-screen outing came with a small but important role in "The Blind Side," in which she played the daughter of the wealthy Tuohy family. Interestingly, the first name of the girl was Collins. In 2011, she also appeared in "Priest," a sci-fi horror film about a priest who tracks down vampires who kidnapped his niece (Collins), starring Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet.

But her biggest roles -- and presumably hits -- are yet to come.

Collins will appear in the indie comedy "The English Teacher" later this year with Julianne Moore and Greg Kinnear, who will also be her costar in the upcoming "Writers."

If you haven't yet heard of "The Mortal Instruments," you will. "I’m most excited to see Collins begin production on the long-gestating, big-screen adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s 'Mortal Instruments' series," says Wilkinson. Daughter of pop icon Phil, the 22-year-old was -- until very recently -- heading toward a career as, well, a media type like us, studying broadcast journalism at USC. Then the acting bug bit, and Collins won her first movie role, playing daughter to Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock in 2009's surprise hit "The Blind Side."

She's since played niece to Paul Bettany's badass man of cloth in "Priest" and love interest to Taylor Lautner in the actioner "Abduction."

Now she's the Friend of Dwarves herself, Snow White, in "Mirror Mirror" (opposite Julia Roberts' Evil Queen) and will soon be headlining  the eagerly anticipated "Mortal Instruments" (as YA heroine Clary Fray), among a slew of other projects.

What was your very first acting gig?
When I was 2, I did a TV show in England called "Growing Pains" [on BBC, not the American version with Kirk Cameron].

Do you remember it?
I do. I remember being on set and I remember one day, specifically, they had just given me a new wardrobe. And then they put all this fake throw-up on me. And I remember just breaking down and crying because I had no idea what they were doing, they were just splattering it on me, tormenting me. That technically was my first job. But then movie-wise it was "The Blind Side."

How did having a father as an entertainer prepare you for Hollywood?
I grew up knowing the pros and cons of the business, and knowing what comes with pursuing what you love, in terms of being in the public eye. I also grew up among people that were considered celebrities and people that people admired. So yes, I admire those people for what they do but I see them as human beings first…  They were normal people that you just respected.

Who are some of your acting inspirations?
I love Anne Hathaway. Meryl Streep. I love Helena Bonham Carter because every character that she portrays, she's just something completely different. And she has that quirky factor that she just owns. Sandra Bullock, who I had the pleasure and honor of working with on my first film. And Julia Roberts ... my co-star [in "Snow White"]. And Audrey Hepburn is my ultimate. My classic idol.

What would you be doing if you weren't acting?
I've always loved fashion design. I love drawing and creating looks and styling. Something creative. I'm a huge writer. I used to interview, and do stuff on-air, so possibly writing and interviewing.

Soon, we think, looking at your upcoming roles, which include "Mortal Instruments." What can you tell us about that?
I'm Clary Fray, and we're looking at the casting for the rest of the characters, and it's based on the most amazing series of books by Cassandra Clare. And being a fan of "Harry Potter" and "Twilight," to be able to have my own franchise, and one based on a girl heroine, it's a complete honor. And I love [director Scott Charles Stewart, who also helmed "Priest"] and [Screen Gems exec Clint Culpepper].

How does it feel to hear this project could be the next "Potter" or "Twilight"?
Seriously, I read the series of books and loved it, and I forget how many fans – I mean, I'm a fan of it – but  how many of us are out there. The second casting hit the internet, it's like an uproar… You read a book about a heroine and you have this vision in your mind, so the second it's cast it could go either way. So to have their support and enthusiasm behind me was a complete honor. And it's a crazy thought to think it could turn into that.

Pre-production on "The Mortal Instruments" has been quite a roller coaster ride, but source material author Cassandra Clare says things are getting back on a steady track.

Today, she took to Tumblr to share the news that shooting for "The Mortal Instruments" will begin, finally, on August 15.

This tidbit comes on the heels of a shake-up that happened last month when Sony Screen Gems dropped the project, leaving Constantin Films in charge of making the book-to-film adaptation, which many expect could swell to "Twilight"/"The Hunger Games" size.

Clare also announced that, despite her increasingly busy schedule, Lily Collins is still on board to portray Clary Fray in the film and that she's currently giving "meaningful consultation" to the casting director for the role of Simon, as she did with Jamie Campbell Bower for the role of Jace Wayland.

"I will say that she definitely likes someone for Simon that a lot of you all like. Who knows, maybe she can talk him into it. Girl with good taste, our Lily," Clare wrote.

Collins previously discussed her thoughts on casting Simon with MTV, noting that she'd heard the name Logan Lerman thrown around the fanbase quite a bit for the role. Also, Lily Collins and Logan Lerman are currently working together on "Writers," so Clare's statement that she might be able to talk him into it may have something to do with that.  Of course, Lerman has his hands full at the moment with his own book-to-film franchise, "Percy Jackson & The Olympians."

Other fan favorites for the part include Max Irons and Simon Reed.

Lily Collins and Kristen Bell are about to become persons of letters.

The fairest star of "Mirror Mirror" and the voice of the "Gossip Girl" herself are set to join the family of "Writers," a romantic drama starring Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly, according to Deadline.

"Writers" follows the members of the somewhat dysfunctional Borgens family and their various romantic (mis)adventures over the course of the year. Bill Borgens (Kinnear) is a famous novelist who's obsessed with his ex-wife (Connelly), despite the considerable distractions provided by his friend-with-benefits (Bell); meanwhile, his daughter (Collins) is being pursued by a fellow writing student (Logan Lerman) and his son (Nat Wolff) is experiencing first love with a classmate (Liana Liberto).

We expect the final scene of the movie will take place in the kitchen with all of the characters coming together and coming to terms with their own respective flaws and neuroses, kind of like in "Moonstruck."

Things were looking a bit spotty for Lily Collins' career for a while after the critical and commercial disaster that was "Abduction," the possible cancellation of "The Mortal Instruments" and her dropping out of the "Evil Dead" remake, but she's scored some pretty great gigs in just the past few weeks, including the Shakespeare spinoff, "Rosaline," and the romantic supernatural drama, "A Winter's Tale." She'll next be seen as Snow White in "Mirror Mirror," opening March 30.

Kristen Bell is currently starring on the hot television series, "House of Lies," and was recently seen worrying about whales in "Big Miracle." She recently signed on for Neil LaBute's "Some Girls" and has several releases lined up for this year, including "Movie 43," "Outrun" and "Dance of the Mirlitons."

"Writers" begins production next week in North Carolina under the direction of Josh Boone, who will be making his feature writing and directing debut.

Blockbuster screenwriter Akiva Goldsman ("The Da Vinci Code," "I Am Legend") is beckoning some of the biggest emerging talents in town to put on their parkas and trudge through the snow with him for "A Winter's Tale."

The Hollywood Reporter claims Tom Hiddleston, the Brit who made "Thor" hot'r (yay, anagrams!) as the villainous Loki, and the fairest "Mirror Mirror" star of them all Lily Collins are just two of the actors testing next week for "Tale," Goldsman's directorial debut.

Benjamin Walker ("Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter") is also competing for the male lead, while Bella Heathcote ("Dark Shadows") and Jessica Brown Findlay ("Downton Abbey") will have to pillow fight with Collins for a role.

The movie is a period genre-twister that involves "a thief on the run who, when breaking into a wealthy man’s home, strikes up a relationship with the man’s terminally ill daughter." Apparently flying horses and a 100-year time-jump figure into the long-in-development project, based on a supernatural novel by Mark Helprin.

Goldsman is both the Academy Award-winning screenwriter of "A Beautiful Mind" and the Razzie Award-nominated scribe behind "Batman & Robin." Make of that what you will, but we're hoping he's at least learned his lesson about putting nipples on costumes.

Interestingly, Goldsman is using some old buddies in smaller roles as an incentive for Warner Bros. to move forward with "A Winter's Tale," namely bad boy Will Smith playing a judge and Russell Crowe as a ruthless American gangster.

Lily Collins is set to swap a fairy tale for a little Shakespeare.

The "Mirror Mirror" star will soon be getting tragically romantic as she's signed on to star in "Rosaline," a spinoff of the Bard's classic love story, "Romeo and Juliet," according to Variety.

"Rosaline," which is based on a yet-to-be-published novel by Rebecca Serles, centers on the young woman whom Romeo mentions a few times during the first act of Shakespeare's play, a would-be ladylove he quickly dumps (off-stage) once he gets a look at Juliet. If Romeo had stayed with Rosaline, there would've been no "Romeo and Juliet" -- now it's time to hear her side of the story.

Lily Collins will be playing Juliet, a role to which Hailee Steinfeld ("True Grit") was originally attached. Collins was in the running last summer to play the title role, which has since gone to "True Blood" star Deborah Ann Woll. Meanwhile, Dave Franco ("21 Jump Street") will soon be learning Romeo's lines.

Hopefully the "Rosaline" gig will stick for Collins, as she's been experiencing some false starts lately; she was attached and then quickly unattached to the "Evil Dead" remake and the would-be franchise-starter "The Mortal Instruments" has been sort-of canceled. She'll next be seen as Snow White in "Mirror Mirror," opening March 30.

"Rosaline" will commence with production this spring under the direction of Michael Sucsy, a man no stranger to epic romance after directing "The Vow."

It looks like "Suburgatory" star Jane Levy is heading from the suburbs to hell on earth the woods — because the starlet is in final talks to play the lead role in Fede Alvarez's remake of Sam Raimi's "The Evil Dead."

If this happens, Levy will be filling the vacant spot that opened up when Lily Collins exited the film recently. (No formal word as to why she packed up before the camera got rolling.)

According to Deadline, this reboot of the story follows Mia, a character that roughly corresponds to Ash (played by Bruce Campbell in the 1981 original).

Mia is one of five young friends who head to a remote cabin where evil awaits. Dun dun dun. Because Mia is a recovering drug addict, who barely survived a recent overdose, she is particularly vulnerable to the evil, and has a harder time convincing her cabin-mates that what she has seen isn't some withdrawal side effect. Bummer.

Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues, and "Juno" scribe Diablo Cody too a crack at the most-recent draft—which makes us think it should be a pretty solid horror flick. (We're not going to hold "Jennifer's Body" against Cody forever.)

The movie is aiming for an April 12, 2013 release, so take those romantic cabin getaways this year.

The annual Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue is always packed with gorgeous photos and profiles of the hottest up-and-coming stars, and this year is no different. The three-part cover features 11 of our favorite ladies snapped by high-end photographer Mario Testino in super glam styles.

Oscar nominee/multiple piercee Rooney Mara is sporting a sleek Louise Brooks bob, while "Albert Nobbs" star Mia Wasikowska chills at her feet. Next to them, Jennifer Lawrence is looking fierce in a totally non-Katniss way, while Jessica Chastain is channeling an old school siren.

The second and third parts of the cover are equally robust. Elizabeth Olsen, who wowed in us in "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and charmed us in "Liberal Arts" at Sundance, is featured next to "Pariah" breakout star (and Meryl Streep fave) Adepero Oduye and Shailene Woodley from "The Descendants." The first panel of the mag's cover is the most high profile, the one that you see when you go to your local magazine stand. (Or are we dating ourselves?) The second and third are less so. Sizzling starlet Lily Collins (of "The Blind Side" and "Mirror Mirror" fame) is about to add another impressive line to her resume: lead role in Fred Alvarez's reboot of the 1981 cult classic "The Evil Dead."

This version focuses on five friends — David, Natalie, Eric, Olivia and Mia (Collins) — holed up at a remote cabin where they stumble upon a Book of the Dead… which unleashes a demonic force that proceeds to possess each of them until there is one left to fight for survival. This is classic fight or fight people.

So who makes up this unlucky crew? David, a mechanic, is engaged to Natalie, while Mia is the token druggie addict heading to the cabin to detox with the help of Olivia, her best friend and nurse. Since Mia has recently overdosed and is clearly struggling with her newfound "sobriety," it comes as no surprise that nobody believes her when she starts making crazy claims of coyote dogs and trees attacking her. Eric, the last member of the tribe, is presumably the one responsible for accidentally releasing the demon. Oops.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Shooting is set to start this March in New Zealand and Alvarez is gunning for an April 2013 release. While we have to wait and see who lives and who… doesn't, one thing is certain: with Collins on board, the cast is off to a stunning start.

What do you do after you play Snow White? Go back to school, apparently.

The star of director Tarsem Singh's still-untitled "Snow White" project (why not just call it "Snow White" at this point?) has responded "Here!" to the attendance call of the new indie comedy, "The English Teacher," according to Deadline.

"The English Teacher" stars Julianne Moore as a beloved high school English teacher whose repressed personal life contrasts wildly with the passion she brings to the classroom. When a former student (Michael Angarano) returns home after failing as a playwright in New York City, she encourages him to mount his unproduced script at the school, which creates all sorts of drama -- and not just on the stage.

Collins will be playing a student who clashes with the teacher (but who, we're assuming, will probably end up playing the lead role in the play). The cast also includes Greg Kinnear (as, we're assuming, Moore's husband who probably always looks worried and/or confused) and Nathan Lane (as, we're assuming, the somewhat "theatrical" school principal -- just going out on a limb, here).

Lily Collins was recently seen running for her life alongside Taylor Lautner in "Abduction." She'll appear as the Fairest of Them All in "Snow White," which opens March 16, 2012, and will be playing the role of Clary Fray in "The Mortal Instruments."

"The English Teacher" started shooting this week in New York City under the direction of Craig Zisk ("Weeds," "Nurse Jackie").

So Fresh: When your dad is the late Dennis Hopper, you're pretty much born cool; but Henry's first film as a bona fide grown-up proves he's not messing around with any fluffy stuff. Hopper costars with Mia Wasikowska as Enoch and Annabel, two damaged lovebirds in this multiple hanky film from the esteemed Gus Van Sant. This isn't your typical Nicholas Sparks romantic drama. Annabel has cancer and three months to live, and death-obsessed Enoch's best friend is Hiroshi, the ghost of a Japanese kamikaze pilot. "Restless" drips cool, from Wasikowska's pixie haircut to the delicate, tinkly score from Danny Elfman. Put Hopper down on your "to watch" list of arty young actors with a fabulous future ahead of them.

Starring in: "Abduction" (September 23)
So Fresh: Lily Collins first grabbed our attention in "The Blind Side," and since then, the offers have been rolling in. She's got plenty of projects lined up, like the starring role in Tarsem Singh's upcoming Snow White film and the adaptation of YA hit "The Mortal Instruments," but her first starring role is opposite hunky lycanthrope Taylor Lautner in this fast-paced thriller. Lautner, her rumored ex-beau, has told press peeps, "There is an intense steamy scene," although things stay rather PG-13. Speaking of supernatural critters, she also narrowly escaped getting vamped out in "Priest" with Paul Bettany and another "Twilight"-er, Cam Gigandet. Looks like she's done with those feel-good Sandra Bullock flicks for now.

Juno Temple

Starring in: "Dirty Girl" (October 7)
So Fresh: Juno Temple is already known across the pond for her role in the wicked schoolgirl romp "St. Trinian's" and its sequel, but her star began to rise here in the U.S. with help from super-hip Gregg Araki's sexy sci-fi film "Kaboom." Her breakout role in "Dirty Girl" is hilarious and sassy, all set to an excellent '80s soundtrack. It's the tale of a girl on the loose, looking for who she is in the world, along with her gay best friend and their "baby," a sack full of flour named Joan (after Jett and Crawford, naturally). A road trip flick that's surprisingly sweet, "Dirty Girl" is just a taste of things to come for Temple, who switches neatly between indies like "Little Birds" and "Jack and Diane" and blockbusters like "The Three Musketeers" and "The Dark Knight Rises."

Weinstein Company

Kenny Wormald

Starring in: "Footloose" (October 14)
So Fresh: This dancin' fool is no joke when it comes to fancy footwork, which is a good thing since he has some big shoes to fill in this remake. Taking on the role of Ren McCormack puts Wormald about half a degree away from Kevin Bacon, who got a big career boost from the role in the 1984 original. (Which, by the way, was the year Wormald was born!) Wormald will have to bring some bite to the role, too, as director Craig Brewer is known for films like "Hustle and Flow" and "Black Snake Moan." What's next for young Wormald? If "Footloose" takes off, the sky -- or the stage or screen -- is the limit.

Julianne Hough

Starring in: "Footloose" (October 14)
So Fresh: The Ariel to Wormald's Ren, Hough has busted a move for years on "Dancing With the Stars." This two-time winner rumba-ed her way to number one with speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno and even managed to get Adam Carolla to do the tango. After "Footloose," we'll be seeing Hough in the film adaptation of the rock 'n' roll stage musical "Rock of Ages" as the lead Sherrie Christian; she joins a wild cast that includes Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Alec Baldwin and other big names. It looks like Hough's dancing feet will be taking her far.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Starring in: "The Thing" (October 14)
So Fresh: In this prequel to John Carpenter's terrifying 1982 movie, Winstead takes a flamethrower to her "Scott Pilgrim" alter ego Ramona Flowers, not to mention a whole buttload of slimy, gooey, awful aliens. While we loved Ramona's cool style and multicolored hair, it's great to see Winstead as a parka-wearing scientist caught in the middle of an increasingly horrific situation. (Not to mention that Carpenter's "The Thing" was all dudes, all the time.) We'll be seeing more of Winstead next summer as Mary Todd Lincoln in Timur Bekmambetov's big screen adaptation of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," alongside Benjamin Walker, Dominic Cooper, and Anthony Mackie. So protect your neck -- Ms. Winstead's coming.

Universal

Logan Lerman

Starring in: "The Three Musketeers" (October 21)
So Fresh: The boy behind Percy Jackson's adventures is growing up before our eyes. Although there's at least one more "Percy Jackson" movie in store for Lerman, he's making a 3-D splash this October in Paul W.S. Anderson's action-adventure extravaganza "The Three Musketeers." As D'Artagnan, Lerman will be slicing and dicing his way through France, accompanied by the lovely Gabriella Wilde as Constance and shoulder-to-shoulder with Ray Stevenson, Matthew Macfadyen and Luke Evans as the Three Musketeers. Aforementioned up-and-comer Juno Temple stars as Queen Anne, and Temple's "Dirty Girl" costar Milla Jovovich will be kicking butt in a corset as M'lady De Winter. Lerman also stars in the YA fave "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" alongside Emma Watson and Ezra Miller, which will hit theaters in 2012.

Summit

Elizabeth Olsen

Starring in: "Martha Marcy May Marlene" (October 21)
So Fresh: While some Sundance "It" Girls don't catch fire, there's no question that Olsen is hot, hot, hot. "Martha Marcy May Marlene" (or as we like to call it, "MMMM") is a tightly wound thriller about a young woman who gets caught up in a creepy cult, complete with a Charles Manson-like figure played by the extraordinary John Hawkes. Once she leaves, her real life is haunted by memories that leave her confused and disturbed; plus, her sister and brother-in-law are utterly perplexed by her bizarre and unexplained behavior. "MMMM" is total Oscar Bait ™, but Olsen already has more projects to come. And she did it without a lick of help from her older sisters MK and Ashley.

Felicity Jones

Starring in: "Like Crazy" (October 28)
So Fresh: Felicity Jones took home the Special Jury Prize at Sundance for her role in this heart-wringing drama about long distance love. "Like Crazy" had critics and festivalgoers sniffling about the back-and-forth relationship between Anna (Jones) and Jacob (Anton Yelchin) as they try and figure out how to make their international love work. Distance isn't their only problem, though, once Anna gets booted from the U.S. for visa problems. Crossed wires, mixed messages, text messages and missed phone calls over the years will have you rooting for this couple to make it work despite it all. There's plenty more coming down the pipeline for this "Tempest"-uous actress, so even if Anna and Jacob can't work it out, we'll be seeing more of Ms. Jones for years to come.

Starring in: "Immortals" (November 11)
So Fresh: Cavill was "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's first choice for Edward Cullen, and although she later decided he was perhaps a little long in the tooth for the high school vamp, his career is still sparkling bright. After a slew of roles in films and on TV, Cavill will be front and center in Tarsem Singh's 3-D mythical extravaganza about Theseus's fight against gnarly King Hyperion. There'll be nary a shirt in sight and plenty of fighting in this film that Singh has described as "Caravaggio meets 'Fight Club.'" No pressure, Henry. Fans are already scrutinizing his Superman outfit for "Man of Steel" as we write this -- where are his trunks? Where are they?! -- and by the time he whips off his Clark Kent glasses in 2013, the world won't know what hit 'em.

Starring in: "Hugo" (November 23)
So Fresh: How many kids can say that their first starring role was under a legendary director like Martin Scorsese, in a fantastical story surrounded by a star-studded cast? Not many, that's for sure. Based on the book by Brian Selznick, "The Invention of Hugo Cabret," this film is bursting at the seams with all kinds of delicious, steam-punky weirdness that has fans of the book and movie-lovers alike chomping at the bit. Described by Selznick as an "orphan, clock keeper, and thief," Hugo is sure to be Butterfield's breakout role, especially alongside actors like Chloe Moretz, Jude Law, Emily Mortimer, Ray Winstone, Ben Kingsley and Christopher Lee. Plus, Scorsese will have tons of fun with all of the film and historical references Selznick packed in there. Mark this down as a must-see.

Starring in: "New Year's Eve" (December 9)
So Fresh: Michele made a splash in the Broadway hit "Spring Awakening," but it looks like this "Glee"-ful gal has set her sights on the big screen. Remember "Valentine's Day"? Well, Garry Marshall's revisiting the whole intertwining-ensemble-holiday thing for "New Year's Eve," where Michele will sing with Jon Bon Jovi and apparently score a midnight kiss in Times Square from Ashton Kutcher. Sure, NYC nights are pretty exciting, but that's a lot for anyone to handle. Michele is also putting her pretty pipes to work for "Dorothy of Oz," the 3-D animated film that picks up where "The Wizard of Oz" left off.

Starring in: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (December 16)
So Fresh: This tiny Swede rocked our world as the fierce androgynous hacker Lisbeth Salander in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and its sequels with her mad skills and bad attitude. She'll be making her English-language debut this December as a French gypsy opposite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, whose bromance is elementary. This big-budget Warner Bros. vehicle will shuttle us straight into the holidaze. Not enough Noomi? She'll be taking on some outer space critters in Ridley Scott's 2012 movie "Prometheus," which takes place in the famous Giger-esque universe of "Alien."

Starring in: "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (December 21)
So Fresh: Speak of the (dragon-tattooed) devil! The girl who gave Mark Zuckerberg an earful in "The Social Network" has some more sass to dole out as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's remake of the Swedish smash hits. Mara had some serious competition for the role, but she managed to convince the finicky Fincher she was the perfect pick. Judging by the trailer and stark photos, including her incredible shoot for W magazine, we'd guess she's right.

Starring in: "War Horse" (December 28)
So Fresh: Steven Spielbeg is pretty much the man, and being hand-selected by him to star in an obviously Oscar-tastic film is like having a little tiny crown deposited on your head by an angel. An angel who makes careers. Irvine stars as Albert, a kid whose best friend is sent to France to fight in the first World War. Albert's BFF, however, is a horse named Joey, so it's not like things are going to go all that well for him in the war, right? Expect lots of "Saving Private Ryan"-style war stuff, heart-tugging animal love (the platonic kind), and a veddy impressive British cast.

For centuries, "Romeo and Juliet" has been the watchword in romance, the gold standard by which all other romances are judged. But did you know that before Juliet, Romeo was totally grooving on another chick first?

Well, you're about to find out, as indieWire is reporting that Keira Knightley and Lily Collins are among the stars being considered for the lead role in "Rosaline," a modernized retelling of the Shakespearean play which focuses instead on the life and times of the other woman in Romeo's life.

In your face, Juliet.

Nothing is certain yet, mind you, so there's no telling whether Knightley or Collins will end up playing Rosaline. But we do know this much: The film is an adaptation of the upcoming novel from author Rebecca Serles. And that novel, in turn, is a modern version of "Romeo and Juliet," set in high school and told from the point of view of Rosaline, the girl who Romeo is besotted with at the beginning of Shakespeare's play.

Of course, later on he totally falls for Juliet instead and forgets all about poor Rosaline, so chances are this is going to be a pretty melancholy story -- hey, that's high school romance, right?

Still, it should be interesting to see what Hollywood does with the girl Romeo describes in the play as someone so lovely that "the all-seeing sun ne'er saw her match since first the world begun" -- especially since, in the original play, their romance fails because she refuses to do it with him.

"Romeo and Juliet: The Straight Edge Version?" We can't wait to see how Hollywood handles this one.

The race to build hype for the competing "Snow White" projects is officially on, and thanks to a brand new first look photo from Entertainment Weekly, it appears Lily Collins has taken the early lead.

Collins is set to star as the fairest of them all in the as yet untitled "Snow White" project from Relativity Media (though we're guessing the words "Snow" and "White" will probably be somewhere in the title), opposite Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen. Roberts is nowhere to be seen in this new pic, but that's fine, because we can't take our eyes off of Collins anyway.

The timing of the release is especially interesting, as this "Snow White's" main competition -- the upcoming revamped version "Snow White and the Huntsman" starring "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart and "Thor's" Chris Hemsworth -- is expected to debut footage at this weekend's Comic-Con International.

But for now, at least, it's all about Collins, who says her version of Snow White is "a joyful person who lights up a room and maintains grace at all times." And after checking out this shot, we couldn't agree more.

So round one goes to "Snow White." Your move, other "Snow White."

The MTV Movie Awards fell right on the heels of the announcement that "Twilight" and "Harry Potter" actor Jamie Campbell-Bower would be playing the brooding Shadowhunter opposite Lily Collins. Even without the great notices Hemsworth's been getting in the early reviews, he's in the unusually lucky position of getting to prove himself as Thor again in th"Avengers" (currently film), whether or not the God of Thunder's solo film captures lightning in a bottle.

Summer Heat: This former model and "All My Children" superstar is finally crawling his way out of the soaps and onto the big screen with a headlining role in "Something Borrowed." In the new rom-com he plays the fiancé of Kate Hudson, the one who her best friend Ginnifer Goodwin "accidentally" sleeps with after a drunken night. Happens. Whenever you see a poster with mega-familiar faces and then catch yourself saying, "What's a 'Colin Egglesfield?'" that usually means this dude just might have the goods.

Starring In: "Bridesmaids" (May 13)
Summer Heat: This adorable star of the CBS sitcom "Mike & Molly" just might be this summer's Zach Galifianakis since she clearly plays the wild card character in "Bridesmaids." Like Zach's Alan Garner in "The Hangover," McCarthy's aggressive, belching Megan has already stolen the trailer for Judd Apatow's attempt to bring raunch to the fairer sex. Best known as Sookie St. James on "Gilmore Girls" as well as being an alumni of comedy troupe The Groundlings, she gets bonus points for being the actual cousin of Jenny McCarthy.

Starring In: "Bridesmaids" (May 13)
Summer Heat: Another stand-out of that crazy lineup of bridesmaids is Kemper, a prominent member of the New York sketch comedy scene who gained fans as Erin Hannon, the perky replacement for Pam's front desk job on "The Office." Before that Kemper managed nearly 20 million views on YouTube for the Derrick Comedy sketch "Blowjob Girl," in which she displayed a lack of finesse performing the title act on a fella. Her "Bridesmaids" character Becca looks to continue Kemper's tradition of the naïve, so-upbeat-they're-scary persona.

Starring In: "Priest" (May 13)
Summer Heat: Featured as one of our 25 Breakout Stars to Watch for in 2011, one of the best Phil Collins releases in decades is the iconic singer's 22-year-old daughter Lily. An actress-model-columnist, Collins caught us in our "Blind Side" opposite Sandra Bullock, and will star in two big productions next year, "Mortal Instruments" and "Odd Thomas." In the meantime, you can worship her in "Priest" as the title character's niece who gets kidnapped by vampires, thus causing Paul Bettany's badass man of the cloth to go all "Taken" on the bloodsuckers.

Summer Heat: This son of the late legendary rapper Biggie made a big splash in a small role playing his own father (at a young age) in 2009's "Notorious," but is now co-starring opposite a seriously B.I.G. star: Will Ferrell. In "Everything Must Go," Ferrell plays a down-on-his-luck dude who sets up camp on his lawn selling all his possessions. He befriends a young neighborhood boy named Kenny Loftus, played by the 16-year-old Wallace, in what looks to be a sympathetic, semi-serious turn for both of them.

Starring In: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 18)
Summer Heat: If you've seen some of the larger posters for "Pirates" floating around you may have noticed a striking gentleman holding a mermaid and asked yourself, "who's this chap where Orlando Bloom used to be?" That's Claflin as Phillip Swift, a young missionary who falls for a mermaid named Syrena (Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey) during his voyage with Johnny Depp's Captain Jack. Expect his career to be in full bloom, especially after just landing the part of the Prince in "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Starring In: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 18)
Summer Heat: One of the top It-girl models on planet Earth, this otherwordly Australian has been bit by the acting bug, the side effects of which appear to be her million-dollar legs turning into a fish tail. You see, Ward features in Johnny Depp's latest pirate fling as a mermaid, but perhaps not the kind with a seashell bra that sings "Part of Your World." These mermaids are more of the "seduce men then drag them to their deaths at the bottom of the ocean" variety. Sexy.

Starring In: "The Hangover Part II" (May 26)
Summer Heat: What the hell has the Wolfpack done with Ang Lee's son? This "Hangover" features Stu getting married, and after another wild night with the boys in Bangkok, he loses his fiancé's little bro Teddy, played by Mason Lee. Mason made his film debut as a toddler in papa Ang's 1993 classic "The Wedding Banquet," but this is his first high-profile gig. If his fate is anything like Justin Bartha's in the original, it might not equal a lot of screentime, but it doesn't hurt to have the entire plot revolve around finding your character, which could also prove an excellent audition if they decide to make a "Where's Waldo" movie.

Michael Fassbender

Starring In: "X-Men: First Class" (June 3)
Summer Heat: We always thought Fassbender had a magnetic personality, but this is ridic. After taking on Persians ("300") and Nazis ("Inglourious Basterds"), the German-Irish actor with some of the leading-est leading man looks in the biz is moving forward to the '60s where he'll take on a new enemy: prejudice against mutants. Also, Cubans and Kevin Bacon. Unlike those other two hit films, we have an inkling his character Magneto might just survive this ordeal in prequel country. With Fassbender as the raging yang to James McAvoy's yin, Erik and Professor X are not yet enemies, so expect great chemistry and an X-tra nice new trilogy if all goes well.

Starring In: "Super 8" (June 10)
Summer Heat: In a summer deluged with sequels and comics adaptations, leave it to filmdom's own P.T. Barnum, J.J. Abrams, to add the spice of mystery to the mix with "Super 8." Despite some extended footage screened for reporters, the film and its central creature or force is still shrouded in C.I.A.-level confidentiality. Equally unknown is 15-year-old lead actor Courtney, who makes his film debut as the heroic leader of a team of 1970s kids making an amateur zombie film in Ohio when all hell breaks loose as a… something or other… unleashes chaos.

Starring In: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (Jul. 1)
Summer Heat: Is it even possible to follow-up the crazy-hot force of nature that is Megan Fox? How about with FHM's "World's Sexiest Woman?" Okay, no complaints. Between babes and cars, incendiary filmmaker Michael Bay knows curves, which Rosie has definitely got, but can the Victoria's Secret model act? Since we know the "Transformers" formula by now (robots, explosions, Shia), it's fair to say this ain't exactly an Ibsen play, so we'll leave it to the next director to mine those talents after all the hoopla over the rock 'em sock 'em battlebot trilogy ends.

Starring In: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" (Jul. 15)
Summer Heat: Hogwarts most gifted young Herbologist, Neville Longbottom, has been played quietly sublime by Lewis for the entire decade-long run of "Harry Potter" in cinemas. For the final chapter, Lewis will finally get his chance to shine as an integral part of the battle between Good and He Whose Name Must Not Be Spoken. He'll reform Dumbledore's army, take care of the last Horcrux, and… hey, we're not telling.

Hayley Atwell

Starring In: "Captain America: The First Avenger" (Jul. 22)
Summer Heat: This doll-faced Brit has been making our heart skip several beats as a corset queen in chamber pieces like "The Duchess" and "Brideshead Revisited." Now Atwell will finally see how we do things America-style as Cap's WWII babe-in-arms Peggy Carter, and by "arms" we mean that girl knows her way around a pistol. In the original Stan Lee/Jack Kirby comics Captain America was always moping around in present-day regretting the loss of Carter, and with Atwell in the role that emotion shouldn't be too hard to muster for star Chris Evans.

Starring In: "Conan the Barbarian" (Aug. 19)
Summer Heat: We knew Momoa had the whole "ripped and grim" thing down pat from production stills, but with the brand-spanking new trailer we can finally see him in action as Robert E. Howard's deadly Cimmerian. One word: DAMN. Whether you think the movie itself looks like a rollicking sword and sorcery adventure or a CG-filled heavy metal album cover come to life (we're not sure either of those are bad), Hawaiian Momoa seems poised to obliterate three-decade-old memories of Schwarzenegger in the role. As long as he crushes his enemies, sees them driven before him, and hears the lamentation of their women, we're good.

Being the fairest of all is even more impressive when it's in three dimensions.

Lily Collins has been offered the lead role in Relativity Media's currently untitled Snow White movie, a 3-D project being directed by Tarsem Singh ("The Cell"), according to Variety.

Collins (who we think is very, very fair indeed) will be joining Julia Roberts, who will be asking the Magic Mirror various questions to which she doesn't want to hear the answers as the evil Queen, and Armie Hammer, cast against type as not two but just one handsome Prince.

Collins recently stole the show as Sandra Bullock's daughter in "The Blind Side" and will next be seen in "Priest" with Paul Bettany and "Abduction" with Taylor Lautner. She'll also be playing Clary Fray in "The Mortal Instruments," which she will begin shooting right after she hangs out with a few dwarves and eats an evil apple.

So, yeah, her career's going just fine.

NOTE: Tarsem's take on the Grimm fairy tale should not be confused with the non-3-D "Snow White and the Huntsman," which will star Kristen Stewart as the first half of the title role and Charlize Theron as the evil Queen.

This inevitably very trippy fairy tale (have you seen "The Cell?") begins shooting in May and will hit theaters on June 29, 2012.

Don't be blind-sided by Lily Collins' forthcoming rise to mega-fame.

Beating out familiar faces like Emma Roberts, Kat Dennings and Portia Doubleday, Variety reports Collins is now the front-runner to co-star in the supernatural action movie "Odd Thomas."

Based on a novel by Dean Koontz, "Odd Thomas" centers on the titular character of the same name, who has the ability to see the dead and tap into his "psychic magnetism" to predict events and prevent crimes. Thomas teams up with his ghostly soulmate Stormy Llewellyn to track down and stop a potential killer nicknamed "Fungus Man."

Stephen Sommers ("The Mummy," "G.I. Joe") is set to direct Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek") as the psychic hero , with Collins taking on the female lead of Stormy.

Collins is on the rise herself -- the actress made her debut in the Oscar-nominated film "The Blind Side" and, afterward, quickly found gigs on "90210" and in this summer's blockbuster "Priest." She'll also be seen co-starring with everyone's favorite werewolf, Taylor Lautner, this fall in the thriller "Abduction" and is set to take on the role of Clary Fray, the lead in "The Mortal Instruments" book adaptations.

Not only is "Odd Thomas" a huge role for the actress, but should also be a showcase for some serious talent. The book deals with heavy themes -- Stormy, for instance, was raped and murdered -- and could be a compelling twist on the ghost story. Sommers especially will have a challenge on his hands, as "G.I. Joe" doesn't exactly scream "sensitivity."

"Odd Thomas" is set to shoot on May 2 with a release set for sometime in 2012, but we should be seeing plenty of Lily Collins before then.

Last week we asked our readers, "Which rumored role should Alex Pettyfer actually take?"

Many of you weighed in and, alas, it's pretty fair to say Pettyfer is your ideal actor to play Jace Wayland opposite Lily Collins' Clary in the film version of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments." In fact, 70 percent of you think so.

He's also not your pick to play Peeta -- only 7 percent of you are buying him as the romantic lead in "The Hunger Games" adaptations. This is probably just as well, seeing as we already pointed out the reasons why he shouldn't be Peeta.

Hopefully the lackluster box office of "I Am Number Four" hasn't tarnished his chances to play Jace, since he's "number one" in our book.

As of next year, three of America's most famous superheroes will be played by Brits: Superman (Henry Cavill), Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), and Batman (Christian Bale). No, we're not going to protest out of some misguided jingoism (although we will point out the horror with which our friends across the Atlantic responded to Renee Zellweger playing Bridget Jones once upon a time).

We don't know if it's the popularity of rigorous youth drama programs or what, but the British are invading Hollywood at a rate that rivals the arrival of the Aussies in the late '90s. Looking at the more established young slate of English talent (Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, the Harry Potter trifecta, and Robert Pattinson to name a few), we say welcome to the next gen of Bright Young Brits.

Move over Robert Pattinson, Pettyfer is the new Prince of Young Adult adaptations. Fresh off his portrayal of a sexy alien in "I Am Number Four," he's now the heavily tattooed "ugly" lead in "Beastly," opposite Vanessa Hudgens – and he's being considered for nearly every upcoming teen page-to-screen adaptation, including "City of Bones," "The Hunger Games" and "The Last Apprentice." Soon it won't just be teens and Young Adult-reading adults who know about the blond and beautiful Brit.

She's a well-born model-turned-actress, but her blue-blood pedigree matters not to the legions of "Transformers" fanboys waiting to judge her performance in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" by how closely she can approximate her predecessor Megan Fox's hotness. Subscribers to premium cable network Starz might recognize Claflin as the valiant Richard from the Golden Globe-nominated medieval miniseries "The Pillars of the Earth." Claflin traded in his 12th-century knight's armor for 19th-century attire as a handsome young missionary (think Orlando Bloom replacement) that falls -- literally -- for a beautiful mermaid in an upcoming summer swashbuckler you may have heard of, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

Aaron Johnson

In his home country, Johnson's a hardcore tabloid target for falling in love with, impregnating, and proposing to his much-older "Nowhere Boy" director, Sam Taylor-Wood, but in the rest of the world, he's best known for being one of the bad-ass young stars of "Kick Ass." The controversial blockbuster was a sleeper hit last year, and plans are underway for a sequel in 2012. In the meantime, Johnson will star opposite Glenn Close and Mia Wasikowska in Rodrigo Garcia's 19th Century Irish drama "Albert Nobbs."

Like many of her fellow Brits, Atwell popped up in costume dramas and miniseries for several years before winning the lead female role in the BBC-produced "The Pillars of the Earth." Since most Americans don't have Starz, it's safe to say her breakout performance will be in this summer's "Captain America: The First Avenger," in which she plays Peggy Carter, the patriotic hero's love interest. She's rumored to next appear in "The Great Gatsby" with Leo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan.

NextFactor: "She's going to break a million hearts." This could be the year the prophecy comes true when the ethereal actress flashes those doe-eyes, a piece, and a samurai sword in Zack Snyder's berzerker action-fantasy hybrid, "Sucker Punch."

Next Factor: After winning heaps of praise in 2008 for the lead role in Holocaust drama "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas," this lad of only 13 years has landed the second plum role of his career, the title character in Martin Scorsese's "Hugo Cabret." Based on the stellar young adult novel by Brian Selznick, the movie blends magic, mystery, and real-life cinema history, and will showcase Butterfield in 3-D.

Next Factor: This Taiwanese music superstar is so lauded in Asia that a special denotation ("Chou Style") was created for his brand of cross-genre pop. Now he is poised for international film superstardom playing Kato, the flashy sidekick to Seth Rogen's Green Hornet. Early indications suggest Chou's quiet-cool and martial-arts prowess steals the show, living up to the previous incarnation of Kato played by a little guy called BRUCE-FRICKIN'-LEE! Ka-Pow!

Starring In: "Suckerpunch" (March 25), "The Hangover Part II" (May 26) 

Next Factor: Former resident of MTV's "Real World: San Diego," Miss Chung is going to double your pleasure, double your fun with two minty-fresh blockbusters in a row (but not a sorority row). First up we'll see her kicking all sorts of android/dragon/zombie/giant samurai butt alongside Emily Browning in "Sucker Punch," then she'll sleaze it up with the wolfpack as Stu's fiancé in "Hangover II." This superstar-to-be already has action-packed "Premium Rush" in 2012.

Next Factor: There's no jacket required to love the 21-year-old daughter of Genesis front man Phil Collins, who came into our line of scrimmage as Sandra Bullock's daughter in "The Blind Side." She'll pull double-duty opposite Paul Bettany's vampire slaying "Priest," and will be there when Taylor Lautner gets abducted (not by vampires). And there are even bigger things to come: She's also landed the lead character of Clara Fray in the 2012 "Mortal Instruments" book adaptation.

Starring In: "Just Go With It" (Feb. 11) 

Next Factor: This Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover girl and Esquire's 2010 "Sexiest Woman Alive" has been seeking to simultaneously conquer the worlds of both entertainment and hotness, and is doing a damn good job. After a few odd TV gigs, she's landed a key role in the Adam Sandler farce "Just Got With It," and then in 2012 she'll be screaming "You sunk my Battleship!" in theaters everywhere.

Starring In: "Red Riding Hood" (March 11), "Skateland" (Jan. 25) 

Next Factor: One of the original contenders to play Edward Cullen, Fernandez will get a second shot to recreate gothic folklore with "Twilight" helmer Catherine Hardwicke as the male love interest to Amanda Seyfried in "Red Riding Hood." The model-turned-actor will also get to spread his indie wings as a Texan riding the disaffected teenage confusion train in "Skateland."

Starring In: "Season of the Witch" (Jan. 7) 

Next Factor: Though the movie itself is pure camp silliness, Miss Foy emerges from "Season"'s B-movie forest unscathed, bringing far more intrigue and nuance than her seasoned co-stars, or Nicolas Cage's hairpiece. Starring In: "Fright Night" (Aug. 19) 

Next Factor: If his famous bro James is the modern-day James Dean, then Dave has inherited the looks of Montgomery Clift. What was going on in that womb? Dave has had notable bit parts in "Milk" and "Greenberg" but may step out of his brother's shadow in the remake of "Fright Night" opposite Colin Farrell. As scary as it may be, it can't be any scarier than these acting tutorials.

Starring In: "No Strings Attached" (Jan. 21), "Arthur" (April 8th) 

Next Factor: This former darling of the low-budget mumblecore scene blipped onto the radar last year for her sweet turn opposite Ben Stiller in "Greenberg." Now she'll parlay that easy charm into studio big-time as the token best friend in "No Strings Attached" and Liza Minnelli's role in the "Arthur" remake with badboy Russell Brand. If she follows in Minnelli's footsteps with a one-woman-show called "Greta!" then we'll start to worry.

Starring In: "Thor" (May 6), "Red Dawn" (TBA) 

Next Factor: This slab of Melbourne beefcake appeared briefly as the poppa of James T. Kirk during the opening of 2009's "Star Trek." Now he'll embody The God of Thunder himself as the eponymous "Thor," dishing out justice with his mighty hammer Mjöllnir, and continue Thor's reign of superhumanness into Marvel's 2012 "The Avengers." Somewhere in there he managed to shoot both "Cabin in the Woods" and the "Red Dawn" remake for ailing MGM, which has yet to set release dates for either. Boo.

Starring In: "X-Men: First Class" (June 3) 

Next Factor: We still remember him from "About a Boy" as the precocious 12-year-old opposite caddish Hugh Grant (is there any other kind of Hugh Grant?), yet Hoult is growing up fast and winning raves in films like "A Single Man." Now he'll get to flex his furry blue muscles as Beast in the latest "X-Men" spin-off. Our sympathies to Kelsey Grammer.

Starring In: "Footloose" (Oct. 14) 

Next Factor: Any country music star who appears in a Snoop Dogg video, a Juicy Fruit commercial, and dates Ryan Seacrest is just asking for trouble, but since appearing in "Burlesque" last year Hough is looking to champion all media. The first high-profile role on her dance card is Craig Brewer's remake of "Footloose," so if all else fails she'll at least be one degree closer to Kevin Bacon.

Starring In: "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" (July 1) 

Next Factor: Ooh la la! Rosie will put the color back in anyone's cheeks. When Michael Bay needed to prove how replaceable Megan Fox was to the "Transformers" franchise, he nabbed this lingerie model with no acting experience to play Shia's love object… er, interest in the battlebot threequel. She must have had a very impressive audition to win the role, but only Victoria knows her secret. (*wink*) 

Jeremy Irvine

Starring In: "War Horse" (Dec. 28) 

Next Factor: Irvine came out of nowhere (well, a UK Disney Channel show) to take the reins of Steven Spielberg's "War Horse," a World War I adventure tale in which he plays the lead of a young boy who enlists in order to find his pal Joey, the title horse. Aside from noted Brit thesps (Emily Watson, David Thewlis), Irvine is carrying a flick from the biggest director in the world; someone has some major faith in this kid.

Starring In: "X-Men: First Class" (June 3) 

Next Factor: The multi-talented progeny of Lenny Kravitz & Lisa Bonet (She can siiiiiiiiiing! She can aaaaaaaact!) has been making big moves in the indie world since bursting onto the scene in 2007. Now she's letting her freak-flag fly as acid-spitting winged insectoid mutant Angel Salvadore for the much-anticipated "X-Men" prequel. If all goes well she'll hop right into shooting the delayed "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Starring In: "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (Dec. 21) 

Next Factor: This sharp 25-year-old beat out some of the top names in Hollywood for what might seriously be the most sought-after female role since Scarlett O'Hara: Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher's English-language remake of "Dragon Tattoo." It helped that she dominates every scene she had as straight-talking Erica Albright in Fincher's "Social Network," and we look forward to seeing her ride motorcycles, hack computers and solve crimes, i.e. "livin' the dream."

Starring In: "Fast Five" (April 29) 

Next Factor: Having just married Chris Hemsworth, does that make this Spanish actress a goddess by default? Elsa doesn't actually need any assist from Thor to fit that bill, as her beauty has been scorching international audiences for over a decade, and now her career will get a Diesel injection when she co-stars in the latest "Fast and Furious." Still too early to tell if she'll be around when they get to "Fast Fifteen" in 2025. 

Alex Pettyfer

Starring In: "I Am Number Four" (Feb. 18), "Beastly" (March 18), "Now" (Sept. 30) 

Next Factor: Pulling triple-duty this year is blonde teen-idol in-the-making Pettyfer, whose lead role in the Spielberg-produced sci-fi action-adventure "I Am Number Four" could make this chiseled actor/model number one with the ladies. He'll also learn to be pretty on the inside with Vanessa Hudgeons in "Beastly," and then stops aging completely for the sci-fi thriller "Now." 

Noomi Rapace

Starring In: "Sherlock Holmes 2" (Dec. 16) 

Next Factor: Rooney Mara may get to play Salander in English, but this Swedish babe has already made that dragon tattoo her own in the original versions seen round-the-world. Rapace will run from many-an-explosion as a French Gypsy in the second of Robert Downey Jr.'s adrenaline-injected turns as Holmes, her first foray into Hollywood. If her continental English accent is as sexy as she is, we're in for a treat. 

BooBoo Stewart

Starring In: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1" (Nov. 18) 

Next Factor: Although he only had a minor role in "Eclipse," Stewart's character Seth Clearwater becomes integral in the two-part "Twilight Saga" finale "Breaking Dawn" as both Jacob's second-in-command and an unlikely werewolf ally to Bella and Edward. That's good news for the 16-year-old actor/wrestler/singer/dancer/model. Team Clearwater, anyone?

Starring In: "Scream 4" (April 15), "Prom" (April 29) 

Next Factor: Best known as Julie on "Friday Night Lights," Teegarden will be stalked and slashed by Ghostface in Wes Craven's 4th trip into post-modern meta-horror. She'll then take a (hopefully) more bloodless trip to Disney's "Prom" where she will no doubt learn life lessons about love, maturity, and limo rentals.

Starring In: "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" (May 20) 

Next Factor: Part of the wave of elfin, baby-doll featured models to hit runways in recent years, she was last seen as one of the three masked weirdos in "The Strangers," appropriately named "Dollface." She'll mince it up with Captain Jack in his latest pirate jaunt, playing a mermaid named Tamara. Whatever gets her closer to playing a Gelfling in a "Dark Crystal" sequel is fine by us. 

Kenny Wormald

Starring In: "Footloose" (Oct. 14) 

Next Factor: "Wormald" definitely wins the "least likely superstar name" award. You have to wonder if his agents ever encouraged him to change it… But we digress. Wormald will step out into the lead in "Footloose," which he won after both Zac Efron and Chace Crawford bowed out. This professional dancer is gonna bring some pizzazz to a Tennessee town that don't like dancin', but don't forget, Kenny… JAZZHANDS!

The "Mortal Instruments" cast is finally being conjured!

Fans of Cassandra Clare's series of dark fantasy novels are certainly feeling the magic today, as Deadline reports that Lily Collins has been cast in the lead role of Clarissa 'Clary' Fray, a teenager who finds her life a little less mundane after she witnesses a bizarre murder at a New York City club.

Collins will be playing the role in the first installment of the series, "City of Bones," and it's a safe bet that she'll continue through the screen adaptations of the next three books: "City of Ashes," "City of Glass" and the yet-to-be-released "City of Fallen Angels" (which will be published in April 2011).

"The Mortal Instruments," which explores the thin line between the everyday world of human beings ("mundanes") and a hidden world of magic and monsters (and the various conflicts therein) is a top contender as an heir to the magical franchise throne currently occupied by "Harry Potter" and "Twilight."

Lily Collins being cast as Clary means they're one step closer to actually filming "City of Bones." Scott Charles Stewart ("Priest," "Legion") is directing the film, and he certainly has our permission to start, well, immediately.

Now, who will be cast as Jace Wayland, the young lad who introduces Clary to the world she never knew existed -- and to which she is mysteriously linked? Wait and see how the magic continues!
