Well this was certainly inevitable… DELICIOUSLY INEVITABLE, that is.
Kevin Bacon, actor, musician, and subject of annoying party games in basements all over the world, has been immortalized in a portrait made entirely out of rich, succulent bacon. Get More »
Not all great cinema stars have the most auspicious beginnings to their lives in celluloid. Some start in commercials, TV, bit parts, background work. Hell, a few even dabble in porn (we're looking at you, Sylvester Stallone).
Ground zero for acting talent, more often than not, is the horror genre. This being Halloween season, we decided to highlight a few mega-talents who jumpstarted their careers in much the same way they entered the world: naked, screaming and covered in blood. Get More »
Now you can play everyone's favorite party game ... without using your brain.
Well, sort of. In another example of how a computer is only as smart as its creator (or something), the new Google search tool that allows you to calculate any actor's "Bacon Number" — the number of degrees he or she is removed from a Kevin Bacon movie — doesn't (yet) beat good old-fashioned human memory. What does it take to get people to a play these days? How about George Clooney, Kevin Bacon, Jamie Lee Curtis, Martin Sheen, John C. Reilly, and a promising theatrical newcomer named Brad Pitt.
All these celebs came out in force to participate in a live benefit reading/YouTube broadcast of Academy Award-winning "Milk" screenwriter Dustin Lance Black's play "8," based on California's monumental Perry v. Schwarzenegger trial, which ruled the same-sex marriage-banning bill Proposition 8 unconstitutional in February of this year.
The reading was directed by filmmaker/noted political activist/one-time "Meathead" Rob Reiner, no stranger to charged courtroom drama after "A Few Good Men" and "Ghosts of Mississippi," who is also planning a documentary about Prop 8. Get More »
Let's all be adults; this is not a puerile discussion of the male member. We're merely noting that throughout history, while paintings and sculptures have depicted the nude male body with regularity, film has a limited number of offerings (not counting the XXX variety, of course), whereas leading ladies (even Oscar-winning ones) drop cover again and again.
Michael Fassbender, however, has no qualms about showing what God gave him. In Steve McQueen's new drama "Shame," Fassbender plays a sex addict who's in the buff so often his body is naked nearly as often as its clothed. In honor of Fassbender's courage to reveal everything, we're celebrating the movies -- and actors -- who've dared to go full frontal. Get More »
Ever wonder what the original star of "Footloose" thinks of the reboot? (We're talking about Kevin Bacon, in case you've managed to still be unfamiliar with the '84 classic.)
Well, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, wonder no more. In one word, he thinks it "rocked."
Bacon — who apparently caught the early bird special with a 12:10pm screening in Boston on Sunday — posted a snapshot of his ticket stub on WhoSay, along with some congrats and positive reinforcement for the mostly newcomers in the cast. Get More »
Every generation has a story about rebellious teens who rise up and challenge the oppressive adults threatening to extinguish their youthful fun. Not surprisingly, the Reagan Era had more of these movies than most, and 1984's "Footloose" was the most contagious of them all, with its energetic, hits-filled soundtrack featuring the maddeningly catchy title song by Kenny Loggins.
Kevin Bacon stars as Ren McCormack, a Chicago teen who moves with his mother to the small town of Bomont in what appears to be Utah, where the film was shot. Bomont is a repressed Christian community under the influence of Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), a rousing orator who has convinced his congregation that rock music is the Devil's work and that dancing should remain banned in Bomont. Kevin Bacon as the bad guy? We always like it -- and more Bacon-villainy is on the way!
The "X-Men: First Class" star will once again turn to the dark side as he signs on to play the primary antagonist in the horror comedy, "R.I.P.D.," according to Variety.
"R.I.P.D." tells the story of a cop killed in the line of duty who is recruited by a team of undead police officers working for the Rest in Peace Department. He then tries to find the man who murdered him. Get More »
It was a celebration of the swinging '60s. Mod dancers (on boxes!), vintage cars (for the stars!) and a live jazz band that never took a break set the stage for the New York premiere of "X Men: First Class."
A-list cast members including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Lucas Till, Kevin Bacon and Zoe Kravitz pulled up to the scene in Cold-War-era rides, looking hot to trot.
And with good reason, "X Men: First Class" is certainly one of the most highly anticipated flicks this summer — and, from the looks of the scene tonight, it won't disappoint. Get More »
Michael Fassbender, January Jones, Lucas Till, James McAvoy, Zoe Kravitz, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne: Sure, they're the stars of "X-Men: First Class," but the seven stunning stars also make the perfect red carpet lineup.
Arriving in sweet vintage cars, they brought the pretty to New York City's Ziegfeld Theater. See for yourself.
