'Black Rock' Trailer Makes Argument For Staying Home
LD Entertainment
'cause there are crazy people out there. And because the trailer shows you the entire movie anyway.
The art of the movie trailer continues to elude Hollywood as the first look at director Katie Aselton's wilderness thriller makes for yet another preview that gives away several major plot points and strongly hints at certain character deaths. Get More »
Casting Roundup: Teller, Bosworth and Affleck Get the Gigs
Getty Images
All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...
• We wouldn't mind getting snowed in with this trio! The Hollywood Reporter calls for stormy weather as "Project X" star Miles Teller will star opposite Analeigh Tipton and Jessica Szohr in "Two Night Stand," a romantic indie that centers on a pair of twentysomething strangers who awaken after an ill-advised one-night stand to find themselves snowed in by a blizzard that’s put all of Manhattan on ice.
• After playing a victim in "Straw Dogs," Kate Bosworth is looking to be the rabble-rouser this time around. Heat Vision reports that the "Blue Crush" beauty will be playing James Franco's revenge-minded (and meth-addicted) sister in "Homefront," the action thriller starring Jason Statham and written by Sylvester Stallone. Ranking the Women Behind Superheroes
Girlfriends. Gal pals. Sidekicks. Whatever you call them, superheroes just wouldn't be able to rise to their full powers without a love interest — and usually a healthy dose of some smoldering on-screen sexuality.
So whether it's the famous upside down kiss between Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man and girlfriend Kirsten Dunst or Gwyneth Paltrow's slinky skirts and witty banter with Iron Man Robert Downey, Jr., the chemistry between a superhero and his civilian paramour is usually an integral part of the story. June Is Filled With 'Magic' Men and More
I have to admit that I kept a low profile this June here in "fan girl" world, although looking back on the celebrities I met, maybe it wasn't too shabby after all.
Earlier in the month was the Council of Fashion Designers in America Awards held at the Alice Tully Theater at Lincoln Center, which is often referred to as the Oscars of Fashion. The event was hosted by Seth Meyers and included quite the guest list, including Matt Bomer, Jessica Chastain, Kate Bosworth and Julianne Hough – all of whom I had the pleasure of meeting that night.
With "Magic Mike" and "The Amazing Spider-Man" hitting theaters, the end of the month was an exciting time for me. I've been travelling all over the city trying to meet the likes of Emma Stone, Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello. How'd it go? Well, read on! Get More »
Kat Coiro to Direct 'Here Lies Bridget' Adaptation
What a difference a year makes!
Back in January, Paige Harbison's debut novel, "Here Lies Bridget," hit bookshelves. (She was only 20-years-old at the time.) In October, it was acquired for the big screen. And now, NextMovie has learned that it has landed a director.
Hey, Hollywood knows a good thing when it sees it.
Kat Coiro, who helmed the Kate Bosworth starrers "L!fe Happens" and "While We Were Here" (out in 2012), has signed on to direct the film adaptation of "Here Lies Bridget." (Unfortunately, Bosworth might be a little too old to play the titular role in this one.) Get More »
Chloe Moretz and Keanu Reeves Do 'Taxi Driver'
We're not sure about Keanu Reeves as Robert De Niro. But Chloe Moretz makes for a scarily spot-on Jodie Foster.
Reeves and the young "Hugo" star are just two of several actors who took part in Harper Bazaar's "The Age of Scorsese" photo shoot, which features several recreations from classic Scorsese productions.
Don't get too freaked out -- Chloe is actually just about the same age that Jodie Foster was when she played the angelic prostitute in "Taxi Driver." And she's never actually seen Scorsese's influential 1976 New York drama, because "My mom won't let me." Get More »
Kiefer Sutherland and Kate Bosworth to Tell 'Fairytale in New York'
The only thing more magical than the black tie galas, prestigious film screenings and the star-studded red carpet events that are currently occupying the French town of Cannes, is the dealmaking for the future. Pairing stars for neatly-packaged projects meant to whet the appetite of potential buyers -- it's like a week long cocktail party where movies are the appetizers.
The latest cinematic hors d'oeuvre of interest is as romantic a concept as the Cannes Film Festival itself: Kiefer Sutherland and Kate Bosworth will play two sides of a budding couple in "Fairytale in New York," which Hollywood Reporter explains is looking for a buyer at the fest. Get More »
'Straw Dogs' Trailer Gives New Meaning To Crazy Love
James Marsden is about to unleash a metaphorical Kraken on Alexander Skarsgard. And it's about time.
The pretty boy actor from such squeeky-clean pics as "Enchanted" and "The Notebook" is finally getting violent in the trailer for his latest film, "Straw Dogs," which premiered on Yahoo! Movies.
The film, an updated version of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 meditation on violence, follows Marsden's David and his wife Amy (Kate Bosworth) as they relocate to her hometown in the deep South. They soon begin to face harassment from the local population, particularly from leader-of-the-pack Charlie ("True Blood"'s Skarsgard). Get More »
One of These Hot Ladies May Be In the 'Total Recall' Remake
The remake of "Total Recall" has been chugging along so quietly that you might have forgotten it was even happening.
But it's still on, and set to be directed by Len Wiseman. Colin Farrell is starring as Douglas Quaid, who was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the original. (How would you like to try and fill those shoes?)
But "Total Recall" needs women. In fact, it needs two of them. Get More »
Hallelujah, It's Raining Ninjas in 'The Warrior's Way' Trailer
"Ninjas. Damn."
That's pretty much our reaction to the new trailer for the upcoming Western-featuring-ninjas "The Warrior's Way," which stars South Korean action legend Jang Dong-gun as a swordmaster who flees to the American Old West to escape his past -- and a horde of murdering ninjas.
Sounds pretty awesome, right? Well, get this: In the trailer that premiered on Apple, that quote we led off with is actually spoken by none other than Geoffrey Rush, who follows up on his recent turn as Barbossa in "Pirates of the Caribbean" with this role as Jang's gunslinging sidekick.
