There's some big magic in the Big Easy!

Alice Englert, Alden Ehrenreich, Emma Thompson and Emmy Rossum lay on the supernatural Southern melodrama in "Beautiful Creatures," the lush-looking adaptation of the fantasy novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl that follows two teens who uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town.

The first trailer doesn't go into too many details of the plot, though it's certainly got atmosphere to spare — thankfully, the film seems like it actually takes place in the deep South (and not on a soundstage or, you know, in Toronto). We also get some early glimpses at some of the story's major players, including our heroine Lena Duchannes (Englert), our hero Ethan Wate (Ehrenreich), the villainous and mischievous Ridley (Rossum) and the rabble-rousing Mrs. Lincoln (Thompson, already chewing the scenery).

Plus, you've got to love that final shot. Why writhe in supernatural teen angst when you can just make out?

Warner Bros. is looking to strike "Twilight"-sized gold with this series, the first of a four-book arc called the Caster Chronicles. It looks like a cinematic class act so far, a Southern Gothic that's actually worthy of such a description.

Check out the trailer below or watch it in HD at iTunes Movie Trailers. "Beautiful Creatures" opens Feb. 13, 2013.

Not to get all English teacher on you, but words are important. Words have power, especially when used by the right person in the right way.

And for our money, there are very few words that have power quite like these: A hot new movie trailer starring Bradley Cooper has just hit the itnernet.

And we've got it for you right here. Are you ready for the power of "The Words?"

Here's the premise: Cooper plays a struggling writer (is there any other kind in the movies?) who just can't seem to catch a break. Then, he catches a break when he finds an old manuscript that's, like, totally better than anything he's ever written himself. So naturally he publishes it and gets rich and famous. Sweet deal, right?

Well, not if the original author is still alive and kicking and played by Jeremy Irons. Then you're in a whole world of crap. Check it out, courtesy of Yahoo! Movies and find out if there are any words powerful enough for Cooper to erase that kind of mistake:

You wish Jeremy Irons was your uncle.

The "Margin Call" star is ready to join the mystery of "Beautiful Creatures" as he's signed on for the key role of Macon Ravenwood, according to Heat Vision.

"Beautiful Creatures" is based on the first book of a trilogy by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and tells the tale of Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) and Ethan Wate (Jack O'Connell), two teenagers who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town. Macon Ravenwood (Irons) is Lena's mysterious and reclusive uncle who's probably keeping a secret or two.

Jeremy Irons joins a cast that includes Viola Davis as Amma, a "seer" and surrogate mother to Ethan; Emma Thompson in a dual role as Mrs. Lincoln, the town's resident religious zealot, and Sarafine, the dark witch who possesses her; and Emmy Rossum as Ridley, a lollipop-wielding teenage witch who harbors a grudge against Lena.

Irons can currently be seen as the lusty Rodrigo Borgia on the Showtime series, "The Borgias," and is currently filming a two-part TV movie based on Shakespeare's "Henry IV." He'll be seen later this year in "The Words," co-starring Bradley Cooper, Olivia Wilde, Zoe Saldana and Dennis Quaid.

Production on "Beautiful Creatures" commences in April in New Orleans under the direction of Richard LaGravenese ("P.S. I Love You"), who also adapted the screenplay. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 1, 2013.

You know those movies where people sit in a boardroom and just talk and talk and talk? An enclosed space full of motivated motormouths can sometimes be a trial to follow, even when its filled to the brim with world-class actors like Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto and Demi Moore as in last year's lauded Wall Street crisis indie "Margin Call."

The pressure-cooker drama took place over 36-hours at a powerhouse investment bank loosely based on Lehman Brothers and, in a crucial scene, a meeting is called with the top brass including CEO John Tuld (Irons). During the meeting Tuld reveals his risky plan to unload the company's toxic assets, but in "Margin Call - Boardroom Scene Awkward Recut" that's not so much the case.

The new YouTube video by Worm In Your Apple takes the talky confrontation and turns it into the most tense prolonged silence in movie history. Stripped entirely of its dialogue, the 5-minute scene becomes a hodgepdoge of glances, throat clearings, and semi-audible cell phone rings. It only gets funnier as it goes on, so strap in and watch as no one dares disturb the sound of silence. (Apologies to Simon & Garfunkel.)

Hollywood always loves a good murder mystery, so it's no wonder that they've put together a new film about one of the most grisly murders of all: How Wall Street killed the world economy.

And now you can check out the results thanks to the new "Margin Call" trailer, which features an all-star cast and which dramatizes the decisions that led to the current worldwide recession. Here's hoping the cineplex concession stand takes food stamps.

Set on one fateful day in October, 2008, "Margin Call" features Stanley Tucci as an analyst who is abruptly fired while working on a secret project that could topple his company. Before he goes, though, he clues in Zachary Quinto ("Star Trek"). And then he calls his friends (Kevin Spacey) and he calls his friends (Simon Baker and Demi Moore) and they call their friends (Paul Bettany and Jeremy Irons) and pretty soon (SPOILERS!) your bank account just got flushed into the ocean.

Here's the trailer, courtesy of Empire. And be careful with your money. Because entertainment like this may be the only safe investment we have left.

Cannes is popping, and not just with sweaty journalists from around the world elbowing each other to get into the buzzed-about flick du jour. Nope, tons of news about upcoming movies is floating around La Croisette as well. Buy low! Sell high! Drink that champagne!

Anyway, mes amis, one film peeps are already making the rounds to snap up and hasn't even filmed yet. Bradley Cooper has been attached to star in "The Words" since February, with dreamy/fancy/scary Jeremy Irons circling the project. Now it looks like "The Words," which is about "a successful writer who discovers he has to pay a price for stealing another man's work," according to Variety, is adding the gorgeous Zoe Saldana and Dennis Quaid to its cast.

What kind of price has a plagiarist gotta pay when he's caught with his hand in the cookie jar? As The Playlist points out, with the writers of "Tron: Legacy" on board to direct, chances are it will have some sort of "genre" flavor to it.

Of course, Irons has been known to do impeccable drama as well as genre with the best of 'em (think art house body horror "Dead Ringers," "Die Hard: With a Vengeance," and the sexy Showtime series "The Borgias"), and Cooper is quickly proving his talents are "Limitless" in the eyes of Hollywood producers.

Saldana is one of the coolest actresses out there, with "Avatar" and "Star Trek" under her belt and the starring role in upcoming actioner "Colombiana" and more "Star Trek" coming up. Quaid most recently starred in "Soul Surfer," the feel-good flick based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a surfer who refuses to let a little shark bite get her down.

Although Cooper and Saldana already have plenty on their plates, we're guessing "The Words" will start writing themselves ASAP.

Two years after "The Hangover" made him a household name, Bradley Cooper is more in-demand than ever.

In just a few weeks, the "A-Team" star will be back on the big screen alongside Robert Di Niro in "Limitless" and then reprises his role as Phil Wenneck in May's "The Hangover 2." Today, Variety has word that the busy actor has signed on to star in a drama called "The Words."

"TRON: Legacy" writers Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal have portaled out of the Game Grid to make their directorial debut with the film. Their screenplay centers around a writer who discovers the price he must pay for stealing another man's work at the peak of his success.

Cooper is certainly no stranger to someone at the peak of their success and has often demonstrated a knack for playing flawed characters, so the role of a plagiarist who apparently gets his come-uppance appears to be right up the actor's alley.

It is entirely possible the man who will make sure Cooper's character faces the consequences of his actions will be Jeremy Irons – the actor is currently in talks to co-star in the film, which at one point was on Hollywood's "Black List" of unproduced screenplays.

No matter what Irons may have in store, we know Cooper will make it through the ordeal and that every cloud will have a silver lining – literally. The busy leading man is already set to go to work for director David O. Russell in his "Fighter" follow up, "The Silver Linings Playbook."
