More likely than not, you know Zach Gilford best as Matt Saracen from "Friday Night Lights."
But, when he's not wearing a football uniform – or hospital scrubs, as the case has been on his subsequent television shows, "Off the Map" and this season's "Mob Doctor" – you might just find him in the woods. The 30-year-old actor considers himself an outdoorsman, spending his free time hiking, camping and the like, which worked out perfectly for his latest foray onto the big screen, "In Our Nature."
The movie follows Gilford's Seth and his girlfriend Andie (Jena Malone) as they head to Seth's "cabin" in upstate New York. Little do they know that Seth's somewhat estranged father ("Mad Men"'s John Slattery) and his city mouse girlfriend (Gabrielle Union) have similar plans. Needless to say, significant awkwardness ensues.
Thankfully, Gilford was able to flex some of those outdoor muscles in the film and shared with us some of the real-life family dramas (or comedies, rather) that shaped his performance. And, yeah, we may have talked about "Friday Night Lights" a bit. Get More »
If you're like us, you love the holiday season, but kinda wish you could spend it in Dillon, Texas, with the Taylor family.
Actually, this year, you almost can. Coach himself, Kyle Chandler, stars in "Argo" and "Zero Dark Thirty," while Mrs. Coach Connie Britton graces the big screen in "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas." As for the young-uns, you've probably already caught Tyra Collette (Adrianne Palicki) in theaters in "Red Dawn" and might want to make a date to see Matt Saracen (Zach Gilford) in "In Our Nature" this month.
In fact, why wait to get a good look at them? We figured it was time to pay homage to the (incredibly attractive) cast of "Friday Night Lights" as they're about to see their names in lights for real. And, thus, we were inspired to create this gallery of the "Friday Night Lights" gang in movies, past, present and future. We urge you to click through with clear eyes and full hearts.
Way back at this year's SXSW Festival in March, there was a little indie film called "In Our Nature" which had critics and audiences buzzing. This being the movie business, though, all of that buzz led to months of deal making and distribution setup and hemming and hawing and this and that and whatever. But no actual movie in theaters for you to see.
Well, that is finally about to change, as "In Our Nature" is at last set to arrive next month. And what better way to celebrate than by releasing a new trailer? Get More »
Families: They can get pretty messed up. Luckily, however, we have indie cinema to help us sort through all the complex feelings and twisty emotions that families can generate — and if the new trailer for "In Our Nature" is any indication, family dramas have never quite been this dramatic before.
Why spend big bucks for a therapist when you can go to the theater instead? Get More »
