Benedict Cumberbatch and Imogen Poots: Let's make that celebrity couple happen. Please?

Does anybody remember laughter? Laughter, in conjunction with beautiful people holding hands and smiling on red carpets?

In a world where Brangelina, Bennifer, Bennifer 2 and TomKat (sorry, Suri, have a cupcake) have all been earnestly embraced by the media and public at large, we have but one whole-hearted plea: just let us have some fun again. There's nothing wrong with being obsessed with celebrity couples (we are, totally), but you know what else is totally allowed? Laughter.

On that note, please consider throwing your support behind CumberPoots. Or, for the uneducated, Benedict Cumberbatch and Imogen Poots.

Yes, their courtship may be unlikely — Poots, 23, has never worked with the 36-year-old Cumberbatch, and we're unsure whether they've even met — but they have so much working in their favor. They share a motherland — England! — and equally silly, oh-so-British names. The only things more British than Benedict Cumberbatch and Imogen Poots, we'd argue, are possibly Harry Potter and the Queen herself.

Imagine what a hilariously named power couple they would be: Poots, best known for roles in "28 Weeks Later," "Jane Eyre" and "Fright Night," is a rising movie star, gaining notoriety seemingly by the day. And it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous — Poots was the face of Chloe's fragrance campaign. Cumberbatch isn't a slouch in the face department, either, as his thousands of Tumblr Cumbergroupies (Cumberbitches?) will attest. Well-known for playing the lead in the BBC's Sherlock Holmes reboot, and for his performances in "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and "War Horse," Cumberbatch is next slated to appear as the villain in the highly anticipated sci-fi sequel "Star Trek: Into Darkness."

They each have rabid fan bases, which we're sure would support the pairing and come together to cackle gleefully with us while composing endless #cumberpoots tweets.

Just think:

• They would give us an excuse to use the word "snog" without looking like silly wannabes.
• They could recite Shakespeare together.
• Imagine the paparazzi snaps when they go to Wimbledon together!
• Maybe Will and Kate would be up for a double date?
• They could have a meta-winky cameo in the next James Bond movie.
• Their combined star power could launch a Harry Potter spin-off: "Hogwarts: The Golden Years."
• Their first date could be over a cup of tea and crumpets. Second date: Pimm's cup. Once things get cozier: Sunday mornings in, discussing "Downton Abbey." (With tea. Crumpets optional.)

And let's not lose track of the most important and awesome thing that would happen if Benedict Cumberbatch and Imogen Poots got together: CUMBERPOOTS.

Just remember: the sun never sets on the CumberPoots empire. To make extra-sure of that, sign our petition, a plea for CumberPoots.

Imogen Poots may just be the fifth wheel of "A Late Quartet."

In the film, starring such Hollywood heavyweights as Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener, Poots manages to stand out as Alexandra, a promising young violinist who begins a relationship with her teacher, played by Mark Ivanir, who just so happens to be a member of her parent's quartet that is falling apart. Juicy!

What kind of preparation and violin training did you have in order to make your playing so believable?
I had a couple of months prior to shooting where I had one on one instruction with an incredible violinist, she was from Julliard and was I think 24 years old. It was really a matter of getting down the foundation of the instrument, scales and all of that malarkey and understanding the physicality, too, which is really important to inform the character. It's funny. In a way, you learn all of this in a way to want to throw it all to the sides. You learn it to forget about it so that is is not dominating your mind the whole time and conquering your thoughts.

I know the other [actors] had lessons together. I don't know how they got any work done. It must have been a lot of fun, but, yeah, I had a strict regime. It was good and rewarding too — you really do pick up a lot quickly when you practice.

When you were younger, did you play any instruments or was this your first experience?
I did play the cello for a little bit when I was younger for a couple of years, but that was when I was like six or seven years old. There wasn't too much that I could bring to this — essentially the violin is everything that the cello is in reverse — and, of course, in terms of the actual playing, everything is much smaller on the violin. There was a steep learning curve in that sense, but I really enjoyed doing it and wanted to give it my all to make it really believable.

In the film, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Catherine Keener play your parents. Are they anything like your real parents?
They are nothing like my real parents actually. I love my real mom and dad, I love them both equally. In the film, Catherine is just really an important person. She's come to be that way in the impact that she has had in my life. I respect my mom and dad a lot, and I really, really respect Phil [Hoffman] and Catherine, of course, but no, they are very very different.

Sounds like you learned a lot from Catherine.
Yeah, totally, and a real sense of play. She is a very encouraging actress, very generous, a very, very generous heart.

 Getty Images

There is this one scene you have with Catherine where you confront her about how often she was away while you were growing up. A lot of raw emotion that came out during that scene. How did you get yourself to that place?
I think that really comes down to the questions Alexandra has been asking herself for a long time. She obviously has been making decisions — you see that in the film with Daniel — and I think she scolds herself for those choices later on. I get the impression, I have always felt that, with Alexandra, she's at a place in her life where she is insatiable and is seeking fulfillment in any way that she can and has no regard really for the feelings of the other people. It comes out in quite a harsh way that she felt this abandonment when she was younger, didn't really have a solid family network there for her. Again, I think it also comes down to the profession that she is attempting to get involved in: Does she actually want to do this or is she doing it to get praise from her parents? All of these questions come up in that way, in that emotion. I think also when you see someone that you love deeply frustrated with themselves, that can only be passed onto you because she does love her mother immensely.

Was there any awkwardness between you and Mark Ivanir or was the chemistry there from the beginning?
I think it just came to knowing that that is what is going on with the characters. From day one, understanding the decisions they were going to make and why. So, Mark and I, we hung out a lot. We had a couple of rehearsals before the film, but he is such an easy going guy so you just kind of find your way and Yaron was very hands on. It wasn't exactly the most straightforward relationship in that sense. It was actually a really interesting one to play because I used to listen in on a lot of discussions as to why Daniel does do that and Mark had his own opinions, Phil had his own opinions. It was a really interesting one to knuckle down on.

If you weren't acting, what would you be doing?
It's sort of a difficult one to talk about because acting is what I have been doing and what I wanted to do. It's kind of funny, with all of the different outlets that come from acting that you could try, I would love to direct and kind of be involved in art direction too. I think that is a fascinating aspect of directing and photography. You know all of these things can stem from the core. Acting is a real gift that can often present you with other opportunities that are slightly attached to it.

So you would stay within the creative realm?
Yeah, totally. For example, what Phil does — he directs plays, he directs films and acts in both — I think that is a really interesting way and it's such a collaborative industry in that sense. That's the real beauty and real sense of opportunity.

Who in Hollywood has your dream career?
I really admire Catherine's work. I really admire Amy Adams and Michelle Williams. The choices that they have made as actors are really, really cool. There is a certain mystery to them that is very magical, but they stand out for me. You have Juliette Lewis and Julianne Moore; all of these women are really awesome. And of course you have Jack Nicholson — he's just great.

Who is your dream love interest on screen?
Michael Shannon. He's a little far-fetched. Maybe not for me but I do like to watch his work.

What is your favorite movie?
I think my favorite movie's either got to be something like, "Running on Empty" with River Phoenix — that's a favorite of mine — and I just saw "I Shot Andy Warhol" for the first time the other day and that's a terrific film with Lili Taylor. It's a really, really great film. She was so good, just extraordinary in it.

All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...

• No one can make a "hard sell" movie (with A-list stars, anyway) quite like David Cronenberg. Rachel Weisz will be working with the "Cosmopolis" director and his two favorite leading men, Robert Pattinson and Viggo Mortensen, on "Map to the Stars," an extremist look at how there's no business like show business.

• We certainly have trouble telling Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader apart. Variety reports that the "Adventureland" buddies will play siblings in "The Skeleton Twins," the story of, well, twin siblings who manage to defy death on the same day and as a result take a long, hard look at their lives.

• "Dark Shadows" reunion! Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloe Moretz have signed on for "Man Under," director Tim Robbins' dysfunctional family comedy that probably won't involve vampires.

• Imogen Poots isn't afraid to ask the hard questions — and take the hip roles. Hot on the heels of getting behind the wheel of "Need For Speed," the "Fright Night" beauty has also signed on to join Zac Efron in "Are We Officially Dating?"

• And now for something completely different! The Wrap reports that Gemma Arterton and Benedict Cumberbatch will be joining the long-gestating Monty Python project, "Absolutely Anything," a dark comedy centering on a school teacher who discovers he has superpowers.

• This comes as no surprise — he lived "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," after all. The Playlist reports that Jeff Goldblum has confirmed that he's booked a room (role) in Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel."

• Oh, is Jared Leto still acting? Deadline brings word that the musician, entrepreneur and who knows what else is returning to his humble thespian roots and joining Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner in "The Dallas Buyers Club."

Look out, motorists — Howard Stark himself is feeling the "Need For Speed." Variety reports that Dominic Cooper is joining Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots in the screen adaptation of the popular video game series that's looking to share a little of that "Fast and Furious" mileage.

All of the week's hot casting news in one fell swoop ...

• John Cusack is a triple threat this week! In just the past few days he's scored roles in the legal drama "Due Process," the Stephen King adaptation "Cell" (Cusack's second King adventure, following "1408") and Roger Avary's "Duel"-type thriller, "Airspace."

• Hollywood loves it when a one-night stand leads to true love (and, often, a baby ... and not always in that order). Deadline reports that Amanda Seyfried and Patrick Dempsey will be playing unexpectedly expecting parents in "Wonderful Tonight," a romantic comedy that we hope gets a new title sooner rather than later (sorry, Mr. Clapton, but do you really need the extra money?).

• Harrison Ford and Zac Efron? We're so there, especially since their team-up is described as being kind of like "Cape Fear." The duo have signed on for Rob Reiner's thriller, "You Belong to Me," in which the bonding between a psychiatrist (Ford) and the brother of one of his patients who committed suicide (Efron) takes a sharp turn when the young buck starts seducing the doc's wife and daughter.

• A "Muppets" movie is always good for some pretty cute casting. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that "Inglourious Basterds" and "Water For Elephants" villain Christoph Waltz has joined the Europe-set "Muppets" sequel in the rather heroic role of an Interpol inspector.

 Getty Images

• We'd make a getaway — clean or otherwise — with Imogen Poots any day. Heat Vision says the "Fright Night" beauty will be joining Aaron Paul in "Need For Speed," the tricked-out thriller based on the popular series of racing video games that was probably greenlit because the "Fast and Furious" movies make a ton of bank.

• Now here's some "Genius" casting! Michael Fassbender and Colin Firth will be starring in the true-life drama that chronicles the relationship between author Thomas Wolfe (Fassbender) and renowned editor Max Perkins (Firth).

• The latest "Sin City" census reveals that both Jaime King and Jamie Chung are residents of Robert Rodriguez's "A Dame to Kill For," with King playing Wendy, the twin sister of her slain character Goldie from the first movie, and Chung replacing Devon Aoka as Deadly Little Miho. Now, who will be playing Ava Lord, the dastardly "Dame" in question?

• Now that the Red Skull has been blasted into outer space (or something), Steve Rogers needs himself a new nemesis. Variety brings word that Frank Grillo will be taking on the red, white and blue Avenger as the villainous Crossbones in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

 Getty Images

• Call it a "Panic Room" for the mid-19th century. Olivia Wilde, Hailee Steinfeld and Nicole Behaire have signed on to take a stand in "The Keeping Room," a Civil War-set drama in which three women must defend their home from an invasion by a group of Union Army deserters.

• Let it be, let it be ... Benedict Cumberbatch! The Playlist brings word that the "Sherlock" star and future "Star Trek" villain will be playing Brian Epstein, the manager of The Beatles, in a currently untitled biopic (how about "Brian"? or "Epstein"? or "Let It Be"?) to be produced by Tom Hanks.

• Hugo Weaving's digging the "everything is connected" kinds of movies lately — at least more than, say, "Transformers." The "Cloud Atlas" star will be joining Rose Byrne in "The Turning," a collection of 17 stories that revolve around turning points in the lives of the people of the Australian coastal town of Angelus.

• Vince Vaughn just wants you to know that he's still busier than you. The "Made" man is taking a break from comedy for the first time since "Domestic Disturbance" (2001) with "Triple Time," an action thriller about a U.S. marshal tasked with escorting a prisoner accused of an environmental disaster to Washington, D.C.

• He didn't exactly hang ten in "Chasing Mavericks," but that's not going to keep Gerard Butler from getting back on the board. Deadline reports that Butler will be sticking with land sports in "Dynamo," the true-life story of the landmark soccer game that took place between an occupied Ukrainian team and their Nazi captors during World War II.

• Hopefully she won't be losing as much weight as Matthew McConaughey has. Deadline reports that "Elektra" beauty (and Ben Affleck spouse) Jennifer Garner is in talks to join the now super-skinny "Magic Mike" star in "Dallas Buyer's Club," the true-life drama about a man with AIDS who managed to live six years beyond expectation by smuggling illegal medicine into the U.S.

With the likes of Anna Kendrick and Felicity Jones vying to be the love interest of Steve Rogers in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," it's given new meaning to "America's Got Talent."

Now a whole bevy of beauties want to be contestants on "Who Wants to Marry a 100-Year-Old?," with Deadline reporting that Jessica Brown Findlay ("Downton Abbey"), Teresa Palmer ("Warm Bodies"), Imogen Poots ("Knight Of Cups"), Alison Brie ("The Five Year Engagement‘s"), and nudity-prone "Game of Thrones" star Emelia Clarke are all in contention for the female lead.

Apparently Cap is going to have to use his shield to deflect hot ladies more than bullets, especially since the article also says that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow will be doing some sexy avenging in the Marvel Studios sequel as well.

No wonder star Chris Evans seemed so game when interviewed about the film.

Evans can let his (literal) wingman The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) get some residual action from Cap's runoff, although directors Joe and Anthony Russo have yet to confirm which character all these lovely ladies are presumably tearing each other's hair out over. Safe money says its Sharon Carter, alias Agent 13, an ex-S.H.I.E.L.D badass and niece of the Peggy Carter character played by Hayley Atwell in "Captain America: The First Avenger."

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" will race into battle on April 4, 2014.

So who's up for the role of Steve Rogers' new sweetie?

Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots and Felicity Jones are rumored to be the frontrunners for the female lead in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," according to The New York Post.

The details of the role are being kept under wraps, but fans are speculating that it will be Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell in "Captain America: The First Avenger." We have a feeling that if Marvel is indeed going with Sharon, she'll be adjusted to be Peggy's grand-niece (think about it; it makes more sense) as well as the agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. that she is in the "Ultimate" comic book series.

We love Anna Kendrick and all (can't wait for "Pitch Perfect," opening Oct. 5), and Imogen Poots certainly proved she has some fightin' spirit with her performance in last summer's "Fright Night," but we kind of hope the part goes to Felicity Jones (if indeed it's down to these three ladies). We think she'd do quite well in the Marvel universe ... and would look the most at home sharing a frame with Chris Evans (even if Kendrick could probably pass the most for a relative of Atwell's).

Felicity Jones also recently lost the part of Mrs. "Jack Ryan" to Keira Knightley, so, you know, Hollywood owes her a franchise!

But that's just us. Who do you think should be the Captain's new ladyfriend? Let us know via the poll below.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which will feature Anthony Mackie as Falcon (awesome), will hit theaters on April 4, 2014.

At the end of the trailer for the indie crime thriller "Comes a Bright Day," one of the characters earnestly delivers the line, "You can't kill me, son. I'm dead already." And while that may sound like a cliched thing to say, for once it's actually 100% true.

Because the guy saying it is none other than Peter Pettigrew, a.k.a. "Harry Potter" nemesis Wormtail.

Bet you didn't see that one coming.

And veteran actor Timothy Spall (that's Pettigrew's real world name) isn't the only pleasant surprise in this British production. The rest of the cast is pretty interesting as well, with the lead played by "Submarine" star Craig Roberts and other main characters portrayed by Imogen Poots ("Fright Night") and Kevin McKidd ("Percy Jackson," "Grey's Anatomy").

So does the story of a heist gone wrong live up to the unexpectedly cool casting? Check out the trailer for "Comes a Bright Day," courtesy of YouTube, and marvel at the sight of Wormtail actually speaking the truth for once:

Imogen Poots is about to get a little dirty. A lot dirty, actually.

The "Fright Night" beauty is headed for the ugly underbelly of humanity as she joins the ragtag cast of "Filth," according to The Playlist.

"Filth" is based on the novel of the same name by Irvine Welsh, and the story certainly holds true to its brazen title. The man who brought us "Trainspotting" paints another portrait of lost souls and hopeless addicts with the story of Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a sex- and drug-addled Scottish police officer whose investigation of a murder keeps getting sidetracked by his own depraved shenanigans. Watching over him (sort of ) is his partner (sort of), Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), and his boss, Bob Toal.

Imogen Poots will be playing the role of Amanda Drummond, one of Bruce's colleagues (and possible sexual conquests). Jim Broadbent has also recently joined the cast in an undisclosed role (though he could be playing Toal, the part that Welsh once said Alan Cumming was attached to), and go-to villainous character actor Eddie Marsan (recently memorable as a demon's "agent" of sorts in "Heartless") will play the shady Bladesey, one of several lowlifes with whom Bruce is acquainted.

Poots received a lot of flack for her role as the trophy girlfriend in last summer's "Fright Night," but we actually liked her understated and sweet-natured performance; it certainly brought a much-needed balance to all the alpha-male showboating of both Colin Farrell and David Tennant. Anyway, she has yet to get a part that allows her to show what she's really got, and a walk (or crawl, rather) through the Irvine Welsh muck might be just the thing to catapult her to the big leagues.

"Filth" begins production this week in Scotland under the direction of Jon S. Baird ("Cass") -- look for its dirty debut sometime in 2013.

It-girl du jour Imogen Poots is clearly on the rise— the blond bombshell just landed the female lead opposite "Gossip Girl" heartthrob Penn Badgley in the soon-to-shoot "Greetings From Tim Buckley."

The drama, written by Emma Sheanshang, David Brendel and Dan Algrant (who will also direct), follows the true story of the days leading up to Jeff Buckley's famed 1991 performance at a tribute concert for his father, who had abandoned him.

Poots will play a young woman who meets Buckley (Badgley) while working at the concert, and, shockingly totally predictably catches his eye. The two take off on a four-day journey together that will change both of their lives, Deadline reports.

Sounds like good movie fare to us.

Shooting is slated to begin as soon as next month, which means it shouldn't be too long before we see these two hotties tearing it up (and maybe taking it off?) on the silver screen.

In the meantime, however, you can catch Poots in the comedy horror flick, "Fright Night," which hits theaters August 19. Summer's feeling hotter already.

Horror flicks are hot these days, and perhaps none is sizzling more than "The Seventh Son," which tells the story of a young boy training to be an exorcist—who runs into a spot of trouble when he's tricked into releasing the most evil witch in the world.

With the iconic Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore (unofficially) on board, it's no surprise that young Hollywood is clamoring to snap up the other lead roles.

So, which up-and-coming stars are we talking about exactly?

For the part of Tom Ward, the aforementioned exorcist-in-training, the short list includes Sam Claflin ("The Pillars of the Earth"), Caleb Landry-Jones ("Friday Night Lights") and James Frecheville ("Animal Kingdom").

For Alice, whom we're betting is Tom's partner-in-crime/ love interest, the list is even longer — Imogen Poots ("Jane Eyre"), Felicity Jones ("Chalet Girl"), Alicia Vikander ("Beloved"), Gabrielle Wild ("Approaching Midnight") and Dianna Agron ("Glee") are all gunning for the role.

According to Variety, testing for these parts was delayed due to rewrites that needed to be made to secure Bridges.

With production slated to start as soon as September 13 in Vancouver, the casting directors better start those screen tests soon!

As of next year, three of America's most famous superheroes will be played by Brits: Superman (Henry Cavill), Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield), and Batman (Christian Bale). No, we're not going to protest out of some misguided jingoism (although we will point out the horror with which our friends across the Atlantic responded to Renee Zellweger playing Bridget Jones once upon a time).

We don't know if it's the popularity of rigorous youth drama programs or what, but the British are invading Hollywood at a rate that rivals the arrival of the Aussies in the late '90s. Looking at the more established young slate of English talent (Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan, the Harry Potter trifecta, and Robert Pattinson to name a few), we say welcome to the next gen of Bright Young Brits.

Alex Pettyfer

Move over Robert Pattinson, Pettyfer is the new Prince of Young Adult adaptations. Fresh off his portrayal of a sexy alien in "I Am Number Four," he's now the heavily tattooed "ugly" lead in "Beastly," opposite Vanessa Hudgens – and he's being considered for nearly every upcoming teen page-to-screen adaptation, including "City of Bones," "The Hunger Games" and "The Last Apprentice." Soon it won't just be teens and Young Adult-reading adults who know about the blond and beautiful Brit.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

She's a well-born model-turned-actress, but her blue-blood pedigree matters not to the legions of "Transformers" fanboys waiting to judge her performance in "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" by how closely she can approximate her predecessor Megan Fox's hotness. She doesn't have any other films in production, but if things don't go as planned, she can always return to her titillating career as a Victoria's Secret model.

Andrew Garfield

After this last awards season, it’s impossible to ignore the "Social Network" star, whose on-screen raging outburst made Justin Timberlake's Sean Parker flinch. He’ll next play Peter Parker in Matthew Vaughn's new "Spider-Man" flick. We're not sure what it is about Brits taking over our favorite Superhero films, but if it means more of Garfield (and Cavill), we're all for it. For more evidence of his serious acting chops, check out his brooding, intense performance in the English made-for-television "Red Riding" trilogy or the riveting indie drama "Boy A."

Nicholas Hoult

Ages ago he was the blue-eyed, scene-stealing primary schooler from "About a Boy," but he happily grew into the bedroom-eyed scene-stealing bad boy in the first two seasons of the original, British "Skins." Since his breakout performance as Tony Stonem, Hoult has gone toe-to-toe with Colin Firth in "A Single Man," sword-to-sword with Sam Worthington in "Clash of the Titans," and mutant-to-mutant as a young Beast in the upcoming "X-Men: First Class."

Kaya Scodelario

The broody brunette played Nicholas Hoult's wild-child younger sister Effy in two seasons of "Skins" before taking over his place as the main character in the third and fourth seasons. Off-screen, Scodelario has also been following in her fictional big brother's footsteps, taking a turn in "Clash of the Titans" and the acclaimed indie drama "Moon." She's set to play Catherine in English director Andrea Arnold's new "Wuthering Heights" adaptation, and she's a perpetual fan favorite to portray Katniss Everdeen in the much-hyped "Hunger Games" trilogy.

Henry Cavill

The next Man of Steel hails not from a crowded metropolis but from Jersey in the Channel Islands between England and France. Cavill spent most of the last decade playing bit parts in period films, most notably baring all as the womanizing Duke of Suffolk on Showtime's "The Tudors." His come-hither performance, which People named "the Sexiest Courtier Alive," landed him the much-coveted role in Zack Snyder's "Superman" reboot.

Lily Collins

The petite beauty broke into Hollywood as the high-school-aged daughter of Oscar winner Sandra Bullock in "The Blind Side." But Collins is no Southern belle. The daughter of rocker-turned-composer Phil Collins, she has since scored leading roles in two thrillers, "Priest" with Paul Bettany and "Abduction" with Taylor Lautner, both of which roll out this year. She also snagged the better-than-Bella role of Clary in the "The Mortal Instruments" series, a potential "Twilight"-sized franchise.

Tom Hardy

Turning in the stand-out performance in an ensemble thriller with Leo DiCpario, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page and Oscar winner Marion Cotillard sounds like a dream come true, but Hardy managed to steal the show in Christopher Nolan's "Inception." The hard-working Englishman (he's made 21 other films since his blink-and-miss introduction in "Black Hawk Down") is now one of Hollywood's most sought-after actors, with roles in five more action-dramas, including Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises."

Imogen Poots

With such varied movies on her slate as the horror-comedy remake "Fright Night" (with Colin Farrell as the seductive vampire, of course) , the Mia Wasikowska-Michael Fassbender version of "Jane Eyre," and the vampire love-story "Hello Darkness," Poots could be the next Mia or Carey or Keira herself. She's got the looks, and after this year it will be obvious if she has the chops.

Sam Claflin

Subscribers to premium cable network Starz might recognize Claflin as the valiant Richard from the Golden Globe-nominated medieval miniseries "The Pillars of the Earth." Claflin traded in his 12th-century knight's armor for 19th-century attire as a handsome young missionary (think Orlando Bloom replacement) that falls -- literally -- for a beautiful mermaid in an upcoming summer swashbuckler you may have heard of, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

Aaron Johnson

In his home country, Johnson's a hardcore tabloid target for falling in love with, impregnating, and proposing to his much-older "Nowhere Boy" director, Sam Taylor-Wood, but in the rest of the world, he's best known for being one of the bad-ass young stars of "Kick Ass." The controversial blockbuster was a sleeper hit last year, and plans are underway for a sequel in 2012. In the meantime, Johnson will star opposite Glenn Close and Mia Wasikowska in Rodrigo Garcia's 19th Century Irish drama "Albert Nobbs."

Hayley Atwell

Like many of her fellow Brits, Atwell popped up in costume dramas and miniseries for several years before winning the lead female role in the BBC-produced "The Pillars of the Earth." Since most Americans don't have Starz, it's safe to say her breakout performance will be in this summer's "Captain America: The First Avenger," in which she plays Peggy Carter, the patriotic hero's love interest. She's rumored to next appear in "The Great Gatsby" with Leo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan.

But Butterfield is poised for Serious Stardom with his next film, as the titular orphan in Martin Scorsese's period drama, "Hugo Cabret," opposite Jude Law, Christopher Lee, Ben Kingsley, and American wünderkind Chloe Moretz.

We think 2011 is her year, with key roles lined up in Matthew McConaughey's "Killer Joe," the "Three Musketeers" and as one half of the titular lesbian couple in the indie "Jack and Diane."

He's Caius the vampire in the "Twilight" saga and Grindelwald the legendary wizard in the final "Harry Potter" films. Apparently he can't get enough of period costumes: Campbell-Bower makes his prime-time debut next month as a young King Arthur in the sexy new Starz series, "Camelot."

Ahh, Orlando Bloom, you once adorned every middle school girl's bedroom door, and now father time has caught up with you.

At the ripe old age of 34, with his best years of pirating and fellowship behind him, it seems reasonable that the elderly Bloom should seek out a nice quiet place in the country, raise his family, and write poetry the rest of his days… or at least play someone who did that. Easier said than done.

"Marriage, like money, is still with us; and, like money, progressively devalued."

This famous quote by English poet Robert Graves is particularly ironic in the context of the famous scandal that ended his marriage in 1929. Now Ol' Bloomy seeks to portray the "I, Claudius" writer during this period of emotional turmoil and artistic success in a new film titled "The Laureate."

According to Hollywood Wiretap, Legolas has been cast alongside hot young U.K. commodities Imogen Poots and Kerry Condon in the production from newcomer writer/director William Nunez.

It will follow the post-WWI period in which American poet Laura Riding accompanied Graves, his wife Nancy, and their children as he took up a post at Cairo University. A passionate love triangle formed, which culminated in Riding's attempted suicide and Graves' divorce from Nancy. Graves and Riding would be together throughout the next decade, during the salad days of his career.

Biopics of poets are not always the sexiest topics, but with this cast and the subject's highly-charged nature, "The Laureate" could prove compelling come awards season. Also, let's not forget that Graves' Oxford chum T.E. Lawrence was the basis for a little movie called "Lawrence of Arabia," so there's that.
