Remember Gotye? He was the guy who wrestled Carly Rae Jepsen for Song of Summer '12 with "Somebody That I Used To Know." Don't write him off too quickly, since the guy did get a Grammy. Plus, that music video was pretty unforgettable, bringing still art to life. So, naturally, the dude whose turned his primo Gollum impression into an audition for "Les Miserables" has now gone and covered last summer's pop oddity with aplomb.
Yup, that iconic, unforgettably grovely voice straight out of "The Hobbit," might be starting his own soundtrack, if this second video has anything to say about it. If we may make a suggestion, however, we'd love to hear Gollum ask us to call him, maybe. And maybe something by Bieber. And, while he's at it, let's hear some Bruno Mars, too.
Just go all out and make a soundtrack, dude. The time is now.
If there's one thing you can say about "Les Miserables," it's that its actors — particularly Oscar nominees Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway — don't just chew the scenery. They gnaw, gobble, and chew it up, before spitting it out again -- but, hey, that's how you win an Oscar, isn't it? (We'll find out on Sunday.)
Did you ever think "The Lord of the Rings"' Gollum — of all people, nay, creatures — could emote the same raw, haunting, endlessly-tragic passion that Jackman and Hathaway helped make "Les Miz" an epic soul-crusher? Well, one YouTuber decided to turn that question into a reality by doing his best impression of Gollum singing "I Dreamed A Dream."
If you're like me, the frogginess of his throat will make your toes curl in repulsion, your stomach ready to deep heave in disgust. But you're probably not like me (because I have a thing with voices, sorry) and you will enjoy this.
As if Kiwis weren't already synonymous with "Lord of the Rings," their national airline Air New Zealand is now declaring itself "Air Middle Earth" and has produced a flight briefing video for travelers about to embark on an unexpected journey.
To make sure that the nerdiest know-it-alls are paying attention to this presentation, instead of playing with their 20-sided die, flight crew in Gandalf, Legolas or elf drag guide you through the standard do's and don’t's of in-flight safety. Get More »
Back in December, we reported about the Lego company piecing together the rights to Peter Jackson's "Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit" movies for use in their toy playsets.
Now The Hollywood Reporter has your first look at the initial wave of Lego figures based on the filmic versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved characters.
While the prequel toys aren't scheduled to drop until closer to the December release of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," these pics show characters from Jackson's original trilogy including all members of the Fellowship, from Gandalf to Gimli. Get More »
Sound the Horn of Helm Hammerhand! What a grand day for Middle-earth!
Director Peter Jackson gave us a gift each holiday season back in 2001, '02 and '03. Not just by accomplishing the impossible task of bringing Middle-earth to life, but for giving us the eye candy of Andy Serkis' performance-capture tour de force as Gollum/Sméagol in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Now, after years of speculation, it's looking like more of this gift is definitely on the way!
Hot off the news that Elijah Wood's Frodo will return to Middle-earth, Deadline has word that Andy Serkis has followed suit, signing on the dotted line to once again portray Gollum in Jackson's "The Hobbit."
In addition to returning cast members Cate Blanchett and Elijah Wood, it has just been officially confirmed that Sir Ian McKellen has indeed worked out his deal to return as Gandalf in a major role in the two films! Get More »
