Freida Pinto Kicks Up Her Heels For 'Desert Dancer'

The "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" beauty will soon be showing off her dance moves as she signs on to play the female lead in "Desert Dancer," according to Variety.

Alfred Molina and Reece Ritchie are also on board the film that's based on the life of Afshin Ghaffarian. The story is set in Iran, where most forms of dancing are banned, against the backdrop of the 2009 election protests — where, despite the dangers, Ghaffarian (Ritchie) is willing to risk his life to fight for his dream to become a dancer. GALLERY: Stars Rise at 'Planet of the Apes' Premiere

James Franco, Tom Felton, Freida Pinto, Andy Serkis and many more were present to mark the beginning of the simian uprising at the Los Angeles premiere of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes."

Check out the children of the revolution as they worked the red carpet at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Thursday, July 28. Rupert Grint was there to show his unwavering support for his "Harry Potter" pal and Andy Serkis appeared to still be somewhat in character as Caesar, the rabble-rousing ultra-smart ape.
