This week: Director J.A. Bayona's gut-wrenching "The Impossible" starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in her Oscar-nominated role tells the true story of one family's struggle for survival after the 2004 tsunami that devastated Thailand and much of the surrounding region.
Also new this week is the troubled "Gangster Squad" with Sean Penn, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling; Gus Van Sant's "Promised Land" with Matt Damon and John Krasinski; and the Blu-ray 3D debut of the original "Jurassic Park." Get More »
Sometimes, two ladies make out with each other in major motion pictures. Other times, they not only make out with each other — they simulate sexual intercourse with each other. We love our mothers. We wouldn't be here without them. As the years tick by, we become grateful for all the stuff that Mom bugged us about at the time – eating our vegetables, not sitting too close to the television, wearing warm clothes, paying attention in school, etc.

Now Damon has revealed his first casting pick for his directorial debut, and it's a goodie. Frances McDormand, who won an Oscar for performance as a pregnant crime-solving cop in "Fargo," is the first official cast member in the currently unnamed project. Get More »
Like a moth to a flame, Wes Anderson movies have become catnip for the coolest actors in the world, and it looks like his latest slice of quirky heaven will be no exception.
