In Hollywood, the early months of the year are typically reserved for a few very specific varieties of films: awards-season darlings expanding their distribution, genre films looking to conquer the box office via counterprogramming, and comedies the studios hope will earn a quick buck before dying a quiet death.
But on March 16, Sony Pictures is releasing "21 Jump Street," Chris Miller and Phil Lord's big-screen update of the 1980s television series of the same name. And while in most cases a movie like this would probably fall into that third category, Lord and Miller have created an almost instant classic -- a comedy that manages to pay homage to its source material while standing alone as a terrific buddy cop movie.

"Bridesmaids" star Ellie Kemper is officially a bride.
On "Conan" Wednesday night, the 31-year-old actress confirmed that she is engaged to Michael Koman, her boyfriend of several years, People reports.
During her interview, O'Brien threw in that he wanted "to mention something … It's sort of a big deal around this office. You got engaged."
Kemper replied, "Yeah, I did!" O'Brien offered his congratulations, describing Koman as a "very talented writer who worked for me for many, many years." Get More »
