On the heels of the box-office failure of "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone," at least one studio isn't betting on Jim Carrey right now.
Warner Bros. subsidiary New Line is not optimistic about the prospects for a sequel to Carrey's '90s hit "Dumb and Dumber," which co-starred Jeff Daniels. After years of false starts and rumors, both co-directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly and the two stars finally committed to come back. But now Warner Bros. has decided they don't want to finance it, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Get More »
Sequels are awesome, plain and simple. Returning to familiar characters and worlds we love is like covering yourself with a warm blanket, although when a sequel is bad it can be like a blanket covered in potato bugs and lice. Studios love sequels because seven times out of ten they open huge, no matter how good they are. Get More »
Jim Carrey is seriously having himself quite a week. First we premiered the brand new trailer for the hotly anticipated hardcore superhero sequel "Kick-Ass 2" yesterday, which co-stars Carrey as club-wielding psycho Colonel Stars and Stripes. And then last night was the world premiere of his new movie "Burt Wonderstone," which sees Carrey facing off against Steve Carell in a battle of comedic heavyweights.
And now? Well, according to Access Hollywood, Carrey revealed that he and Jeff Daniels may reunite for "Dumb and Dumber 2" (rumored to be titled "Dumb and Dumber To") as early as next year.
Hey, for a dumb guy, Carrey's career moves this week sure seem smart. Get More »
Once upon a time, "The Shining" was recut to look like a family comedy, and so began the art of the recut trailer. It's since become a common part of the Internet landscape, but credit should always be paid to the originator, which is why a mashup of Kubrick's classic with "Dumb and Dumber" is a truly decadent, demented pleasure.
When you pair a maniacal Jack Nicholson with a gastrointestinally-challenged Jeff Daniels, what you get is movie magic, as it turns out! All you need to do is add an ax-wielding, blood-hungry villain with some really stupid, classic potty humor, and you have on your hands a viral video destined for greatness.
Now, if only we could find Jim Carrey ...
The road trip movie: It's one of Hollywood's most sacred institutions. What other subgenre offers so many golden opportunities for rural stereotyping, rest stop potty humor and hot-boxing scenes?
But you know what can be frustrating about road trip flicks? We don't always know where those jaunts start and end.
In honor of Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand embarking on "The Guilt Trip," we've laid out the routes of 20 movie road trips in one handy map. You know, in case you get lost or something. Get More »
As the 2012 presidential election quickly approaches (tomorrow! eek!), Americans must carefully analyze each candidate's policies and personalities to determine who they want to lead the country for the next four years.
And then there's the funnier — but not any less absurd — election at the center of "The Campaign," a new political satire pitting Will Ferrell's charismatic, gaffe-prone incumbent against Zach Galifianakis's Washington outsider in a North Carolina congressional race.
We're not sure we'd vote for either of these guys in real life, but you know who we would vote for? Yoda. And The Dude. And after "The Avengers," Hulk would most definitely get our endorsement.
Apparently, single people love "The Hangover" and "The Notebook."
In the wild and wooly world of internet dating, sites are in constant search of some kind of quantifiable algorithm to get people off their laptops and into each others' laps.
Some say the way into a man's heart is through his stomach, but real men know the way into our hearts is through our favorite movies, something those dauntless romantological theorists at eHarmony Labs have looked into deeply, with a thorough illustrated charticle to prove it. Get More »
There's a reason you've recently had the urge to bust out your plaid shirts, Celine Dion albums and dial-up modems, as this week sees the release of two relics of the 1990s: "Titanic 3D" and "American Reunion."
Since both of these movies make us think back to a more innocent time when Monica Lewinsky was an eager young White House intern, our money wasn't on fire and Twittering was a weird body tic, we're reminiscing about that decade's most influential and essential cinematic treasures for future generations. It wasn't easy to narrow down the list (next time, "Problem Child 2," next time ...) but if we were to preserve only 25 flicks from the '90s in a time capsule, they would be these (listed in alphabetical order). Jim Carrey has spent the last decade securing himself a place in Hollywood as more than just a rubber-faced goof, but it looks like he's ready to get stupid once again.
Coming Soon reports that the actor is returning to his ridiculous roots with a sequel to his 1994 hit comedy "Dumb and Dumber."
At a press junket for their remake of "The Three Stooges," scheduled for release April 13, Bobby and Peter Farrelly announced that audiences can expect a "Dumber" sequel in the not-too-distant future. Get More »
They say the U.S. doesn't make things anymore -- that we've lost our way and are no longer No. 1.
Well, "they" are wrong. No country on Earth is capable of producing the quantity, quality and quantity of idiots that our fair land churns out with alarming regularity.
Affable favorite Paul Rudd continues the proud tradition of representing our country's most common commodity in "Our Idiot Brother," nwe on DVD and Blu-ray this week. But can he be stupid enough to join the ranks of elite morons, or does he still have a few more brain cells to kill? Let's review his imbecilic competition. Get More »
