What's Next for Marvel After 'The Avengers'?

Given that "The Avengers" is finally in theaters, you might think Marvel has tapped all of its resources at this point. After all, not only does the movie feature solo stars Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk, but the studio has also already collaborated on franchises for "X-Men," "Fantastic Four," "Spider-Man," "Ghost Rider," "Daredevil" and "Blade," among others. What's left?

As it turns out, there's still plenty left in Marvel's vast character library — and with the success of "The Avengers," it's a guarantee you'll be seeing some of them on the big screen sooner rather than later.

Two Mystery Marvel Movies Mounted For Multiplexes In 2014

Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios is ramping up its slate of superhero blockbusters into the distant horizon as it books dates for two new films landing on May 16, 2014, and another for June 27, 2014. But what are these mystery movies?

'Captain America' And 'Thor' Sequels Already In Full Swing

Marvel Comics fans are living the dream this summer, with three, count 'em, three huge movies (the one with the hammer guy, the one with the shield guy, and the one with the mutant guys) and the lead-up to next summer's superherostravaganza "The Avengers."

Unlike in the comics world, where each monthly installment is most likely churned out by a bitter, chain smoking writer and a couple of pasty-looking artists chained to a desk, a super hero movie is a complex piece of machinery involving a virtual army of highly paid technicians, actors and publicists. It's fairly easy in comics to have Thor battle a hoard of fire-breathing 85-headed hydras, but for a movie there would be endless meetings with executives arguing, "2-headed hydras would be more cost-efficient… Can one of the monsters have a Blackberry?" etc. Get More »
