"Anchorman: The Legend Continues" is currently filming in Atlanta, where "Conan" is currently having a week's worth of shows. Much to our delight, this allowed the always-charming Paul Rudd to appear on the show last night in full Brian Fantana garb (which includes a giant, healthy, super-creepy mustache), where he talked about the film's December release and even (gasp!) brought along a clip from the much-anticipated sequel.
Or so he told Conan, and all of us, and we believed him. We believed you, Rudd.
Don't get us wrong: The clip is funny, maybe as funny as any future 15-second clip from "Anchorman: The Legend Continues." And who knows — the movie might actually have a scene where a kid in a wheelchair falls off a cliff into a lake and an alien watches with delight. We can neither confirm nor deny that that actually takes place in the movie.
I'm just not sure if Rudd fully comprehends the emotional wringer he put us through for laughs. Damn you, Paul.
Sequels are awesome, plain and simple. Returning to familiar characters and worlds we love is like covering yourself with a warm blanket, although when a sequel is bad it can be like a blanket covered in potato bugs and lice. It's been more than a week since the news broke that Kristen Stewart had a fling with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, but Twi-hards are still reeling from the scandal. And no one is more upset about the Robsten break-up than funnyman Will Ferrell.
