Hollywood's 'Grand Seduction:' Taylor Kitsch Keeps Getting Work
If the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences began handing out Oscars for Best Agent, this year's prize would be a shoo-in, because whomever is handling Taylor Kitsch's post-meltdown career deserves some sort of award.
That's because, despite the fact that Kitsch headlined two of the biggest bombs of the year — and arguably of all time — in "Battleship" and "John Carter," Variety is reporting that he's already landed his next leading role, as the hunky actor is set to star in the upcoming comedy "Grand Seduction."
But can he seduce viewers into actually seeing this one? Get More »
Ricci, Gleeson and Smoove Get 'Smurf'ed
The little blue people have recruited three new big people for their next big-screen adventure.
Christina Ricci, Brendan Gleeson and J.B. Smoove will soon be singing "La, la, la la-la-la" (at least in their heads) as they've signed on to appear in the currently untitled sequel to last summer's box office hit, "The Smurfs," according to Heat Vision.
The plot of "The Smurfs 2" (which is what we'll call it until advised otherwise) hasn't been revealed yet, though certain Smurfy character details have emerged with the casting news. Ricci will be providing the voice of Vexy, an evil version of Katy Perry's Smurfette (we think we remember that episode …?), while Smoove will voice a "naughty" new character named Hackus and Gleeson will play Victor Doyle, the stepfather of Patrick Winslow (Neil Patrick Harris). Anna Kendrick & Co. Added to 'The Company You Keep'
Robert Redford sure knows how to put together a pretty amazing "Company."
The Hollywood veteran continues to attract A-list talent as even more skilled thespians have been recruited for his political thriller, "The Company You Keep," according to Variety.
Anna Kendrick, who's currently breaking hearts in theaters in "50/50," has joined the cast, along with Terrence Howard, Brendan Gleeson and Sam Elliott. The quartet joins the already impressive line-up of Shia LaBeouf, Brit Marling, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon, Richard Jenkins, Julie Christie, Stephen Root, Stanley Tucci, Chris Cooper and, of course, Redford himself. The Royal 'Harry Potter' Acting Company: By The Numbers
When "Harry Potter" fans head to the theater this weekend to check out "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," they'll no doubt be worrying about minor details like, you know, Voldemort trying to kill Harry, the Death Eaters taking over the wizarding world and basically the end of all things.
But some movie buffs will be focused on another amazing aspect of the film: all those incredible British thespians (and a couple Irishmen and Scots). Get More »
Michael Fassbender Dips Into 'At-Swim-Two-Birds'
With the addition of dreamy Magneto Michael Fassbender, Brendan Gleeson's "At-Swim-Two Birds" is threatening to be crushed under the weight of its delightfully broody cast.
Fassbender, who will be appearing as a kinky Carl Jung in David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method," has signed on to star alongside Cillian Murphy, Gabriel Byrne, and Colin Farrell in Gleeson's adaptation of the revered Irish novel.
Gleeson's had his "Mad Eye" on making Flann O'Brien's book a movie for years, and finally secured funds for the flick this past weekend, as well as the toothy Mr. Fassbender. According to the BBC, this 1939 book gets all meta on the reader when its young protagonist finds himself at the mercy of the characters he's created. It will be very interesting to see how this first-time director takes on this unwieldy but awesome tale that was far ahead of its time. Get More »
