Is it possible for two unicorns to play freely in the same pasture, their gorgeous tails glistening in the sun?

Is it possible to keep two magical pixies from falling in love and going off to play acoustic guitar serenades to each other for the rest of their lives?

The answer, it seems, is no, thanks to the sad and unceremonious split of the world's foremost Manic Pixie Dreamgirl and that sad guy from Death Cab For Cutie.

That's right, you heard it here, Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard have run out of ukulele solos and quirky jokes to tell each other, so they're doing the responsible thing and getting a divorce.

Rolling Stone reports that everyone's favorite professionally wacky actress is splitting with her man in a "mutual and amicable" way, that won't lend itself to any angry She & Him albums in the near future.

The couple, who married in Sept., 2009, beat out some recent quickie-marriage-havers, having made it past the two year mark when they decided to announce their separation.

The crate of unsold Postal Service albums will be going to him, while all of the angora sweaters, fake glasses and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's number will remain property of the bride.
