Casting Roundup: Fassbender, Wood and Bell Get the Gigs

Michael Fassbender's riding into the sunset, Evan Rachel Wood is hitting the road and Jamie Bell is gettin' busy in this week's casting news.
Fassbender may soon be studying to be a quick draw as he's in talks to join the western, "Jane Got a Gun," according to Vulture. Natalie Portman is currently attached to the film about a woman who hires an ex-lover (Fassbender) to protect her ranch after her outlaw husband returns home bullet-ridden and with former criminal colleagues hot on his heels. Lynne Ramsay ("We Need to Talk About Kevin") is attached to direct.

Steve Buscemi Gets 'Queer' Project and Cast

It's been a while since New York's most famous firefighter Steve Buscemi directed a full-length flick, but his next project sounds like a doozy.
A few years ago, Buscemi took part in a staged reading of writer-director Oren Moverman's script for an adaptation of the William S. Burroughs short novel "Queer." According to Moverman, whose next movie "Rampart" stars Woody Harrelson as a troubled cop, Buscemi will direct "Queer," and Guy Pearce, Ben Foster and Kelly Macdonald are attached to star. Casting continues on the troubled production as Ben Foster is the latest addition to the biography film about the New York crime family, according to Deadline.

Jason Statham Blows Up The World In 'The Mechanic' Trailer

While it's always initially somewhat problematic to accept a professional murderer as a "hero" in a movie, it's reconciled fairly quickly when that professional murderer is JASON STATHAM (yes, his name should only ever be written in all-caps), the Coolest Man in the Universe.
