Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have assembled a Murderer's Row of comedy heavy-hitters to provide cameos as themselves — including Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Emma Watson and Rihanna — in their new apocalyptic satire, "This is the End."

That's a buncha muncha cruncha cameos, but how do they stack up among the greatest ever perpetrated? We're counting down 35 surprise appearances in movies that pleased and shocked us ... and left us wanting more.

35. Jim Parsons, 'The Muppets' (2011)

Disney

Walter (Peter Linz) has to decide if he's "Man or Muppet," but during this solemn ballad he sees his human form in the mirror courtesy of the "Big Bang Theory" star. Although it was tunesmith Bret McKenzie who wrote the song, we think that a small chunk of that Academy Award for Best Song should go to Parsons for embodying the most Muppet-y man in the world. 34. Matt Damon, 'EuroTrip' (2004)

High schooler Scott Thomas (Scott Mechlowicz) doesn't realize his girlfriend Fiona (Kristin Kreuk) has been having an affair with the lead singer of a college band ... until he sees the skinhead Romeo at a grad party singing at length about the affair. Matt Damon goes hardcore with the monster ballad "Scotty Doesn't Know" by the band Lustra in "EuroTrip," which actually peaked at #75 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Watch it here.

33. Mark Hamill, 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back' (2001)

After all the "Star Wars" references scattered throughout the View Askewiverse, Kevin Smith finally landed Luke Skywalker himself as a super-villain named Cock-Knocker in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back." The doobie duo of the title dabbles in a lightsaber duel … or is that a bongsaber? The Force will be with this cameo, always. Watch it here.

32. Madonna, 'Die Another Day' (2002)

Besides providing a supremely sexy music video and title track to Pierce Brosnan's swan song as James Bond, the Material Girl took up a sword as 007's fencing instructor in a scene pulsing with double entendre. "I see you handle your weapon well," she says. "I have been known to keep my tip up," quips Brosnon. Haha, they're talking about sex. Watch it here.

31. Leonard Nimoy, 'Star Trek' (2009)

The greatest Vulcan of them all passes the torch to his young usurper Zachary Quinto in the most satisfying way possible for Trekkies ("Thrusters on full") and makes a dignified exit from the franchise in the process (or does he?), assuring the shiny new Spock will live long and prosper. 30. Bob Saget, 'Half Baked' (1998)

"I used to suck d**k for coke," says Bob Saget during a rehab scene in Dave Chappelle's stoner comedy, pretty much steamrolling over memories of the family-friendly actor of "Full House" and "America's Funniest Home Videos." Those who've seen his stand-up since then know that this was just the tip of the raunchy iceberg. Watch it here.

29. Michael Cera, 'This Is the End' (2013)

The backlash against Michael Cera's dweeby on-screen persona hit full swing a few years ago, which is probably why he relished the chance to go, as his "Superbad" character would say, "full throttle 'Charlie's Angels 2'" with his extended cameo in "This is the End," bucking his milquetoast image by getting way drunk and high on "Scarface"-level amounts of blow. Before he's run through with a pole, he gets to reunite the "Superbad" trio of himself, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jonah Hill.

28. Alice Cooper, 'Wayne's World' (1992)

Paramount

We're not worthy to bask in the presence of a certified rock god, and neither are Wayne and Garth when they feed Cooper's Frankenstein (i.e., ego) by kissing the man's hand after a kick-ass show. Cooper has also made memorable cameos in "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" and "John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness." Watch it here.

27. Tom Cruise, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito, 'Austin Powers in Goldmember' (2002)

All the "Powers" movies are chock-a-block with surprise guests, but Mike Myers & Co. really went for broke parodying their own creation in "Goldmember" with the fake movie-within-a-movie "Austinpussy," featuring Cruise as Powers along with Spacey as Dr. Evil, DeVito as a surly Mini Me and Paltrow as Dixie Normous. The icing on the cake is Steven Spielberg as the director of this meta extravaganza. Watch it here.

26. Johnny Depp, '21 Jump Street' (2012)

After playing undercover narc Tom Hanson on Fox series "21 Jump Street" for four soul-crushing seasons, Depp spent the early part of his career trying to burn his teen idoldom in effigy. When it came to making the movie, Depp agreed to return as Hanson on one condition: his old Jump Street compadre Peter DeLuise had to cameo alongside him as Officer Doug Penhall. Both of them got to wear goofy undercover biker outfits, die side-by-side and ... did Hanson say something about getting a tattoo on his junk? Watch it here.

25. Pamela Anderson, 'Borat' (2006)

Fox

The blonde bombshell becomes the guiding light during Borat's eventful trip to America, but once he encounters her in real life at a book signing, the former "Baywatch" babe has to run for her life. It's a segment so well-played by both Anderson and Sacha Baron Cohen that many audiences questioned whether or not it was staged. Watch it here (in Italian!).

24. Charlie Sheen, 'Being John Malkovich' (1999)

USA Films

You know John Malkovich is in deep trouble when he's turning to Charlie Sheen for psychological/spiritual guidance, but that's exactly how it goes down in Spike Jonze's loopy take on fame and extreme voyeurism. A glimpse at a bald, elderly Sheen in a tacky Hawaiian shirt at the end lets us know that there's at least hope that Sheen will keep on "winning" well into his twilight years. Watch it here.

23. Gene Hackman, 'Young Frankenstein' (1974)

Fox

Hackman plays Harold, the poor old blind man who asks God for a friend and gets a monster instead in Mel Brooks' classic parody of the Boris Karloff "Frankenstein" pictures. After burning the beast's crotch with soup and inadvertently doing other humiliating things, Frankenstein's monster flees out the door with Hackman pleading, "Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make espresso." Watch it here. 

22. Will Ferrell, 'Wedding Crashers' (2005)

New Line

Any movie with more than four weddings needs at least one funeral, and that's where an uncredited Ferrell as Chaz Reinhold comes in. Owen Wilson may be good at taking advantage of euphoric women post-nuptials in "Wedding Crashers," but Ferrell is there to comfort the bereaved in true smooth-operator fashion. Of course, it turns out he's an ultra-pathetic dude who lives with his mom and watches cartoons all day when not bagging hearse honeys. Watch it here.

21. Bruce Campbell, all three 'Spider-Man' movies (2002-2007)

Campbell served director and childhood pal Sam Raimi well in three "Evil Dead" flicks, so it became a terrific running gag that the Big Chinned One would play a random role in all three blockbuster Spidey flicks. Bruce cropped up as a Wrestling Ring Announcer, a Snooty Usher and a Maître d', weaving a web of laughter. Watch his first "Spider-Man" cameo here.

20. Tim Robbins, Ben Stiller and Luke Wilson in 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' (2004)

This is the closest we'll ever get to an "Old School" sequel, with Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn and Luke Wilson together again for a Ron Burgundy brawl. All the rival San Diego news teams flock to a back alley and begin tearing each other to shreds, including a Spanish-language news team led by a mustachioed Ben Stiller and the public news team headed by a pipe-smoking Tim Robbins. Channel 4 keeps its head on a swivel, and that's what you gotta do when you find yourself in a vicious cock fight. Watch it here.

19. Cate Blanchett, 'Hot Fuzz' (2007)

Universal

It took the brilliant minds behind "Shaun of the Dead" to get one of the most beautiful movie stars in the world and then hide her behind goggles and a safety mask in "Hot Fuzz." Blanchett plays Janine, the ex-girlfriend of tightly wound Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg), and their short quibble in the middle of a violent crime scene is extra-subversive once you're aware of the uncredited actress. Watch it here.

18. Christopher Walken, 'True Romance' (1993)

Warner Bros.

Yes, his cameo with "the watch" in "Pulp Fiction" was memorable, but Walken's other sojourn into Tarantino-ville in "True Romance" is downright electric. He's aided by another infamous screen legend, Dennis Hopper, who shares an insulting anecdote about the origin of Sicilians and winds up giving Vincenzo Coccotti (Walken) a piece of his mind ... splattered all over the wall. "I haven't killed anybody ... [*BANG*] since 1984." Watch it here.

17. Sylvester Stallone, 'Staying Alive' (1983)

It's a neat bit of "now you see me, now you don't" cameo magic when John Travolta's strutting dancer Tony Manero bumps into Stallone on the street and they lock eyes for a split second. "Staying Alive" is the only flick Sly directed but did not star in, so he had to insert himself in there somehow. Watch it here. 

16. Bruce Springsteen, 'High Fidelity' (2000)

In one of the greatest fantasy cameos since Woody Allen brought Marshall McLuhan into the movie line in "Annie Hall," John Cusack's music nerd Rob Gordon imagines The Boss giving him love advice while casually strumming a guitar in "High Fidelity." "That's what you're lookin' for. Getting' ready to start again, it'll be good for you. Give that big final good luck and goodbye to your all-time Top Five." Watch it here.

15. Bruce Willis and Julia Roberts, 'The Player' (1992)

After screenwriters pitch an Oscar-caliber movie entitled "Habeas Corpus" to slick n' sleazy studio exec Griffin Mill, insisting it not be toned down with a softball Hollywood happy ending, we cut to one year later — and that's exactly what happens. Willis saves Roberts from the gas chamber at the last minute, and love conquers all! Watch it here.

14. Samuel L. Jackson, 'Iron Man' (2008)

Though the original Marvel Comics iteration of S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Nick Fury was a white dude with salt and pepper hair, the Ultimate universe reinvented Fury as a bald African American chap whose appearance was based on Sam 'The Man' Jackson. It seemed only appropriate that Jackson dropped in for a stinger at the end of "Iron Man," the first of several linking crossovers leading to "Marvel's The Avengers." Watch it here.

13. Eminem, 'Funny People' (2009)

The real Slim Shady sits down with stand-up comic George Simmons (Adam Sandler) after the sad-sack comedian beats a deathly illness and gives him the 411 on why he'd have been better off dead in Judd Apatow's underrated "Funny People." The peak moment arrives when Mr. Mathers spies Ray Romano staring at him and threatens, "I don't give a f**k what show he's on. I'll f**k this motherf**ker up, man!" Watch it here.

12. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 'Airplane!' (1980)

Paramount

The star basketballer took his patented sky hook to flying the friendly skies masquerading as airline pilot "Roger Murdock," although little Joey (Ross Harris) figures out the ruse pretty quickly. When Joey brings up his father's insults, Kareem grabs the boy by his shirt and yells, "I'm out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes." Watch it here.

11. Huey Lewis, 'Back to the Future' (1985)

Universal

Huey Lewis and the News felt "The Power of Love" for this time-traveling classic, but did you know that's Huey lookin' all dweeby as the uptight administrator with a megaphone? He's so wound up, he thinks Marty McFly's band is just "too darn loud" to play the high school dance. That's some sad news, Huey. Watch it here.

10. Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Romijn, 'X-Men: First Class' (2011)

Fox

Jennifer Lawrence inherited her near-naked take on blue sex goddess Mystique from Rebecca Romijn in this prequel, but since her mutant powers involve shape-shifting, she proves to Magneto she can look any way she wants for him. The movie also earns its single F-bomb with Jackman as Wolvie as he's approached in a bar by Charles & Erik. Watch it here.

9. Billy Idol, 'The Wedding Singer' (1998)

In a freak circumstance, Adam Sandler's character in "The Wedding Singer" winds up on a plane with the "White Wedding" singer, who helps him win the heart of Drew Barrymore and vanquish her d-bag boyfriend in the process. Nice! Watch it here.

8. Keith Richards, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' (2007)

Disney

Since Johnny Depp modeled the memorable mannerisms of his Captain Jack Sparrow on Richards, why not have this stone roll in for a day or two in full pirate drag as Sparrow's drunken papa? So far, his appearances in the last couple of "Pirates" adventures have been true highlights. Watch it here.

7. Bob Barker, 'Happy Gilmore' (1996)

When unstable ex-hockey player turned golf pro Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) is teamed up with Barker during a celebrity tournament, he winds up falling to pieces in the face of some obnoxious heckling, which leads to an extended fistfight between Gilmore and the game show host. 6. Brett Favre, 'There's Something About Mary' (1998)

After Ben Stiller's irresistible love interest Cameron Diaz nearly marries the former Green Bay Packer in this Farrelly Brothers classic, he decides she's better off with Favre, but a last-second switch-up has Diaz dumping the hero for the zero (that being Stiller). Adorable. Watch it here.

5. Stan Lee in every Marvel movie ... and 'Mallrats' (1995)

That's right, true believers, the co-creator of Marvel's mightiest heroes, from "Spider-Man" to "Iron Man," is always "The Man," a good luck charm in each of the comic book adaptations. Think of ol' Stan as the "Where's Waldo" of superheroics. He also inspired Jason Lee in longtime comic book aficionado Kevin Smith's sophomore effort "Mallrats." Excelsior! Watch it here.

4. Tom Cruise, 'Tropic Thunder' (2008)

After his couch-jumping and Scientological antics led to public embarrassment and a tarnished image, Tom Terrific needed a comedy pronto to prove he didn't take himself so seriously. Enter his longtime pal Ben Stiller, who cast Cruise as Les Grossman in "Tropic Thunder," a hyperbolic, foul-mouthed chimney of expletives who may or may not have been modeled on real-life producer Scott Rudin. Thanks to some hairy arms and a bald noggin courtesy of makeup man Rick Baker, Cruise screamed and danced his way back into the public's good graces. Watch it here.

3. Neil Patrick Harris, 'Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle' (2004)

This is where the road has taken him. Harris started off as Doogie Howser but wound up a poon hound of epic proportions, popping pills and branding whores all across the country. Not magic mushrooms, getting shot in the back or even Jesus can stop NPH from being the untameable party animal he is. Watch it here.

2. Mike Tyson, 'The Hangover' (2009)

Iron Mike punched his way back into pop culture relevancy when he punched out Zach Galifianakis faster than you could say "Nintendo." Tyson's few brief scenes became a cornerstone of the marketing campaign for the bro-tastic comedy smash and earned him a prominent place in the sequel. Watch it here.

1. Bill Murray, 'Zombieland' (2009)

Murray is in our estimation the greatest living actor, comedic or otherwise, so it's no duh that he takes the top spot for his movie-stealing appearance as himself, living la vida postapocalyptic in a zombiefied Hollywood. Reuniting with his old bowling buddy Woody Harrelson ("Kingpin") was cool, strapping on the ghostbustin' proton pack was better ... but badmouthing his involvement with the woeful "Garfield" movies? Every time we watch the "Back to the Future" trilogy, we have just one reaction: When are we going to be able to buy those cool hover skateboards? You know what we mean: In "Back to the Future Part II," Marty and the gang travel to the year 2015 and all the kids are floating around on hoverboards, totally shredding. And yet, here we are, just two years away, and there's still no sign of hoverboards anywhere.

Until today, that is, because thanks to the magic of eBay, you can buy your very own official "Back to the Future" hoveboard right now.

Of course, there are a couple of caveats. First of all, the hoverboard in question does not, technically speaking, actually hover. That's because it's actually an authentic prop made for use in the film not by Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly, but rather by Griff Tannen, son of sinister doofus Biff Tannen (both of whom were played by underrated comedian Thomas F. Wilson).

Also, it should probably be noted that this hoverboard, which features a gnarly "Pit Bull" design, didn't actually appear in the film. Rather, it's a prototype made by the prop department during the design stage of production for "Back to the Future II." And, oh yeah, the people selling it are currently asking for just short of $13,000.

Thirteen large for a non-functioning prop that didn't even appear in the movie?

No offense to Doc Brown, but we have to say that living in the future actually kind of sucks.

You have a quiz on the first "Back to the Future" this morning. But oh, no! You never watched the movie! You're totally screwed, man, and not just because you attend a school that thinks quizzing you on "Back to the Future" is worth your time.

(Time is of the essence, I guess.)

One surprising aspect of the video: There are a lot of swears. So when you end up taking that quiz, just make sure you don't include anything about Marty's propensity to drop f-bombs.

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's ...Marty McFly?

This epic mashup of "Back to the Future" and the upcoming Superman blockbuster "Man of Steel" asks what would happen if the golden boy of the '80s swapped his flying hoverboard for, well, whatever Superman uses to fly.

The official description for the mashup reads: "Marty McFly is from the future. His destiny has always been to travel back through time and help his father meet his mother... but will he realize it. Can Marty McFly find the super man inside himself?"

It's fair to say that, as pumped as we are to watch Henry Cavill take to the sky as the Man of Steel, there is nothing more delicious than the prospect of watching Christopher "Doc Brown" Lloyd train Michael J. Fox in the art of cloud-jumping. Or whatever it is that Doc Brown would try and teach Superman. In fact, can we make that movie?

Most betrothed couples opt for the soft lighting of botanical gardens at sunset or whatever other lush landscape backdrop'll give 'em the gag picture perfect-est engagement photos ever, but our hats go off to Abbie and her fun groom-to-be for using their fifteen minutes of pre-wedding fame to nerdily celebrate their favorite flick.

As chronicled over at When Geeks Wed, this Abbie and her unnamed fiancé put a lot of effort into tracking down the iconic Delorean driven by Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) in their 88 m.p.h. race to mastering time travel in the 1985 classic "Back to the Future."

"We wanted to somehow incorporate our love of the movies into our engagement shoot and our save the dates," Abbie said. "Unfortunately, neither one of us knew anyone with a Delorean handy or a flux capacitor." Luckily one Atlanta-based car collector in the business of setting up such things was able to lend a hand with that one and they found a photographer game for the task.

Challenge number two, of course, was piecing together the costuming. Badass that Abbie seems to be, she opted for the Doc look rather than Marty's love interest, Jennifer (Claudia Wells). "Since I’m currently in medical school, I thought it much more appropriate to dress up as Doc instead of Jennifer," she said. "I had loads of fun making my own feminized version of what I thought a girl Doc should wear — I felt equally nerdy and beautiful in my outfit for the shoot."

Unlike most Hollywood weddings, we have a feeling these rockin' geeks'll go the distance well into the future.

What if you were already 30 minutes late to a meeting, but you hailed a cab that got you there an hour early?

Wishful thinking? Not when your taxi has gull-wing doors and a Flux Capacitor, as New York fashion design company Nooka (via Mike Lubrano Advertising) has done in a new ad campaign featuring a yellow "Back to the Future"-style DeLorean cab.

Now settle down, New Yorkers. We're pretty sure you can't flag this one down yet, as it's apparent from the pics that this is just a Photoshop mock-up, at least for now. If it does hit the streets for real, we have a feeling Ben Bailey's "Cash Cab" will be quickly usurped for Doc Brown's flaming tread as the most fantasized mid-town ride. One question, though: does it charge by the mile, minute, day or decade?

Needless to say, when this baby hits 88-miles-per-hour, you're gonna see some serious s**t.

That magic speed of 88 MPH just isn't as easy to reach as it was 25 years ago, when the time machine encased in the DeLorean at the center of the "Back to the Future" trilogy was brand new.

The car used on screen in the classic 1980s Robert Zemeckis-directed films is being lovingly restored to museum quality by a team led by Bob Gale, who produced and co-wrote the films.

According to a video released on the page tracking the project, posted today, the team completely dissembled the car, down to its iconic "OUTATIME" license plate and 1.21 gigawatt flux capacitor.

Each and every part was cleaned, cataloged and repaired, brought back to pristine condition. A new computer control system will be installed to make sure the DeLorean functions safely.

When the restoration is complete, the DeLorean will be displayed in an indoor pavilion exhibit at Universal Studios.

We can't promise that it'll leave flaming tire marks in its wake, but it wouldn't be too surprising if it did, given the level of care the team is devoting to the project.

If anybody knows the power of time travel, it has to be Tom Wilson. After all, Wilson played Biff Tannen in the iconic "Back to the Future" trilogy, a character who changed the course of his own timestream by providing his past self with information from the far future.

And now Wilson seems to be using that power once again, because not only does he already know exactly what questions you're going to ask him, he's already written out all the answers on a handy post card. Amazing!

Okay, so Wilson doesn't actually have access to a time machine (spoilers!). However, given that Biff Tannen is pretty much his only major film role — and given the fact that the films are a cultural touchstone for an entire generation — fans are constantly approaching him to ask the same questions over and over. So in the spirit of "Back to the Future," Wilson has decided to save everyone time by printing up postcards with all the answers already pre-printed on them.

"I'm Tom Wilson," the postcard begins. "I was in all three "Back to the Future" movies. Michael J. Fox is nice. I'm not in close contact with him. Christopher Lloyd is nice. He is a very shy man. Crispin Glover is unusual, but not as unusual as he sometimes presents himself. We got along nicely. Lea Thompson is nice.

"I hold my co-workers in the best light," the postcard continues, "but I have no idea what any of them are doing right now."

And he also has answers to your questions about how the films were made.

"The hoverboards didn't really fly, we were hanging by wires from a crane. The manure was made from peat moss, cork, dirt and a food agent that made it sticky. The DeLorean was an inferior automobile and nearly impossible for a person of normal size like myself to enter and exit. There are many tiny plot points hidden in the movies, but I don't know what they are."

"Nobody had any idea that the movies would become a cultural touchstone," Wilson adds, "but the themes of friendship and adventure moved the audience so powerfully that I felt the need to create this postcard as a time-saver."

For most fans of the classic sci-fi trilogy "Back to the Future," the franchise's iconic numbers roll off the tongue just as easy as lines of dialogue: 1955, 2015, 88 miles per hour, 1.21 gigawatts. But now a new number may be joining that timeless lexicon: 42nd and Broadway.

Now that we're living in the future, we can see that there are a lot of things "Back to the Future" failed to predict, but this may be the biggest oversight of all. Deadline is reporting that director Robert Zemeckis is exploring the possibility of turning the series into a big time Broadway musical.

Biff Tannen is going to be soooo pissed.

Of course nothing is a done deal as yet, so don't start revving up your DeLorean just yet; Zemeckis is only in the earliest stages of discussions with "Back to the Future" co-writer Bob Gale and composer Alan Silvestri about the possibility to adapting Marty McFly's time traveling shenanigans into a Broadway show.

Given the success and popularity of movie-to-stage adaptations recently, though -- think "The Lion King," "Spamalot" or "Sister Act" -- we wouldn't count out the possibility of Doc Brown dancing his way into your heart sometime very soon. But hey, there's no rush.

After all, given the subject matter, they literally have all the time in the world.

He never learned to read or write so well, but Michael J. Fox can play his guitar just like ringing a bell.

That's the lesson he taught audiences at the A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Cure Parkinson's benefit in New York City where the actor wowed the crowd with a rocking rendition of Chuck Berry's classic hit "Johnny B. Goode."

Fox, who has been suffering with Parkinson's since 1991, reprised his classic performance of the song from "Back to the Future," in which Marty McFly gives some high-schoolers in 1955 an early introduction to the world of rock n' roll, complete with his bright red guitar and signature charisma.

However, unlike in the original film, in which Fox relied on other musicians to hammer out the tune for him while he simulated the performance on guitar, at the benefit, the actor not only played and sang the song himself, and in doing so, blew some of the night's other guests out of the water.

Proceeds from the evening, which included guests Ricky Gervais, Julianna Margulies, Rachael Ray, Kid Cudi, Ryan Reynolds and Elizabeth Berkley, benefitted the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Marty and Doc may not need roads where they're going. But lightsabers? Now that's a different story.

Forget everything you ever learned about "Back to the Future," because there's a brand new alternate ending making the internet rounds today -- and once you've gotten a look at the clip you'll understand why 88 miles per hour is now faster than the speed of light.

Fans of "Back to the Future" are, of course, quite familiar with the film's iconic ending, where Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) startles Marty (Michael J. Fox) by suddenly flying his Delorean up into the sky and beaming them to some distant time period. But given their habit of not necessarily ending up where -- or when -- they planned, what might happen if, instead of arriving in the future as shown in "Back to the Future Part II," the duo took a trip to a time long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away?

For decades, Hollywood has been promising us that in the future, we'll be able to do all sorts of amazing things. So far, though, there's still no sign of flying cars, personal clones, robot butlers or magic pills that unlock the full potential of our brain and/or reveal our lives to be the construction of a giant computer matrix.

Yes, it's been disappointing, but today, Hollywood has finally made good on perhaps their boldest promise yet: Marty McFly's self-lacing sneakers.

The future has finally arrived.

Here's some background (or is that foreground?): In the classic 1989 time travel epic "Back to the Future Part II," Marty (aka Michael J. Fox) found himself in the incredibly distant year of 2015. Besides all the flying cars and levitating skateboards and all the other stuff that is still nowhere to be found, McFly also came across a bit of inspired, futuristic product placement: A pair of Nike Air 2015 Kicks, super cool sneakers that lace themselves through the power of technology.

Now, according to Collider, that future has arrived four years early, as Nike is set to announce today that they are beginning production on the self-lacing Air Kicks, meaning that soon, all the comforts of a future where you don't have to spend eleven seconds tying your shoes will soon be yours.

Okay, so it's not quite a personal jetpack, but for film fans it's still pretty cool to see one of Hollywood's promises finally fulfilled. We're still waiting for them to develop a car that runs on garbage, of course, but until then, check out the first Nike Air 2015 Kicks commercial as well as a clip from "Back to the Future Part II" showing them in action:

The time-traveling DeLorean of "Back to the Future" fame is ready for its close up, because the sports car extraordinaire is racing across screens once again — in Owl City's new music video for "Deer in the Headlights."

This time, it's crooner Adam Young behind the wheel, who manages not only master his lyrics, but the flux capacitor and time travel controls as well. And yes, he does hit that crucial 88 miles per hour.

The aptly-titled video opens with the DeLorean blinking its (rather dated) headlights at Young… could it be flirting?

Young also skateboards, à la Marty McFly, and encounters… some floating jellyfish and, er, a giant dinosaur? OK, those might not be derived from the original flick, but we're loving them just the same.

As everyone knows, those geniuses at Pixar can take any object -- a bug, a fish, a mouse -- and animate it to make it look human, with a voice and a personality to match.

And of course, don't forget cars. Pixar's 2006 "Cars" was the studio's first movie to star entirely inanimate objects, and the gamble paid off with a booming box office, Lightning McQueen lunchboxes and pup tents, and kids clamoring to see the movie fix, six, twenty times.

"Cars 2" is about to hit theaters, but we're hungry for even more anthropomorphic vehicles -- and so we started wondering what other cars Pixar could animate (maybe for the next sequel?). What would the Landspeeder from "Star Wars" look like in a Pixar movie? Or "Transformers" scallywag Bumblebee?

Just when you think animated GIFs are an antiquated relic of Internet circa-1990s, someone comes up with a new and inventive idea that rejuvenates the medium.

The artist known only as Mr. Whaite decided to try his hand at creating the following neon movie ads, combining a love of film with 1960s pop art. It's hard to pick out a favorite among the lot, but we're partial to "Psycho," if only to see Norman Bates' "mother" slash through the title in beautiful meta goodness.

Seriously, though, we'll take these posters over the original ones released by the studios any day.

The new comedy "Take Me Home Tonight" celebrates the 1980s and all its excesses, from Mercedes-worship to Frankie Goes To Hollywood telling us all to relax.

The '80s was a time of rampant materialism and mohawks, and the only way people got through it -- like WWII -- was with laughter. 

In honor of Topher Grace's nostalgic comedy, we're celebrating the 25 most-uniquely only-in-the-80's comedies, the ones where the hair was froofy, Eddie Murphy still brought the funny, and the geek inherited the Earth. 

25. 'The Naked Gun' (1988)

The same team that made "Airplane!" decided to bring their anarchic brand of humor to the small screen with "Police Squad" (In Color), but the satire of TV cop shows only lasted a measly six episodes. After the show gained a cult following, the trio decided to resurrect Leslie Nielsen's accident-prone Lieutenant Frank Drebin to surprising success and a comedic trilogy, starting with this one. It involved a plot to have ballplayer Reggie Jackson assassinate Queen Elizabeth II, as well as Drebin's attempt to clear his partner of criminal charges. That partner is played by O.J. Simpson. 'Nuf said.
Best Line:  "Jane, since I've met you, I've noticed things that I never knew were there before... birds singing, dew glistening on a newly formed leaf, stoplights."  

24. 'Better Off Dead' (1985)

Before he auditioned to be Peter Gabriel's publicist by holding up that boombox outside Ione Skye's window in "Say Anything," a dough-faced young John Cusack was a geek du jour, particularly in the two camp masterpieces he made with writer/director Savage Steve Holland, "Better Off Dead" and "One Crazy Summer." While "Summer" has its moments, "Dead" helped define Cusack as the sympathetic everydork in his role as Lane Meyer, a nice guy who turns suicidal when his girlfriend dumps him and he can't deal with his absurdly dysfunctional family. With the help of best friend Curtis Armstrong, he reinvigorates his lust for life through a beautiful French foreign-exchange student, a ski competition, and various flights of imagination, including a hamburger singing Van Halen's "Everybody Wants Some!!"
Best Line: "I want my two dollars!"

23. 'Beverly Hills Cop' (1984)

Synthesizers. Shoulder pads. Yeah, this was the '80s. Detroit cop Axel Foley is a fish out of water in high-tone Beverly Hills, but his wise-guy attitude and willingness to bluff his way through any situation makes him Eddie Murphy's signature role. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer hit the sweet spot with the Number 1 movie of 1984, and concocted his winning formula of action, comedy, and music video style that would give birth to Michael Bay a decade later. Murphy somehow took a script written for Sylvester Stallone and made it his own with snappy improvised one-liners like…
Best Line: "Disturbing the peace? I got thrown out of a window! What's the charge for getting pushed out of a moving car, huh? Jaywalking?" 

22. 'Can’t Buy Me Love' (1987)

Before he was Dr. McDreamy, "Grey's Anatomy" star Patrick Dempsey was giving the Coreys a run for their money as teen-hearthrob-of-the-moment in this 1987 comedy. He plays a (suspiciously handsome) nerd who, in true sociopath fashion, takes advantage of popular cheerleader Amanda Peterson's dire straights and offers her $1000 to pretend to be his girlfriend. Look for an early Seth Green appearance, plus bonus '80s points for using Billy Idol's "Dancin' with Myself" on the soundtrack. This was recently remade with Nick Cannon as "Love Don't Co$t a Thing," while "Easy A" took their "riding lawnmower into sunset" ending.
Best Line: "I mean, he went from totally geek, to totally chic!" 

21. 'Revenge of the Nerds' (1984)

The movie that DEFINED nerd culture. Clearly neither the kung-fu coolness of his brother David, nor the musical hipness of his bro Keith rubbed off on Robert Carradine, who embodies dorkiness incarnate as Lewis Skolnick. Skolnick's dweebiness is matched by future "ER" MD Anthony Edwards as Gilbert, and the go-to '80s comedy guber Curtis Armstrong ("Risky Business," "Better Off Dead") as Booger, while they face off against the ruthless jockocracy at their university. It's brains vs. brawn!
Best Line: "NERDS!"

20. 'The Breakfast Club' (1985)

Universal

Five disparate high school students in detention: a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. No it's not a trendy reality show, it's John Hughes' teen angst magnum opus, the film that made him the defining voice of the MTV generation. Their Saturday afternoon locked in the Shermer High library leads to antics, but also soul searching and moving beyond stereotypes to some greater mutual understanding. Unfortunately, by the end Anthony Michael Hall is the only one without a date. We won't forget about you, Anthony.
Best Line: "Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?" 

19. 'Weird Science' (1985)

Universal

Since breaking into secret government files was way easier during the '80s era of the internet, ultra-dorks Anthony Michael Hall and Ilan Mitchell-Smith use a PC with a dial-up modem to somehow create the girl of their dreams, played by Kelly "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful" LeBrock. Having their own live-in sex goddess turns out to be more than they bargained for, and the naïve boys somehow learn about self-confidence and stuff. Dig that crazy themesong by Oingo Boingo, whose frontman Danny Elfman later became the house band for Tim Burton movies.
Best Line: "If you ever get the chance, shower with them. I did. Mmm, it's a mindscrambler. Hurts so good." 

18. 'Risky Business' (1983)

Warner Bros

Sure, there's Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear, and, yes, he does turn his house into a brothel while his parents are out of town, but this is serious business. Writer/Director Paul Brickman made the unusual choice to shoot and score his teen sex comedy like some kind of French art movie, and despite its wild reputation this flick has much more in common with "The Graduate" than "Porky's." Looking back, "Risky Business" defines the capitalism run amok of the Reagan-era better than "Wall Street," and Rebecca De Mornay made a ride on the Chicago L train very appealing.
Best Line: "I am NOT the house." 

17. 'Trading Places' (1983)

Paramount

Eddie Murphy had just scored a hit with his movie debut in "48 Hours," but "Trading Places" was his first out-and-out comedy smash. John Landis directs his Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd as a stuck-up douchenozzle who loses his job as a commodities broker to a wise-crackin' street hustler (Murphy) after his bosses make a wager. Jamie Lee Curtis is the original hooker with a heart of gold, who helps Aykroyd and Murphy get revenge. This film actually formed the basis of a Wall Street regulation known as the "Eddie Murphy Rule," which deals with insider trading.
Best Line: "Hey, baby, what's happening? How are ya doing? Once you have a man with no legs, you never go back, baby." 

16. 'National Lampoon's Vacation' (1983)

Warner Bros

Harold Ramis continued his streak as reigning creative genius of '80s comedy by directing John Hughes' script for the first of many vacation adventures for the Griswold family. Chevy Chase's bumbling Clark Griswold is in many ways the forerunner to Homer Simpson, the great American dolt who brings one disaster after another, despite good intentions. Their trip to Disneyla… er, Wally World leaves a trail of destruction along the Midwest, from a dead aunt to a terrorist attack on a theme park. Uptown girl Christy Brinkley makes a memorable impression as the Ferrari-driving dream girl.
Best Line: "I'm gonna have fun and you're gonna have fun. We're all gonna have so much f**king fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles." 

15. 'When Harry Met Sally' (1989)

Columbia

New York's legendary Katz's Deli in the East Village became immortalized when Meg Ryan decided to fake a Big O in the middle of their crowded restaurant opposite Billy Crystal. Guess that makes it okay for them to charge $17 for a sandwich now, right? Director Rob Reiner and writer Nora Ephron basically took the Woody Allen formula of pithy NYC intellectuals + romantic neuroses and streamlined it for mass consumption, but this parable about male/female friendship still sparkles with wit and fabulous chemistry. 
Best Line: "I'll have what she's having."  

14. 'Airplane!' (1980)

Paramount

Fresh off "Kentucky Fried Movie," the wackypants team of ZAZ (David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker) channeled the satiric gag-a-second spirit of MAD Magazine with this spoof of all-star disaster movies. Robert Hays plays a traumatized former pilot onboard a plane to win back his girlfriend (Julie Hagerty), but when the fish dinner fells the crew, he's forced to pilot the aircraft come hell or high comedy. The real stroke of genius was hiring veteran character actors like Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, and Leslie Nielsen to spout absurd lines ("And don't call me Shirley") with dead seriousness.
Best Line: "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines." 

13. 'Beetlejuice' (1988)

Warner Bros

The ghost with the most gave us a guided tour of the afterlife, and introduced us all to the pleasures of a good calypso tune. Michael Keaton arguably reached the peak of his manic abilities, giving the most wild and unhinged performance of his career as the titular bio-exorcist who agrees to help a pair of ghosts (a really skinny Alec Baldwin and a still-hirable Geena Davis) to rid their home of the living. Tim Burton clearly had a field day playing in the world of the dead, like some kid in a goth candy store.
Best Line: "Go ahead... make my millennium." 

12. 'Stripes' (1981)

Columbia

Writer Harold Ramis and director Ivan Reitman clearly understood what made the best Marx Brothers movies work: You put those lunatics somewhere very stodgy and respectful (the opera, university, etc) and let the insanity ensue. Now where could you put Bill Murray where he would cause the most trouble? THE ARMY. Murray's John Winger is a New York slacker who just can't get his act together, and who convinces his best friend (Ramis) to join the military with him on a whim. Basic training turns into an ordeal between the sassy, disrespectful Winger and Warren Oates' discipline-obsessed drill sergeant Hulka.
Best Line: "No, we're not homosexual, but we are willing to learn." 

11. 'Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure' (1985)

Warner Bros

Paul Reubens had been performing some iteration of his man-child persona Pee-Wee Herman since the late '70s, but with the help of weirdo animator Tim Burton (making his feature directorial debut) he launched Pee-Wee into the pantheon of '80s pop culture icons with this movie. A deranged play on Vittorio De Sica's "Bicycle Thieves," it tells the story of Pee Wee's cross-country quest to find his precious stolen bike, during which he meets a motorcycle gang, the ghost of a dead trucker, a starry-eyed waitress, and Milton Berle. A cameo by Twisted Sister confirms the deep '80s-ness of the whole thing, but Reubens' dance to "Tequila" is for the ages.
Best Line: "You don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel." 

10. 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' (1989)

Orion Pictures

Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter launched their way into superstardom (well, one of them did) with this rollicking blend of "Time Bandits" meets "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." The title duo are a pair of California airheads who get George Carlin to loan them a time machine so they can collect famous historical figures like Abraham Lincoln and Genghis Khan for their school report. "Bill and Ted" is pure bliss, so long as we pretend the aptly titled sequel ("Bogus Journey") never existed.
Best Line: "San Dimas High School football rules!" 

9. 'Big' (1988)

Twentieth Century Fox

Rival studio executives must have made a drunken bet, since the tail-end of the '80s saw an inexplicable string of body-switching comedies, including "Like Father Like Son" (Kirk Cameron), "Vice Versa" (Fred Savage), and "18 Again!" (George Burns). All of them made you want to switch bodies with a dead person. From out of the muck came the mighty "Big," towering above the rest with its charming story of a young boy who doesn't so much switch bodies as become an adolescent in an adult's body, probably what he'll look like in 20 years. Lucky for him he looks like future double-Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, who played giant piano "Heart and Soul" straight into our… heart and soul. Lucky kid, at least he didn't look like Steve Guttenberg.
Best Line: "Shimmy, shimmy, cocoa pop. Shimmy, shimmy, rock. Shimmy, shimmy, cocoa pop. Shimmy, shimmy, rock." 

8. 'Sixteen Candles' (1984)

Making his directorial debut in the first of his series of loosely connected movies taking place in fictional Shermer, Illinois, John Hughes made the unusual step of making his alienated protagonist a young girl (Molly Ringwald) whose family forgets her birthday. Even though there's a wild party, and the immortally "un-PC" Long Duk Dong (to put it, uh, kindly), Hughes is clearly inspired by a Hallmark card/Norman Rockwell mentality towards adolescent turmoil, with much sweetness permeating the raunch. This is also the movie that made Ringwald the aspiration poster girl for a generation of young women, and the fantasy of many young men.
Best Line: "I can't believe I gave my panties to a geek." 

7. 'Ghostbusters' (1984)

When somebody asks you if Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson are movie gods you say "YES"! Those four gents crossed the streams into pop culture legend as the paranormal eliminators for whom "no job is too big, no fee is too big." Between "Back to the Future," "Real Genius," and this sci-fi comedy classic, the '80s were clearly the era of mad scientist chic. If you don't know every line of this movie by heart, don't know Stay Puft from a hole in the ground, then you were clearly in some coma or state of pre-birth for this entire decade.

6. 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' (1982)

This protoype for the 1980s coming-of-age film first sprang from sneaky Rolling Stone writer Cameron Crowe's time spent enrolled undercover at a high school, turning his experience into a book, then a screenplay. The ensemble overlaps into three different plots surrounding a nice guy (Judge Reinhold) who can't hold down a job, a naïve freshman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who gets an abortion, and a perpetually stoned surfer dude (Sean Penn) who only needs some tasty waves and a cool buzz to be fine.
Best Line: "Hey bud, let's party!" 

5. 'This is Spinal Tap' (1984)

When it comes to '80s comedy, this one goes to 11. A chronicle of the waning British heavy metal group Spinal Tap as infighting, mismanagement, and general stupidity threaten to sink their career. One of the first films to perfect the mockumentary subgenre, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer improvised most of the loosely-scripted proceedings, and returned to this format a decade later for a trilogy of fake docs starting with "Waiting for Guffman." Despite an initial lukewarm reception, "Spinal Tap" has become a classic, synonymous with many of the pretentious groups of the '70s, '80s and 90s. Eddie Van Halen actually said, "Everything in that movie had happened to me."
Best Line: "If I told them once I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last." 

4. 'Coming to America' (1988)

John Landis re-teamed with Eddie Murphy for what may be the high point of both their careers, in which Eddie plays a good-natured prince of the fictitious African nation of Zamunda. To avoid an arranged marriage, the prince (along with trusty servant Arsenio Hall) travels to New York for the perfect place to find a queen… Queens! This was the test-run for Murphy's now-stand-by schtick of playing multiple characters in funny makeup, including a barber, an old Jewish man, and of course Mr. Randy Watson of the band Sexual Chocolate… SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!
Best Line: "The royal penis is clean, your highness." 

3. 'Caddyshack' (1980)

This "Cinderella story" once again tells the immortal tale of slobs versus snobs, a tale screenwriters Harold Ramis and Doug Kenney had successfully told two years prior for "Animal House." Here they traded college for golf by teaming up with former caddy Brian Doyle-Murray (and his little bro Bill) to turn a picturesque country club into pure pandemonium. The highly improvised (emphasis on the word "high") dialogue between superstars like Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase paved the way for the Judd Apatow bunch of today.
Best Line: "Last time I saw a mouth like that, it had a hook in it." 

2. 'Back to the Future' (1985)

What isn't '80s about the greatest time travel comedy of all time? You've got Pepsi Free, a suped-up DeLorean, and HUEY LEWIS! Most '80s comedies based around teenagers typically involved the lead trying to pop his cherry with some hot babe, but this one takes it to the next level by making the babe the kid's mother. Sheesh, talk about family ties. You've also got Marvin Berry's band smokin' reefer, Biff attempting to rape Lorraine, and Doc Brown buying plutonium from Middle Eastern terrorists, all rated "PG"! Imagine this film getting made today, say with Michael J. Fox's fellow Canadian Justin Bieber… oh that's right, you can't, because it would never happen. We love you, '80s.
Best Line: "So, why don't you make like a tree and get outta here?" 

1. 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' (1986)

John Hughes just couldn't do anything within his powers to keep Mr. Bueller and friends from playing hookie on such a lovely day. There's something refreshing about the wholesomeness of Hughes' vision, where the most scandalous thing he can imagine teenagers skipping school for is going to a museum, lip synching to "Danke Schön" in a parade, or posing as The Sausage King of Chicago at a restaurant. Clearly he hadn't seen "Less Than Zero" yet. In the ensuing years no one has broken the fourth wall quite as convincingly as Matthew Broderick, given killer lines to espouse to the audience, including the immortal refrain…
Best Line: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

The Chuck Taylor All-Star has been around almost as long as film itself. First created in 1917, it at least predates "the talkie." 

Since Converse first slapped canvas and rubber together to create the shoe, it has been worn everywhere from the basketball court to the Oscars.  It still remains an unchanging staple of fashion and never seems to have faded from the public eye. 

So you would imagine there's probably a lot of films that feature a lot of characters wearing these sneakers. You would be right.  The Chucks Connection is your guide to this phenomenon, featuring every movie that ever had Chucks in it, from 1961's "The Absent Minded Professor" to 1985's "The Zoo Gang" and hudrends of movies in between.

This year proved another great year for high profile DVD and Blu-ray releases, and what better time to run through the 2010's highlights than during holiday shopping mania?

Some of the films on this list are Blu-ray debuts, some are fan favorites packaged with collectible gewgaws and one set is a whopper too big to ignore. They all have one undeniable thing in common: someone you know wants one of them wrapped with a bow.

9. Clint Eastwood: 35 Films, 35 Years

Make someone's day with this handsome collection of Eastwood's 35-year relationship with Warner Bros. -- from "Where Eagles Dare" through "Invictus." Included in the set are the octogenarian's "Dirty Harry" movies, Oscar-bait films like "Mystic River" and "Million Dollar Baby," Westerns like "Pale Rider" and "Unforgiven," and many more. The set also features the acclaimed documentary "The Eastwood Factor," which offers a rare intimate look at the actor and director. Although some of the films packaged here are available individually on Blu-ray, this complete set can only be had on DVD.

8. Psycho: 50^th Anniversary Edition

We all go a little bit mad sometimes, especially for Norman Bates in high definition. Alfred Hitchcock's seminal thriller starring Anthony Perkins and Janet Leigh has been released on DVD in several versions, but none are more impressive than this remastered 50^th anniversary edition that flawlessly reproduces the inky blacks of the shadows surrounding the Bates Motel and the sound of the screeching violins during the shower attack with a new DTS-HD 5.1 surround mix.

The BD is packed with a fruit cellar's worth of extras, including making-of featurettes, archive footage, a feature-length documentary, a look at Hitchcock's legacy and more.

7. Avatar: Extended Collector's Edition

If you can't get enough of the phosphorescent world of Pandora featured in James Cameron's sci-fi blockbuster, this edition of "Avatar"—available on both DVD and Blu-ray—blows away the barebones versions released earlier this year. This extended edition features three different cuts of the movie as well as eight hours of supplements, including 45 minutes of deleted scenes, interactive scene deconstruction, "Pandorapedia" and exhaustive making-of featurettes. The Blu-ray even has hidden Easter eggs that allow users with sweet setups to view the film's trailer and "Pandora Rediscovered," narrated by Sigourney Weaver, in 3D.

6. Inception Briefcase Gift Set

You are not dreaming—Warner Bros. released a limited edition (fewer than 2,000 units) of "Inception" exclusively on WBShop.com that is worth seeking out on eBay now that they are sold out. The DVD and Blu-ray of Christopher Nolan's mindbender are the same as those available for individual sale, but the discs in this gift set are housed in a silver briefcase with art cards, "The Cobol Job" comic, a PASIV manual replica and a replica of Leonardo DiCaprio's totem—the spinning metal top.

5. Apocalypse Now: Full Disclosure Edition

"The horror…the horror," mutters Marlon Brando toward the end of Francis Ford Coppola's 1979 Vietnam War epic, but the actor didn't live to see this impressive Blu-ray debut that contains the original theatrical cut as well as the extended "Apocalypse Now Redux." The new transfers were supervised by Coppola and mark the first time the film has been presented on disc in its proper aspect ratio.

In addition to all the exhaustive extras ported over from the previous incarnations of the film on disc, this Full Disclosure Edition includes the feature-length documentary "Hearts of Darkness," a 48-page collectible book with never-before-seen archive photos, a 52-page script excerpt with notes written by Coppola, a storyboard gallery and marketing archives.

4. Alien Anthology

In space, no one can hear you scream, but fans of Sigourney Weaver's Lt. Ellen Ripley can be heard everywhere clamoring for the Blu-ray debuts of "Alien," "Aliens," Alien3" and "Alien: Resurrection" — each presented with a theatrical version and an extended or director's cut. The extensive bonus features from the previous DVD quadrilogy are ported over here as well as hours of new bonus material, like Weaver's original screen test, unseen deleted scenes and thousands of still photographs from the Fox archives. H.R. Giger's monster with acid for blood and a double jaw that gestates in human host is the stuff of nightmares, but fans will still dream of having this set's discs housed in a replica Alien pod, which is also available.

3. Fox 75^th Anniversary Collection

If there is one collection of movies to rule them all this holiday season, this 75-film massive set binds them. Each of the three volumes included here highlights 25 years of Fox's legacy and includes an exclusive hardcover book. The set has everything from blockbusters to Oscar winners to classics, including "South Pacific," "Star Wars," "Alien," "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," "The Devil Wear Prada," "All About Eve," "Planet of the Apes," "The French Connection," "Working Girl," "Wall Street," "Moulin Rouge," "X-Men," "Slumdog Millionaire," "Avatar" and many more. The only way this collection — which will set you back about $360 — could be more impressive is if Fox also made it available on Blu-ray. For that, there's always next Christmas.

2. The Goonies 25^th Anniversary Collector's Edition

"Goonies 'r' still good enough" for fans of Richard Donner's classic 1985 adventure, but this collector's edition —available on either DVD or Blu-ray — is even better. Both versions contain director and cast commentary, a making-of documentary, deleted scenes and the two-part music video “Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” by Cyndi Lauper. The real booty includes a "Goonies" board game, storyboards, a reprint of "Empire" Magazine's "Goonies" reunion, a reprint of the original "Goonies" souvenir magazine and even a sheet of "Goonies" temporary tattoos.

1. Back to the Future: 25^th Anniversary Trilogy

"Great Scott!" Although the "Back to the Future" trilogy starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd has been available for some time on DVD, this Blu-ray debut with its restored picture and sound elements is nearly future-proof.

All three movies are loaded with extras from the previous editions and enhanced with BD-exclusive bells and whistles, including the U-Control interactive viewing option, a BD-Live portal to online supplements and D-Box motion capability for those with chairs that will allow viewers to feel every bump in the road along with Fox's DeLorean.

Remember the original "Superman" movie where Christopher Reeve flies backwards around the world to turn back time?  Now imagine he did it using a tricked out 1981 DMC-12 DeLorean.

Yeah, "Back to the Future" director Robert Zemeckis can't picture it either.

Zemeckis, who was rumored to be a contender for the director's chair on the upcoming Man of Steel reboot, told MTV News, "I passed on that faster than a speeding bullet. Don't trust everything you read on the Internet!"

Hard to picture the man from Krypton leaping tall buildings in a sleeveless red down jacket, so it's probably for the best.

It's been 25 years since Marty McFly traveled back in time on Oct. 25, 1985, and it makes you wonder… they must have saved the clock tower by now, right? Even if they haven't, one thing still works gangbusters: "Back to the Future."

During an era of raunchy teen sex comedies like "Porky's" and "Weird Science," director Robert Zemeckis made a movie that was both timelessly wholesome and subtly irreverent, a comedy-adventure that fires on all cylinders. From the opening moments of Marty (Michael J. Fox) in Doc's (Christopher Lloyd) lab blowing out the world's biggest amplifier, we know we're watching a work of off-kilter brilliance.

The concept of a teen traveling back in time only to wind up in an oedipal love triangle with his parents took a lot of nerve, but watching the now-classic movie years later it's remarkable how a conceivably squirm-inducing idea could be pulled off with such easy-breezy charm. Just watch Fox's face during any scene where he's confronted by Lea Thompson's Lorraine and the sheer anxiety rippling through him at seeing his haggard mother turned into a seething teen sexpot -- priceless.

Lloyd as Doc Brown is the Eighth Wonder of the World, a madcap scientist whose every movement has enough propulsive energy to power the Hoover Dam. Writers Zemeckis and Bob Gale's greatest miracle is making the relationship between laid-back teen Marty and borderline-psychotic old man Doc not only believable, but in the final act genuinely touching. Great Scott!

Of course Marty and Doc's adventures weren't over, and "Back to the Future" Parts "II" and "III" are dazzling in their own right. "Part II" took what could have been a routine rehash and made the quantum leap of using time travel to go all Rosencrantz and Guildenstern on us, diving into the original film's 1955 from a whole new angle.

The third film is a humdinger of a western romp where Doc finds Mary Steenburgen's Clara, a mate so perfect for him you'd think they had Match.com in 1885. We also see Marty trying to prove Clint Eastwood ain't "the biggest yellowbelly in the west." Somewhere in between you've got hoverboards, Indians, and "eat lead, slackers!"

The new Blu-ray set of the trilogy will give the generation raised on X-Box and iPods a chance to experience "Back to the Future" for the first time, and even though Marty may listen to Van Halen and drink Pepsi Free, he hasn't aged a day.

Extras! The set includes pristine new transfers with loads of bonus features, including a six-part retrospective documentary and that never-before-seen footage of Eric Stoltz as Marty which has been locked somewhere below the Earth's crust for two decades.

It's almost 2015, and we still don’t have flying cars, time machines or hoverboards, but the "Back To The Future" trilogy still rocks our world.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the first installment and the new trilogy Blu-ray release, Michael J. Fox, Lea Thompson, Christopher Lloyd and Mary Steenburgen -- plus singer Huey Lewis, writer-director Robert Zemeckis, producer Neil Canton and writer-producer Bob Gale -- reunited in Manhattan today to travel back in time to the making of this iconic '80s flick.

"To be associated with a film that just flat-out makes people happy is such a blessing and a tremendous privilege, and I'll always be grateful for it," stated Fox, who starred as Marty McFly. "People's eyes light up when they talk about it. I've been in Asia, Africa, Europe and even Bhutan; people know the movie there. It's just an amazing thing."

"The thing that created the phenomenon is the way the title of the movie has become part of the lexicon of the world," noted Zemeckis. "It's used to describe anything that is the past becoming the present or the old turning new. It has captured the imagination of the world."

Some vintage items from the set recently went on the auction block to raise money for Fox’s Foundation For Parkinson's Research, while some pieces came from Gale’s personal collection.

Thompson confessed she still has her pink prom dress.

"Every Halloween my kids try it on," she revealed. "I'm like, 'No, you can't wear that to a party.'"

Fox lamented not snagging the guitar he rocked out with when performing "Johnny B. Goode" at the climax of the first movie.

"I was so stupid to not buy that, and that little yellow Chiquita when the amp blows Marty back," he said. "I have some shoes and maybe some other stuff. I'm still tired from the movie. Does that count as a souvenir?"

(Fox filmed the first movie while also starring in TV's "Family Ties" and was exhausted by the experience.)

Lloyd almost didn't take the part of Doc Brown. "When I was offered the script I didn't want to read it because I had a theater job that was offered to me back East, and I wanted to go back to where my roots were," he admitted. At a friend's urging, he read the screenplay. "And here I am." Good call.

Some fans have memories that are not quite what they used to be. "I [once] got a call from a major reporter from a major outlet who swore there was a scene where Marty was smoking weed with Marvin Berry and the band," recalled Zemeckis. "He said, 'Did the censors make you cut that out for the DVD release? I know I saw that because I saw the movie in the theater.' I said, 'Were you high?' [He replied,] 'I might have been.'"

The talent gets to experience the movie in a new way when they show it to their kids. Many of them get to gauge how it holds up today both in terms of story and visual effects, which were state of the art for the time. 

Thompson said her kids love the story and the effects, while Fox had to explain to his children, who like the movie, how the effects were not done digitally like today and were more physically demanding.

"They see Travelers Insurance commercials with tigers riding on the backs of hippos and doves interacting with crocodiles," he said. "Back then those visual victories took a lot of work."

"I always think it's funny when my daughter's friends say, 'You were so hot when you were in 'Back To The Future!','" beamed Thompson. "It's peculiar for me because I did play Lorraine [Marty's mom] at 17 and 47, and I'm just a little over that age right now, so it's an interesting experience because people still recognize me.”

 The actors agreed that being associated with the iconic film and series is all good. Fox and Thompson in particular stated that they have never gotten better parts. And there are other perks.

"I love being in Bhutan and someone going, 'McFly!'" quipped Fox. "It's fantastic and such a great honor."

Fans jonesing for something new will be excited that the new videogame "Back To The Future: The Game" is coming soon, with Lloyd and Gale involved. But don't expect any new cinematic adventures from Marty McFly and Doc Brown.

"We don't want to do a part four," Gale insisted. "We don't want to remake it with somebody else. We've seen franchises that have gone back to the well one or two times too many. We love 'Back To The Future' the way it is, and we don't want to screw around with the space-time continuum."

Can you picture Captain Jack Sparrow behind the wheel of a DeLorean?

The makers of "Back to the Future" apparently couldn't. Hot on the heels of the much-discussed "Eric Stoltz as Marty McFly" footage that's featured on the upcoming "25th Anniversary Trilogy" Blu-ray and DVD collection comes word from co-writer Bob Gale on a few other contenders for the role.

In an interview with Premium Hollywood, Gale reveals that both Johnny Depp and John Cusack read for Marty McFly. However, the former apparently failed to make much of an impression.

"I don't remember the screen test," says Gale. "I looked through the notes, and I said, 'Geez, I don't even remember that we read Johnny Depp!' So whatever he did, it wasn't all that memorable, I guess!"

Poor young Johnny -- he probably thought he was going to be stuck as "the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' boyfriend" forever.

Bob Gale also reveals that Jeff Goldblum was strongly considered for the role of Doc Brown, though someone at Universal probably looked into a crystal ball and realized that going from Doc Brown to Seth Brundle in "The Fly" would be too traumatic for the universe to handle.

"Back to the Future: The 25th Anniversary Trilogy" hits shelves Oct. 26.

It’s hard to picture anyone else playing the anxiety-ridden, hoverboard-riding time-traveler Marty McFly that actor Michael J. Fox brought to life. 

But, as this behind-the-scenes clip from the new "Back to the Future" 25th Anniversary Blu-ray shows us, the trilogy’s starring role originally went to Eric Stoltz.  Great Scott!

Director Robert Zemeckis was already under tight time constraints and filmed with Stoltz for several weeks before finally deciding to fire the actor because he wasn’t working out in the role. 

"He’s a magnificent actor but his comedy sensibilities were very different than what I had written with Bob [Gale] and he and I were just never able to make that work," Zemeckis recounts.  "So I had to make this horrific decision which was very heartbreaking for everybody, but luckily I was able to convince the studio to let me reshoot five weeks of work."

"Back to the Future" is heading back to theaters in the future. It's, like, so meta.

Doc Brown's time-traveling Delorean first raced onto the big screen in 1985’s instant classic, and now the joy ride is back for another round.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this smash-hit, AMC Theatres is re-releasing the film for two special screenings on 158 screens in more than 40 cities nationwide.

That’s right. On Saturday, Oct. 23, at 12:30 p.m. and Monday, Oct. 25, at 7:00 p.m., fans across the country can settle into their seats, nosh a bag of popcorn and have a good, old-fashioned movie experience.

If that’s not enough to get you to the theater, all ticketed guests will receive a full-sized poster commemorating the special limited release of the movie (while supplies last, of course), and every participating theater will run movie-related giveaways leading up to the screenings.

No, this isn’t 3-D. It’s not even CGI. It’s just a simple story about a guy – an adorable Michael J. Fox, no less – who accidentally travels 30 years back in time and narrowly escapes hooking up with his own mother in a quest to prevent being erased from history forever.

If that’s not a film worth hopping in a time machine for, we don’t know what is.
