Michael Fassbender Heeds the Call of 'Assassin's Creed'
Michael Fassbender has fought epic battles in the eras of the Cuban Missile Crisis of the 1960s ("X-Men: First Class"), World War II in the '40s ("Inglourious Basterds") and the Persian invasion of 480 BC ("300"). Now one of our favorite actors gets to exercise his time-jumping warrior's heart in the big screen version of videogame series "Assassin's Creed," which Variety says Fassbender will both star in and co-produce through his DMC Film banner.
The four games in the series have sold 30-million copies since 2007, with a fifth, confusingly titled "Assassin's Creed III," due out this October. Get More »
Oh Boy, More Movies Based On Video Games
Let's face it: most movies based on video games are kinda crappy. Sure, there are some exceptions, like "Tomb Raider" and the "Resident Evil" films, but even those aren't exactly high art.
The reason is pretty simple: watching someone else play a video game is never as fun as actually playing it yourself. Just watch "Max Payne" if you don't believe us.
Still, despite this proven fact, Hollywood continues to try and capture the gamer crowd.
