8 Badass Movie Easter Eggs

The Dark Knight Easter Egg

The Easter Bunny arrives this Sunday, April 8! Though it's actually a religious holiday, our favorite part of Easter has always been painting Easter eggs (well, and eating Peeps until we throw up).

But this year, maybe it's time to get a little more ... interesting with your artwork.

Courtesy of Old Red Jalopy, we present eight movie-inspired Easter eggs that have just a little bit more edge than your standard variety stripes and polka dots. The Easter Bunny won't know what hit him.

Ridley Scott Reveals the Missing Link Between 'Alien' and 'Prometheus'

20th Century Fox

The plot of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' has been kept fairly secret since it's appeared on our radar like a looming planet in the sky. Is it a sequel to the seminal sci-fi film 'Alien'? Is it a prequel? Is it just in the same universe? What the frak?

Scott's spilled a bean or two recently, and while it's only a small detail, we're sucking it up like a hungry face-hugger. The first link between the two movies is Guy Pearce's character, a businessman who owns the ship Prometheus. Get More »

9 Ladies Who Could Kick Your Ass. Hard.

Underworld: Awakening
Screen Gems

Looking good is one thing. Looking good and kicking ass simultaneously is quite another, as Kate Beckinsale has proved time and time again in the "Underworld" movies. You think wearing that skin-tight leather bodysuit while leaping, running, shooting automatic weapons and beating Lycans to a pulp is easy? Have you ever tried it?

In honor of Beckinsale's newest ass-kicking showcase, "Underworld: Awakening," not to mention former MMA star Gina Carano's buzzed-about turn in "Haywire" -- and just to be sure we don't piss either of them off -- we tip our hats to nine female characters we wouldn't want to cross.

Next to these babes, we'd be toast. Get More »

My Favorite Movie: Thomas Haden Church

"That requires no pondering. My absolute, never get sick of watching it, if I happen to go by it on the box, wherever it is in the movie I will watch the rest of the movie, it's so intoxicating whether it's one minute in or 100 minutes in I have to see it, and that would be the original 'Alien' from 1979.

"It's almost a flawlessly crafted gothic thriller set in space with amazingly etched characters … and the acting is so seamless and so measured."

Thomas Haden Church can currently be seen as Matt Damon's brother Duncan in the Cameron Crowe dramedy "We Bought a Zoo."

Hearing People Scream in Space: The Supercut

One of Hollywood's most celebrated taglines, from the Ridley Scott classic "Alien," tells us:  "In space, no one can hear you scream."

But anyone who's ever seen a proper sci-fi thriller will tell you that's not true at all.

Just watch "Event Horizon." Or "Sunshine." Or the brand new space haunter "Apollo 18." Even "Alien" itself.

So to all you future space travelers, use the footage above as a cautionary tale. Intergalactic exploration is f**king scary. And chances are there will be screaming. Lots and lots of screaming.

Movies Included (Click to Buy):

Galaxy Quest | Event Horizon | Black Hole | The Right Stuff | Planet of Vampires | Total Recall | Alien Resurrection | Armageddon | Sunshine | Alien 3 | Alien | Space Mutiny | Independence Day | Mission to Mars | Dark Star | Fire and Sky | Jason X | Wing Commander | 2001: A Space Odyssey | Supernova | Pandorum

Girls With Guns: The Shooting Gallery

Hot chicks with guns. Is there anything sexier?

Yes, of course there is. Lingerie models come to mind. Bikinis. Maybe some sort of naughty teacher scenario. But if you're one of those socially maladjusted guys [raises hand] that can only express your suppressed sexuality through the heroine avatars of your favorite violent video game, then you'll want to check out "Colombiana" (in theaters Aug. 26), starring Zoe Saldana.

And if you absolutely require more ammo-fueled feminism, we've made a list of film's 20 hottest pistol-totin' babes, just for you.

Sigourney Weaver Talks 'Avatar' and Ripley, Believe It Or Not

You might think that after more than three decades of talking about her iconic role of Ellen Ripley in the "Alien" films, Sigourney Weaver would be sick of it all.

But as she revealed in an extensive new interview with Moviefone, Weaver not only isn't tired of Ripley, she's actually hoping to get one last shot at James Cameron's interstellar monsters -- because she's convinced she "could definitely kick that alien's ass again."

And that's not all Weaver had to say about Cameron, "Alien" and "Avatar" when she sat down to discuss the 25th anniversary of "Aliens," still one of the most popular sequels in movie history. Get More »

Charlize Theron Boarding 'Alien' Prequel?

Getty Images

Looks like Charlize Theron might be swapping out the kind of monster that shoots men for the type that bleeds acid and lays babies in your chest.

That's right, lovely Charlize is being courted like a Southern belle by 20th Century Fox to take a role originally earmarked for Michelle Yeoh in the "Alien" prequel, but getting her to sign on the dotted line ain't gonna be a dance around the maypole.

According to Vulture, the scripted part of "a fortysomething, tough-but-sexy crew member" named Vickers is being beefed up and tailored to the Academy Award-winner's liking. She's also presumably demanded a hundred sheep from the finest stock in all the valley, and exotic spices from faraway continents. Get More »

'Alien' Prequel Won't Hatch Until 2013?

In space, no one can hear you scream, but you can hear us roaring in frustration now that Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequel may be delayed until 2013.

According to Scriptflags, the otherworldly sci-fi horrorfest was due to begin principal photography in February, with "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" star Noomi Rapace duking it out against "Girl With the Neon Suit" Olivia Wilde for the lead role of a Colonial Marine general, presumably a "no-nonsense" one with a giant gun.
