Trailer: Everything's Bigger in Texas, Especially Chainsaw Massacres

Lionsgate

You wouldn't think there was much new you could do with a franchise like "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," especially after nearly four decades of sequels, prequels and spinoffs. After all, the premise is pretty much all right there in the title: A guy from Texas massacres people with a chainsaw. It's just not that complicated.

But as far as Lionsgate is concerned, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, which is why the trailer for "Texas Chainsaw 3D" features a lot of chainsaws, a lot of massacres and a lot of Texas, not necessarily in that order.

Sometimes it pays to keep it simple. Get More »

Sure He Can Rap, But Can Trey Songz Play the 'Chainsaw?'

Over the years, the many iterations of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise have boasted a number of famous names. Renee Zellweger. Matthew McConaughey. Leatherface. And now it appears that the brand new remake of the 1974 original will boast its own famous name:

Trey Songz.

Wait, Trey Songz? Yes, as random as that sounds, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the Grammy nominated R&B singer will be making his acting debut in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." I guess now we know what inspired the "pain" portion of his last album, "Passion, Pain and Pleasure." Get More »

We'll soon find out how well Alexandra Daddario can scream.

The "Percy Jackson & the Olympians" star is set to join the hallowed ranks of Scream Queens as she takes on the lead role in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D," according to Variety.

This new "Texas Chainsaw" isn't a sequel to the 2003 remake starring Jessica Biel but is rather a reboot of sorts, taking place shortly after the events of the original 1974 film. The new adventures of Leatherface and his bizarre and dangerous family will be directed by John Luessenhop ("Takers"). Get More »

'Percy Jackson' Returning to Fight Another Epic Battle

Fox

When 20th Century Fox dropped "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" a year ago, it didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Like "Harry Potter," it was based on a popular piece of fantasy kid lit and ushered to the screen by Chris Columbus, but any expectations of capturing lightning in a bottle twice were dashed by somewhat lackluster box office receipts.

Still, the movie must have bought someone a new Porsche as, according to the Los Angeles Times, Fox has decided to double down on the property, giving the go-ahead for brilliant screenwriters Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski ("Ed Wood," "1408") to begin penning the sequel adaptation, titled "The Sea of Monsters." Next Factor: Alexandra Daddario

Don't adjust your monitors. The uncommonly blue eyes above belong to 24-year-old actress Alexandra Daddario -- and they're the un-Photoshopped truth.  Daddario, who started her career at 16 with a long run on "All My Children," loaned those baby blues to last year's "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief."

The first in a possible five-movie series had less-than-stellar box office success, but whether Percy returns to fight another battle should have little bearing on Daddario's career;  the actress has an ongoing arc on television's "White Collar" and appears next in "Hall Pass," the Farrelly Brothers comedy co-starring Owen Wilson, Jason Sudeikis and Jenna Fischer.

"I play Owen Wilson's kid's babysitter," she tells NextMovie and laughs, "It is a bit cheesy. He gets a one-time hall pass to have an affair, and I find out about it. Hijinks ensue."

We're pretty sure Daddario is poised to make a big splash, so we took a few minutes to get to know the girl behind the crazy eyes. Get More »
