Hot People Looking Hot: Aidan Turner Photos

Dwarves can be heartthrobs, too!

Aidan Turner will soon be filling Orlando Bloom's shoes as the Middle-earth man who gets everyone all hot and bothered in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," which will see Turner's Kili accompanying his fellow dwarves on a quest to Lonely Mountain to steal back some gold and battle a talking dragon.

The "Being Human" star is set to take Hollywood by storm with breakout roles in both "The Hobbit" and next summer's "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones," in which he'll be playing Luke Garroway. And, really, how long before he shows up in a Marvel movie, as either a hot superhero or hot supervillain?

Visit our Aidan Turner gallery often, as it's only going to get bigger — and hotter — in the months to come.

All You Need to Know About 'The Mortal Instruments' Cast (So Far)

Fans of Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" series will agree that casting for the "City of Bones" movie has been one hellaciously long process. Consider this: The first actor announcement came down nearly two years ago.

However, as the spiffy new official movie website for "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" now shows, there are very few spaces left open on the casting roster. In fact, this week "The Tudors" star Jonathan Rhys Meyers might've nabbed the biggest opening left (he's reportedly in talks to star as Valentine Morgenstern, the brainy and sadistic arch-villain of the series). The "Instruments" have claimed two new players.

The adaptation of Cassandra Clare's "City of Bones" is turning into quite the full orchestra as both Aidan Turner and CCH Pounder have joined the ensemble, according to Clare's official blog.

Turner joins the production in the role of Luke Garroway, a calm and level-headed surrogate father figure of sorts to our heroine, Clary Fray. He also happens to be a ... well, we don't be the ones to give that away if you don't already know.

Pounder will be playing Madame Dorothea, Clary's crafty downstairs neighbor who moonlights as a storefront "Seeress and Prophetess," though her tarot cards and crystal balls serve as a front for the powerful position she actually does hold in the secret society of Downworlders. Get More »

Who Will Be the Breakout Star of 'The Hobbit'?

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
New Line

Here's a shocker: Blockbusters make movie stars. Big films with big action and big, heroic roles can turn actors into celebrities and nobodies into household names -- and films don't come much bigger than the upcoming adaptations of "The Hobbit," with an estimated budget of $500 million.

"Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson seldom gets credit for creating movie stars. Remember that Orlando Bloom fellow? You probably know that, before he was a pirate, he was blonde elf Legolas. But you may not remember that before that he was... a completely unknown acting student.

Jackson also launched the much decorated Kate Winslet in 1994, in a dark little film called "Heavenly Creatures"... and she went on to star in "Titanic." He turned Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn in "LOTR") from just a handsome actor into a bona fide leading man with a fan following.
