It's a game pretty much anyone can play, depending on the rules — we employ the First Name: First Pet, Last Name: Street You Grew Up On method (our apologies to those with allergies, maybe you had a goldfish?). And the results are, without fail, hilarious.

We asked 100 of our favorite movie stars in Hollywood — including Emma Watson, Keira Knightley, Megan Fox, Ryan Gosling, Paul Rudd, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Katie Holmes, Jon Hamm, Emma Stone and Neil Patrick Harris — for their porn star names. Anything that Nick Offerman has done or will ever do is funny in some fashion. Pretty much everyone agrees with this, including, apparently, Nick Offerman.

As if specifically putting that theory to the test, the promo for Offerman's latest film, "Somebody Up There Likes Me," first presented by our fraternal twins at Cinemablend, is bizarre on a level that makes a David Lynch movie seem like the gag reel of Adam Sandler's "Grown Ups" by comparison.

Graced with more celebrities per capita than your everyday disaster relief telethon, the promo starts with Offerman's "Parks & Recreation" co-star Adam Scott confronting Offerman in his wood shop about not showing up to the P&R set for work that day.

Things get decidedly NSFW from there.

Then the video spirals in an equally ridiculous and entertaining direction. Megan Mullally (Offerman's real-life wife) and Alison Brie take turns calmly calling Scott various iterations of the word "dick" for interrupting the film's promo. This segues into an original song, presumably titled "Pussy and Weed" because of the frequent use of the words "pussy" and "weed," before Scott himself gets high and the group smokes a giant bong out of Offerman's ass. Because why not? Also: There are merkins.

Amy Poehler shows up at the end as well to witness the proceedings, but at that point, your expectations are already met. And as if to add to the madness, Adam Scott isn't even in the movie. Neither is Alison Brie. They just showed up to hit the Offerman-ass bong, and frankly, we can't blame them.

It's questionable whether the promo will actually translate to tickets for "Somebody Up There Likes Me," but it almost doesn't matter. Bravo, everyone. This exists.

Universal

Is it a coincidence that NBC Universal's goofy and charming new rom-com "The Five-Year Engagement" is studded with actors from its Thursday-night lineup? Even "30 Rock" boss Jack Donaghy couldn't come up with a better plan.

Emily Blunt and Jason Segel are the stars, of course, as you can see from the ads featuring their enormous(ly lovely) faces on billboards, buses, and bus stops everywhere. Over the course of the movie's 124 minutes, viewers soon find themselves treated to appearances by some of the funniest young actors on the scene.

Alison Brie ("Community") is adorable as Suzie, the little sister of Violet (Blunt). Brie has a sweet British accent and, after a rather boozy rehearsal dinner, hooks up with Alex (Chris Pratt, of "Parks and Rec"), who is Tom (Segel)'s slacker best friend. It's a match made in bizarro land, but somehow it works., and Violet's little sister beats her to the altar and to the delivery room. Brie and Blunt share some fantastic scenes together, and it's cool to see Pratt given a few serious moments along with the shenanigans we know and love him for.

Universal

Meanwhile, as Violet and Tom shake up their lives so Violet can pursue her post-doc work at the University of Michigan, they meet more people played by NBC regulars. The amazing Mindy Kaling ("The Office") shows up as Violet's colleague Vaneetha at the University of Michigan, while Chris Parnell ("30 Rock" and "Saturday Night Live") shares some of Tom's pain as Bill, the spouse of another graduate student; Bill turns to hunting and terrible knitting projects to keep himself busy while his wife pursues her degree. Former "SNL" star Molly Shannon also appears as a sadistic chef who just wants Tom to chop some onions for her.

Of course, it would be foolish not to point out that these are some of the hottest names in comedy right now, both as writers and actors, and that the film industry is increasingly competing with TV for audience eyeballs. Working on a TV show is no longer seen as slumming it compared to movies, and in fact, TV can offer stars of all ages juicer and more interesting roles than might otherwise be available in the film industry. Perhaps it's just synergy, as Jack Donaghy might say, that the ripest and most vibrant writers and actors can dip into both mediums, and that NBC is lucky enough to have a roster of Thursday night shows with casts whose names you're just as likely to see at Sundance as on your DVR.

NBC's Thursday-night stars have been showing up in other movies, as well. Nick Offerman, the man behind Nick Swanson's expressive moustache on "Parks and Recreation," has had some memorable parts in recent movies like "21 Jump Street" and "Casa de mi Padre," as well as a bigger role in the Sundance drama "Smashed" and Diablo Cody's upcoming film "Lamb of God." Rashida Jones has been jumping from the small screen to the big screen for years with roles in "The Office" and "Parks and Rec," and movies like "I Love You, Man," "Friends with Benefits," "The Muppet Movie," and "Celeste and Jesse Forever," which she cowrote.

Aubrey Plaza, who plays the one-liner machine April Ludgate on "Parks and Rec," appeared in "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," "Funny People" and "Damsels in Distress." Her first real starring role is in the upcoming film "Safety Not Guaranteed" with Mark Duplass and Jake Johnson ("New Girl"). And, of course, there's Adam Scott, who's won the hearts of not only Leslie Knope but also the indie crowd with parts in "Party Down," "Our Idiot Brother," "Friends with Kids" and the upcoming black-hearted comedy "Bachelorette." (Real fans of Adam Scott will remember him as the jerky brother in "Step Brothers" who leads his family in an a capella rendition of "Sweet Child o' Mine.")

And that's just "Parks and Rec"! Steve Carell was a movie star in his own right before joining "The Office," and although they haven't quite broken through into film the same way as some of the folks we've mentioned, "Office" actor Ellie Kemper showed up in "Bridesmaids" and "21 Jump Street," Craig Robinson is an Apatow staple ("Knocked Up," "Walk Hard," "Pineapple Express," "Zack and Miri Make a Porno"), John Krasinski prayed for a "Big Miracle" and was Kate Hudson's shoulder to cry on in "Something Borrowed," and Ed Helms won't ever get over his "Hangover" -- he's filming "The Hangover Part III" -- but also appeared in the acclaimed indie "Jeff, Who Lives at Home" earlier this year.

Focus Features

On the "Community" front, Joel McHale follows small roles in a couple of 2011 comedic misfires ("The Big Year" and "What's Your Number?") with Seth MacFarlane's "Ted," which is quickly shaping up to be summer's must anticipated laugher. You can also catch Gillian Jacobs opposite Steve Carell and Keira Knightley in June's "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" (not to mention four upcoming other big-screen projects), while Donald Glover ("The To-Do List"), Yvette Nicole Brown ("Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters") and Danny Pudi also have high-profile projects in the works.

Most of "30 Rock's" ensemble is already well versed in moviedom, but hardly a month goes by where we don't see someone like Jack McBrayer ("A Thousand Words"), Katrina Bowden ("American Reunion") or Scott Adsit ("Arthur") turn up in a new comedy.

It's like falling into a Judd Apatow k-hole, folks. Leave it to the experts to dissect this stuff, okay? In the meantime, sit back, relax, and witness Tom and Violet's attempt to get married, whether in five years or in 50 (no, that's not a spoiler). If you're a fan of NBC's beloved Thursday night lineup, it's time well spent with some of your favorite funny people.

Adam Scott's never have trouble landing roles over the course of his 17-year career, with the inevitable highs (partying on TV in "Party of Five" and "Party Down") and lows (paycheck movie fare like "Hellraiser: Bloodline" and "Piranha").

But Scott is on a roll now, thanks in large part to his lovable turn as Leslie Knope's love interest on NBC's beloved mocku-com "Parks and Recreation." Now movie offers are coming fast and furiously.

The affable Scott says he's grateful for every gig, but he especially enjoyed "Friends With Kids" (about a platonic pair of friends who decide to make a baby since all of their friends have them), a comedy he made with longtime friends/ power couple Jennifer Westfeldt (who wrote, directed and stars) and Jon Hamm (who produces and co-stars). Also: He gets to make out with Megan Fox. A lot.

Did you know Jennifer and Jon going into this film?
We've been friends for like 15 years, which is lucky for me because there's no way I would have gotten this part, otherwise. Yeah, we've been friends forever … and actually I have a couple kids, so reading the script, I was like, "Oh boy … sorry guys, definitely one of those people."

You were a plot inspiration?
Well, I know that our time with our friends really suffered once we had kids so … Actually making the movie, I got to spend a lot more time with Jen and Jon than I had in four years or so.

Maybe that's why they wrote the movie, just to spend time with you.
I'm not going to flatter myself.

Is it strange working for your friends?
No, because they really treated me as a collaborator and we're comfortable with each other so the whole thing was really easy, actually. The movie itself was tough just because of the low budget, and we're making it like, the middle of the worst storm in 40 years in New York. But working with my friends is sort of the ideal scenario; it makes everything a lot easier rather than working with strangers.

It's a very New York story. Do you have a preference between New York and LA?
I prefer Los Angeles just because I live there and my family's there. But I think New York is just kind of the center of the world. It was great being there and being able to be there with my family for a couple months … It was awesome, so fun. My boy loves trains so we got to ride the subway everyday and whenever we see taxis now in Los Angeles they both freak out, just because they loved riding in taxis so much.

You get to do a considerable amount of making out with Megan Fox in this movie. Has it dawned on you how much dudes are going to envy you now?
Well, like I've said before, Megan is one of those people that is so beautiful when you're around them you feel like you're covered in diarrhea [laughs]. But we got along great. I loved working with Megan, she's super cool, and really funny, too. It's no surprise to me that she's doing all of these comedies now because she's a really funny person.

In one scene you are actually literally covered with diarrhea. I can only assume that was actual poop on your face.
Yeah, we flew some poop in, from like, Turkey.

Oh, so it was some of that high-grade poop?
Yeah, it was high-grade, Turkish prison diarrhea [laughs]. It's really, really, high grade stuff.

The film has a definite edge to it – could you see it becoming an unlikely success in the same vein as "Bridesmaids?" It not only shares cast members, but some qualities.
Yeah, I think one of the great things about "Bridesmaids" is that it's a big studio comedy but all of the relationships in it are so grounded that you're watching a real movie. Like when I saw the trailer for "Bridesmaids" and I saw the bits they were showing on the plane, I always figured that when that plane landed – before I saw the movie, I figured – when that plane lands, they're going to have this big party in Vegas. I didn't expect for that plane to be grounded, for their trip to be ruined. That's a turn that movie makes that's really special, and it's one of the main things I admired about that movie is how grounded and real the relationships and situations were. So yeah, I think in that sense this movie is similar. You can imagine this stuff actually happening, which in a lot of modern romantic comedies is not always the case.

Something random I noticed on the IMDB bio pages of both you and Jon Hamm: There's a line that says "Is very good friend with Paul Rudd." Which brings up two questions: A –Who's the better friend with Paul Rudd? And B- Is Paul Rudd hacking IMDB?
Yeah, you'll find it with every actor … Paul has put that line there in their bio [laughs]. Yeah, we've all been friends for 15 years or something … Hamm even longer because they knew each other from back in St. Louis and Kansas City, like back in the day. I just became friends with them in Los Angeles, but they've been friends even longer. So I guess Hamm would have to win that battle.

So, "Parks and Recreation" just rules. Is it as much fun to film as it is to watch?
Yeah. I mean, we have such incredible writers around that they're coming up with great stuff and it's so fun. Like I work at 7 on Monday morning and I can't wait to get back. I always feel that way. I'm always just so excited to go into work. It's such a great gig.

You and Rob Lowe, especially, got a lot of notice for coming on last season and making the show even better. Have you seen your career reap in any rewards from the attention you've gotten for "Parks"?
I think when you're on a network show it's crazy how different it is … just being on a network show that reaches that many people. It's not like I'm very famous but seemingly overnight I would get recognized more and it was really weird. You don't even realize what 5 million people means until you're on every week with 5 million people watching. So I think just by virtue of being on a network show, yeah … I mean I'm just so lucky just being on the show and it has made my career more legitimate.

I don't think many people realize that you were in a Star Trek movie (1996's "Star Trek: First Contact"). What are your fondest memories from that experience?
To be honest, I was there from like 7 a.m. to 11 a.a.. For me it was rent at the time but it was fun. Jonathan Frakes was directing, he was a really nice guy, but I was never much of a Trekkie. But I like "Star Trek." I really loved the J.J. Abrams movie … I was just never super into it but it's cool that I got to be in one of those movies.

You've been pretty candid about some of your more "dubious" past roles in interviews. Do you feel like when people ask you about them you have to defend those movies?
No, I don't regret doing anything and, you know, at the time "Monster-in-Law" was … I was so excited to get that part. I got to be in a big movie for a few months. I got work and everybody on it was really nice and it was a fun experience. I'm proud to have worked at all over the past 17 years or whatever and lucky I get any jobs. So to be embarrassed about any role or something is a little ridiculous, I think.

Stop the presses! Apparently 'Edith Fartsberg' isn't Megan Fox's real name.

MTV grilled Fox and her "Friends with Kids" co-star Adam Scott on "The Yes/No Show," where the guests are limited to answers in the form of ... well, you get it.

Fox might be the only human on Earth who can explain the plot of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," though this is coming from an actress who claims she's never sexted before. Adams, on the other hand, enjoys bro handshakes and joy riding in cars with Paul Rudd while injuring homeless people.

Adam Scott, the geeky quirky heartthrob of "Party Down" and "Parks and Recreation" fame, may be crossing back over to the big screen for Ben Stiller's latest, a remake of the Danny Kaye starrer, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."

If the deal goes through (which we really, really hope it does), Scott would join an A-list cast that already includes Kristen Wiig, Patton Oswalt and Shirley MacLaine, as well as—you guessed it—Ben Stiller himself.

(You thought Stiller might not put himself in the titular role for a movie he's directing? Surely you jest.)

The comedy follows Walter Mitty (the aforementioned Stiller), a meek photo editor whose dreams of adventure come true after some film negatives go missing. According to Cinema Blend, Wiig is set to play a co-worker/ love interest of Mr. Mitty, though none of the other cast-members' roles are known.

In the original, however, Mitty has an overprotective mother breathing down his neck —  a part we think seems perfect for MacLaine.

If history repeats itself — as it usually does — Stiller will pretty much run the show, but we're optimistic that he's selecting these talents to showcase their comedic chops. (Stiller, are you listening?)

While there's no word yet on when lensing will begin, now that Scott's on board we hope it starts... yesterday.

We love the fantasy worlds we get to visit in the movies. Who can't help but get lost in the sweeping majesty of Middle-earth, the magical halls of Hogwarts and the alternate-universe Central Park where a guy can pick up a conveniently single Megan Fox.

"Friends With Kids" follows two BFFs (Adam Scott and writer-director Jennifer Westfeldt) who decide to have a baby together while keeping their relationship strictly platonic so they can date other people. This decision seems to be inspired by the fact that their newlywed pals (Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm) had sex in the bathroom of a restaurant before joining them at the table.

Or something. Motivation and plot isn't very clear in the "Friends With Kids" trailer, but at least we get to watch a lot of attractive young-ish actors try to make sense of it all -- or at least just go with the flow (really, do a shot every time Jon Hamm does his bug-eyed bemused/exasperated look and you'll be passed out by the end of the trailer). Admittedly, it's fun to watch Wiig and Hamm getting along a little better than they did in "Bridesmaids" -- meanwhile, their "Bridesmaids" pal Maya Rudolph seems like she's pretty much playing the same character she played in "Bridesmaids."

And yes, we have to admit, Edward Burns is a handsome German man. From Long Island.

Have you tried sate your desire for Adam Scott every way you can possibly think of? Do you slog through old episodes of "Party of Five" just to see his youthful face?  Fall asleep to "Parks and Recreation" just so you can imagine he's there with you as you drift into the land of nod?

It's time to put your crazy back where it belongs because you're about to get a whole lotta Scott. Megan Mullally has confirmed that her highly-praised series "Party Down" will be returning, this time on the big screen.

Deadline reports that the "Will & Grace" alum announced during a Fox panel, "John Enborn is writing it right now, I'm excited about that."

Despite its cult following, the popular Starz series was canned last June, but the beloved actors/caterers won't be out of the public eye for long – the movie is scheduled to start filming this spring or summer.

With the exception of Jane Lynch, who left her leading role after one season to pursue "Glee," the rest of the cast, including Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Ken Marino and Ryan Hansen, are expected to return.

We've heard of catering to fans, but this is ridiculous.

Those who tuned into the cable show "Party Down" during its two seasons on the Starz network fell in love with failed actor Henry Pollard (Adam Scott) and his crew of misfits working for the L.A. catering company of the title. They catered senior singles mixers, an adult entertainment awards ceremony and just about any other demeaning event you can think of, somehow surviving through each disaster. Unfortunately, they couldn't survive being canceled after two brief seasons of low ratings.

Over the weekend, the world famous Alamo Drafthouse in Texas hosted "The Ultimate Party Down Marathon," which reunited main cast members Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Megan Mullally and Ryan Hansen, as well as creators Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge and John Enbom. As reported by /Film, during the Q&A, Thomas teased audiences with the promise of bringing the dysfunctional waiters to the screen.

"People are talking to us about doing a 'Party Down' movie," said Thomas. "We are pretty far down the deal-making process with that, so we’re hopeful that there will be a 'Party Down' movie. Ideally, if it works out we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. Hopefully that deal will close, and we’ll all Tweet about it when it does."

Hopefully this is not one of those vapor projects like the "Arrested Development" and "Veronica Mars" movies that get talked about endlessly with no results. As far as the concept of turning a failed show into a movie, remember that the "Naked Gun" movies started as "Police Squad!" on TV, which only lasted six episodes. If that could spawn three successful films, then with 20 episodes under their belt "Party Down" could go at least nine movies… do the math.

Adam Scott is leaving the "Parks" behind and hitting the road.

The "Parks and Recreation" star has joined the cast of "My Mother's Curse," the new road trip comedy starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"My Mother's Curse" chronicles the misadventures of a young inventor (Rogen) who embarks on a cross-country trip with his eccentric mother (Streisand) as he tries to sell his latest product and reunite her with a long-lost love.

Can we just say that Barbra and Seth cast as mother and son is, like, pure genius? The movie can just kind of make itself.

Adam Scott joins a cast that also includes Colin Hanks and Australian beauty Yvonne Strahovski ("Chuck"). Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") is directing from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman, who knows a thing or two about road trips (with plenty of detours) after writing the script for "Cars."

"My Mother's Curse" isn't the only new gig for Scott -- he's also joined the cast of "See Girl Run," a romantic comedy co-starring Robin Tunney and produced by Seth Rogen's "Pineapple Express" director, David Gordon Green.

This fella's been getting his comedy on a lot lately, having also appeared in "Step Brothers" and a couple episodes of "Eastbound & Down." He'll next be seen with Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and his "Parks and Rec" pal, Rashida Jones, in "Our Idiot Brother," opening Aug. 26.

"My Mother's Curse" will arrive in theaters on March 30, 2012.

While Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay spend most of their time making big, Hollywood comedies, their production company, Gary Sanchez Productions, strives to wrangle the latest and greatest in lesser-known (but equally impressive) talent.

The result has been a slew of indie flicks -- some hits, some misses -- including Danny McBride's debut "The Foot Fist Way," last year's mock doc "The Virginity Hit" and the upcoming "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie," which one can only expect will be equal parts disturbing and hilarious.

Now Ferrell has assembled an ensemble of familiar faces to star in a new movie by budding writer/director Leslye Headland, a film that sounds in tune with the company's mantra. "Bachlorette" (a title that may change, notes The Hollywood Reporter) will star Kirsten Dunst, Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan and former "SNL" player and "Happy Endings" star Casey Wilson.

Caplan and Dunst will play the bridesmaids of Wilson's character, a girl they referred to as "pig face" in high school. Scott plays the former boyfriend of Caplan's character, who arrives at the wedding with a much hotter and younger date. Drama!

The film is loosely based on Headland's play of the same name, which premiered last year off-Broadway in New York. The play featured the same premise, while setting most of the action at a party in a hotel room, which appears to have been modified and expanded for the movie version. The play was a purposefully vulgar comedy with characters who bordered on flat out unenjoyable -- which is probably why Ferrell and McKay decided to bring it to the big screen.

The idea of former "Party Down" co-stars Caplan and Scott reuniting for some of their signature banter is reason enough to be excited, but even more so is watching the funny ladies of Hollywood finally getting their due. The Gary Sanchez team have always been strong proponents of female comedy -- thank you Funny or Die! -- and with the upcoming "Bridesmaids" paving the way, "Bachlorettes" should be another notch on the belt for laughter equality. These women can bring the funny and we're glad to see they're getting the chance.

UPDATE: The Golden Globe nominee tells MTV Movies Blog that her participation in this Seth MacFarlane-directed film is not a done deal.

"It's a really great script," she says. "If time permits and scheduling works out, I'd love to do it... It's all just a matter of timing."

She did, however, participate in the table read with Mark Wahlberg.

After delivering one of the most acclaimed dramatic performances of the year, what does a girl do next?

Go back to her comedic roots, of course. And that's exactly what Mila Kunis (fresh off her chilling role in "Black Swan") has in mind.

Kunis is in talks to join Universal's new comedy, "Ted," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Helming the project as writer and director is "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane—and since Kunis is the voice of Meg on the popular show, this pairing comes as no surprise.

"Ted" is about a man who, as a young boy, made a Christmas wish that his Teddy Bear would come to life and be his BFF. Twenty-five years later, the bear is still by his side, but has grown into a cursing, smoking, delinquent (voiced by MacFarlane) that is preventing the now-grown man from maturing.

Mark Wahlberg is in the final negotiations to star as the grown man, and Kunis is up to play his girlfriend, who wants their relationship to move to that infamous "next level," but (oddly enough) can't see that happening with Ted in the picture.

Don't feel too badly for Kunis, however. She'll find comfort in the arms of her boss, played by Adam Scott, who's about as cuddly as any teddy bear we've ever seen.
