On NBC's "Community" Dean Craig Pelton (actor Jim Rash) has a tendency to dress up as many famous women, including Tina Turner, Catwoman, and Lady Gaga, but on last night's Oscar stage Rash decided to ape Angelina Jolie and now the whole world is buzzing about it.
Entertainment Weekly got to talk to Rash in the afterglow of his Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award win for "The Descendants," and he explained exactly why he took a queue from presenter Jolie's leggy pose while co-writers Nat Faxon and Alexander Payne tried to remain composed.
"Honestly, as soon as I saw her pose like that, I was like, 'I’m going to do that,'" said Rash. "I knew Alexander was going to take the reigns, so I was like, 'How can I make a moment?' — selfishly. I almost thought it was a little Dean Pelton, somehow. I was bringing it all together. Because I have stood like that [on Community]."
That "moment" wound up being one of the most talked-about blips of spontaneity during the evening, with Rash getting minor heat for "making fun" of Jolie despite him telling The Hollywood Reporter that "Angelina's supremely hot. There's no way to do anything but honor her... And you know what? We have exactly the same legs! Really, it was a loving tribute and nothing but."
We believe Rash, especially since he's not the only one obsessed with Jolie's million-dollar stems, as evidenced by the nearly 12,000 followers already amassed for Twitter account Angelina Jolie's Leg. Tweets from the leg have so far included "Look at this leg!!!," "You have to admit I'm one hell of a leg," and "Great meeting most of you for the first time last night at the Oscars!!"
