Zoe Saldana just can't stay away from outer space.
The "Avatar" and "Star Trek" beauty will be blasting off this planet once again as she's set to join the cast of the weirdo Marvel movie, "Guardians of the Galaxy," according to Heat Vision.
"Guardians" follows the adventures of Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), a half-alien, half-human astronaut who becomes 'Star-Lord' when he joins a team of otherworldly superheroes: the mighty Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista); Rocket Raccoon, a, uh, talking raccoon; Groot, a talking tree; and Gamora, a green-skinned hottie assassin who is the last of a species that was exterminated by a race known as the Badoon.
Zoe Saldana will be playing the role of Groot, the talking tree. And what a great talking tree she'll be!
Just kidding — she'll be playing the hot assassin lady. Saldana is no stranger to assassin roles after having played one for producer Luc Besson in "Colombiana," a movie you probably didn't see but saw the trailer for about a hundred times.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" will hit theaters on Aug. 1, 2014 ... if indeed it's actually real and not some elaborate Disney/Marvel practical joke destined to only be a series of press releases and pieces of concept art whilst the studio secretly works on "Black Panther." Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana will next be seen reprising her role as Uhura in "Star Trek Into Darkness," opening May 17.
