You Will Believe a House Can Fly

Pixar

There are certain movie images that should never be recreated in real life, like Cenobyte torture scenes from "Hellraiser" or pretty much anything from "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale."

And then, there's this: A team of poindexters from California using 300 helium balloons to lift a 256-square foot house into the air a la Pixar's new-classic animated hit, "UP."

The experiment was conducted as part of National Geographic's upcoming TV show "How Hard Can It Be?" and, as you'll see in the video, it was a rousing success.

You'd think that, without talking golden retrievers, pudgy Boy Scouts and zany birds, some of the effect might be lost, but we're here to tell you that the image of a balloon-borne house is just as compelling in reality as it was on the movie screen. Check it out, and then go watch "UP" again, because it's just that good.
